altThere is not much in life more sad and yet inspiring, than watching a child fight cancer, leukemia or lymphoma! The resolve of some of the kids is tremendous. But they should not have to endure those experiences and we all need to help.

About this time every year the sailors of Louisville hold the Fleur De Lis Regatta to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In 1993, with the help of noted sailing expert and ESPN commentator Gary Jobson, the Maryland Chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society hosted the first Leukemia Cup Regatta in Annapolis. Enthusiasm for the event spread across the country and in 1999 thirty-eight chapters participated in the National Leukemia Cup Regatta program.

Our Louisville sailing community was one of the first six organized!

There are times in life when I think it is okay to plead. Maybe even beg. So I am asking, pleading and begging!

The Fleur de Lis Regatta, kicks off on Friday nigh, September 9th,  followed by two days of sailboat racing on the Ohio River near downtown Louisville, Kentucky. This location has been the mainstay for years and provides excellent viewing from under the tent on the Harbor Lawn, along with exciting challenges for racing because of the proximity of bridges and the downtown skyline. This is the only sailing event that is held at this location each year.

It's amazing how a weekend of sailing can go such a long way to help the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society reach its goal of finding a cure for leukemia and all of the blood related cancers as well as improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

By participating in the Fleur De Lis Regatta, either as a sailor or by attending the festivities, you can help raise much needed funds to support additional research and treatment of families in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

We all thank you for your consideration and hope to see you on the river.

What is Chocolate Blues? Chocolate Blues is one of the largest and most fun business events in the country.  Attendees are: business owners, managers, department heads, directors, consultants, authors, coaches, trainers, marketing experts, designers, investors, realtors, publishers, technology gurus, independent contractors, executives, CEO's, local media, marketing experts and community leaders.

Following up on the concept of the 5 Step Action and Control model, it is important that we understand our own behavioral style and that of others. DISC is not a new concept. Many people have been exposed to or briefly studied DISC, however, very few actually have taken the time to put the concept to work for them.

We started with an overview in the first session and in the following sessions studied the D,I and S behavior styles in enough depth to enhance our abilities to work the 5 Step Action and Control model efficiently. Understanding and utilizing this concept can be beneficial to anyone in their personal relationships, sales activities, and leadership and management duties.
