I'm using this with the Cradlepoint PHS300.The PHS300 battery life is only around 2 hours which is limiting where it's not convenient to plug it in.I've used the Tekkeon battery coupled with the PHS300 for over 4 hours continuously so far on many different occations, and the Tekkeon battery still showed over half left.It works as advertised, greatly increases the utility of the PHS300.The clips keep all together as a single convenient package, and the included cable makes it easy to connect the battery to the router.

Canon CPE3 Compact Battery Pack for Speedlite 420EZ/540EZ/550EX/580EX Review

CanonCPE3CompactBatteryPackforSpeedlite420EZ/540EZ/550EX/580EX
Average Reviews:

I bought this because I needed top recycle speed from my 550EX flash unit without spending a huge bundle.I shoot karate demos with my EOS Rebel digital, lots of fast action in a rather large space (meaning many full power flashes). With the digital Rebel set to ISO800 mode and the flash set to +1 stop exposure I can adequately cover the action in a basketball court sized gymnasium.Using this battery pack with 2000MaH AA sized batteries (about 6.50 for a set of 4 at walmart) I've taken over 400 pictures with no slow down in cycle speed.

This particular pack uses 8 AA cells and is compatible with Lithium ion cells. The older version of this unit used 6 cells I believe, and was not compatible with Lithium ion batteries.

The unit is very simple.A box with a light on it, a space for a strap (though none is included) a slide out battery tray with locking button and of course the connector with a coiled cord that hooks into the side of the flash unit.I'm sure they do it for reasons of resistance, but the cord is kinda short, thus limiting you to where you can hang the battery package. If your tripod socket is free they do include a screw designed to mount the battery package to the bottom of the camera (kinda useless if you ask me). The battery box comes with a fairly nice padded nylon case that includes a velcro strap, this is what I use to hang the battery package from a camera or bag strap and it works fine.Eventually I'll get around to finding something I can use for a strap as that will worry me less (with 8 batteries in this thing it's a bit heavy to be trusted to velcro if you ask me).

The unit works the way it's intended but I think the price is exhorbitant for a hunk of plastic, the price should be about half what it is.If you can't go all-out and buy the top end with the rechargeable battery or a true professional (what they used to call 512) battery package then this is enough for most of us.

Canon PowerShot A710 IS 7.1MP Digital Camera with 6x Image-Stabilized Optical Zoom Review

CanonPowerShotA710IS7.1MPDigitalCamerawith6xImage-StabilizedOpticalZoom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off I would like to say that I am just an average camera user with no special skills and I really do not understand what any of the jargon means when people talk about their cameras.

I was interested in this camera for several reasons:

1. It was highly rated in every review I read about it by people that know a whole lot more about such things than me.

2. It uses 2 AA batteries not 4 and not a rechargeable battery.I use rechargeable AA batteries on my own.I really do not like being forced to use the ones provided with the cameras. No matter what they say the batteries will run out and at the most inconvenient time.I can swap the batteries out in an instant or buy new ones. You can't do that with other rechargeable batteries.I travel a lot.I never know if I will have access to electricity to recharge my camera or if I will even have time. For this reason I absolutely insist on AA batteries. This may not be a concern for your standard user but it is to devoted travelers.

3.I am not that obsessed with photography.I wanted a camera that would work "out of the box" and let me learn about the features as I go.

4.It uses an SD disk. This allows me to use the same disks without buying new ones or buying an adapter for my computer.I can use the same SD discs with my mp3 player and my palm pilot. This is why I refuse to buy items using xd discs or anything by Sony and their insane use of their memory stick.Hey Sony the Beta was great but no one bought it.You are going down the same path with your memory stick. The deciding factor between a Sony computer and the Gateway I bought was the memory stick feature versus an SD drive.I did not buy cameras from Sony twice now because of the use of memory sticks.I have told many people about this and have steered them to other brands for the same reason.Compatabilty is very important in electronics.

5.It has lots of cool accessories that I may or may not eventually decide to buy.The main one being the waterproof case.I tried this out at the camera store and it was really cool.It allows divers full access to all of the features on the camera and seems like it is really easy to use.I will be buying it in a month or so for an upcoming diving trip.I will know better after that if it works in the water as well as in the camera store.

6.It has a separate watch battery to store the date and time information. That was a major issue I had with my last camera.Digital cameras go through batteries fast.Having to constantly enter this information gets annoying, especially if I am not wearing a watch.

These are my initial thoughts after purchase:

Setting up the camera was a snap.Everything seemed intuitive and I had no problems whatsoever.

I have taken a few test shots in the various modes and am really impressed. It has a lot of detail that my previous camera did not provide.

The camera seems to be the perfect size for me.This camera is big enough so that you can operate the buttons without getting a 4 year old to do it for you. And small enough that it can be used as a handheld camera, fitting nicely in a case around your shoulder.

My only complaint on this camera and with a lot of them is the wheel that switches the modes.I really wish they would make these things flush with the camera body. This one is better than my previous camera but the wheel still shifts modes when you pull it out of its case.Other than that one minor gripe I am very pleased with this purchase.

With 7.1 megapixels of resolution, you'll see uncommon depth and detail in your images. Such high resolution also ensures virtually unlimited freedom to enlarge and crop an image for powerfully expressive photography. The camera's powerful 6x optical zoom takes you close to the action - fast. You may be on the sidelines, but your camera isn't. And acclaimed Canon optics ensure exceptional brightness and clarity. The camera's 2.5-inch LCD monitor gives you the big picture, whether you're shooting, reviewing or showing off your images. This high-resolution screen offers a crisp, clear picture and wider viewing angle to make shooting, playback and using the camera's menu functions especially convenient. Was a bit reluctant to buy a non-branded battery with no reviews, but have been using this for a week now and am very impressed, having given it three full charge-discharge cycles. It is a slightly tighter fit than the original battery, but this makes it fit solidly and there is no motion once the thing is locked in place. Several things:

- mine came 52 percent charged and charged up fully without problems (they include a sheet of paper which explains that you might have to charge several times and unplug/replug the battery to get the pc to charge it completely, but I didn't need to do that).
- it's big, but I was expecting that since it is nine cells against the original's three cells. If you compare it to the original three cell battery it looks the same when you are typing, but there is quite a lot hanging out at the back and below. On a flat surface this props up the keyboard at a nice angle, but it's not quite so comfy on your legs since the big battery is lower than the rest of the laptop.
- run time with both XP and ubuntu is very impressive, both report about 9hrs and I get actual working times over 8hrs. Since I have the pc setup to go to sleep when idle this means that I am only charging every 2 days (!) and this with full screen brightness when it is awake, and wifi connected. Very nice!

Also they shipped the battery with a free little USB SD card reader - this is shown in the photo but as of December 2009 is not mentioned in the text. Works fine with a 4 GB class 6 SD card.

Kodak EasyShare Z760 6.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Review

KodakEasyShareZ7606.1MPDigitalCamerawith3xOpticalZoom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am thoroughly impressed with the Kodak Z760 digital camera. Not only does it take superb hi-res digital pictures, but controls are easy to use. Most functions are written out in plain English rather than cryptic abbreviations or hieroglyphic icons. The flexibility to use either preset camera settings for any occasion, or to customize your own if you are a photo pro is another big plus that makes this camera appealing to a wide range of photo enthusiasts.

The Kodak EasyShare software that comes with the camera is a bit clunky and overbearing, but it's easy to use and it tracks when you took your pictures and where you downloaded them with relative ease.

All in all, this is a great camera to have.Compact size, simple to use, and a decent sized screen to read clear font text instructions.

Pentax Optio A40 12MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Shake Reduction Zoom Review

PentaxOptioA4012MPDigitalCamerawith3xOpticalShakeReductionZoom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is really tiny and I love carrying it all the time. I had the A10, A30 and now the A40 and they are all great cameras. This has easy access to flash options (off, on, red eye, soft etc) as well as focal lengths (macro, super macro, infinity etc). The screen is nearly as big as the camera and makes for great viewing of your photos and movies. The flash works pretty good, even up to distances of greater than 20 feet. It's really easy to set up and understand. The zoom is steady and you can view the screen all the time you're zooming with little or no distortion. I notice a slight purple cast from outdoor light coming in from windows (indoors), but I have a Canon sd950is that does the same thing, so I think this is something with most if not all digital cameras. It's so small and light it's really nice to carry around and the photos are really fantastic. The anti shake is the best I've seen on any brand of digital camera, I have a 16 month old I'm always chasing around, so I really appreciate the anti shake feature. It's a hundred dollars less then the Canon and I'm not sure why because I like the Pentax better.

Acer AOD250-1633 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - Up to 9 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter) Review

AcerAOD250-163310.1inchBlackNetbook-Upto9HoursofBatteryLife
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Update (17 Nov 09): After a fair amount of travel I stick by my initial rating.Construction is solid and I have had no issues, even after it has been thrown around a bit with my carry-on.Also, you shouldn't have to worry about the "big" battery sticking out.The extra battery life is worth it and the netbook fits easy in your typical sleeve.I bought a standard netbook sleeve off the shelf for a bit of extra protection and the computer fits in with no issues. In fact, I'm able to get my travel mouse and power cord in with it, zipped up and all, which makes travel even easier.
------------------------
So I was recently in the market for a netbook for travel reasons and happened upon the Acer One.After days of reading reviews and visits to local electronic stores, I had narrowed my choices down to the Asus (10 hour battery life) EeePC and this Acer One.As luck would have it, I was in the market just as Windows 7 pre-orders began and both machines came through Amazon with the new OS.In the end, the AC adapter issues with the Asus kept me away, and I figured 10.5 vs. 9 hours of battery life wasn't too big of a difference (and neither would live up to the claims regardless).

The netbook arrived the day after Windows 7 was released and I immediately got to work removing the "extras" that come with the computer.Surprisingly though, Acer did not load too much bloat on the machine and getting it off took no time at all.So then began the installation process.Avast, Office, iTunes, CD Burning software, VLC, Chrome, Firefox, Skype and Quicktime (the usuals) were all immediate needs and all went on with ease.I did purchase the extra gig of RAM that is recommended on most other netbooks (read around and you'll see) as well, however, it did not come until 3 days later so I had a decent amount of time to play around with this machine with just 1g.

Even with 1 gig, iTunes ran smoothly, I was able to watch Hulu with no hiccups, Office didn't lag... I was actually quite surprised. The 2 gig showed up eventually though, and things got even better.Installation was a breeze (just open the memory "door" and clip it in) and took only 30 seconds. The computer recognized it instantly.Once up and running again, the system was noticeably faster... very noticeable.Having open multiple programs is not a problem at all (something I will admit I was concerned about initially).

Along the same lines as the memory upgrade, an external DVD drive may be another buy you will want (just like with every other netbook).I did not invest in one, simply because I will not be needing it, but just a thought when pricing out your "full" purchase.

So, what is good and what is bad?

Pros:

Battery life - lives up to the advertisement (for the most part).I run it on the intermediate setting and get 7 hours easy.Currently at 45% right now and have 4 hours and 5 minutes left.

Wireless N and Bluetooth - while not "necessary" these are very nice.I can pick up signals with my netbook that other laptops in the house cannot get.Range is amazing.

Speed - A lot faster than what I was expecting and blew away all my expectations.Just make sure you spend the extra 20-40 bucks and get the extra memory. You will see a big difference (keep in mind though, she does fine with 1 gig).2 is always better though.

Display - Very clear and easy on the eyes.Thought I might have issues with the small screen but it looks amazing.

Windows 7 - you can read the reviews about it specifically but it runs great.I'll leave it at that.

Cons:

Keyboard - slightly smaller than some other netbook keyboards out there and can be tricky sometimes.

Touchpad - Acer, as with others, boasts a multi-touch pad (similar to an iPhone or iPod Touch).Maybe I just haven't found the right use for it, but I find it nearly worthless and even when I can get it to "work," it is slow and not very useful. Also, some may find the touchpad a tad too small (at least I do). Finally, the click bar on the touchpad is not broken up into two buttons, and while this is fairly common, the click bar can be tough to click sometimes and there are times I will try to click and hit the middle, which does nothing, and you don't "know" until you look down to see what you're clicking.I think two distinct buttons would have been better and easier.

In the end, this model (and it's brightly colored siblings), in my view, are an excellent buy if you're in the market. At around $400 (depending on how much you get the RAM for), this machine comes with features that you will only find in more expensive netbooks. While I've only had it for a week, I will say I am very pleased with my investment. If time permits, I will update this to review how it holds up with travel, etc... but based on simple home wireless use, I have very very few complaints.

Nikon Coolpix 3200 3.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom Review

NikonCoolpix32003.2MPDigitalCamerawith3xOpticalZoom
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had my coolpix 3200 for about a week, and am really surprised at how good the pictures are, how easy it is to get the pictures into my PC, and how long the batteries last. I bought Duracell rechargeables with the camera, told my camera that these were the batteries I was using through its menu system, and have been taking pictures for a week on the same batteries. That's more than 80 pictures -- perhaps more -- all on the same 2 batteries, most of them using a flash. My battery charge meter has not even shown up yet.
When I first read the manual, I didn't understand the value of all the frame, portrait, and scene assist modes. As I've used the camera, though, I've come to see that they are very important. The frame and portrait assistants actually change the location of the auto-focus. When I am in sports mode, the camera's auto-focus is constantly changing so that the picture will shoot quickly when the shutter release is pressed. Shutter speed and aperature are adjusted depending on which scene I've selected. In other words, using the modes makes for much better pictures. They are more than just marketing pitches.
The software that came with the camera is okay, though it is nothing earth shaking. Better tools came with my scanner/copier/printer combo, but if you don't have those tools, what comes with the camera is much better than nothing and will get the job done.
I'm very satisfied. The camera is so small that I wear it in a tiny case on my belt all the time.
BTW, I was going to buy the 2200 instead, but am glad that I didn't. Once I had the manual (which is the same for both cameras), I saw that there are a number of small features that the 3200 has that are not available to the 2200. For example, the 3200 has sound for movies, the 2200 does not. You can record voice memos and set sounds for camera functions with the 3200. The 3200 can take more continuous pictures at a time (due to the higher resolution and space required). There are more differences, and most of them are small, but by the time you add them all up, it's worth the additional $100, in my oppinion.
I was an avid amateur photographer back "in the day", but grew tired of the hassles of large cameras and film developing. Thanks to this tiny, filmless camera, I'm a photographer again.

Creative Zen V Plus 4 GB Portable Media Player (Black/Blue) Review

CreativeZenVPlus4GBPortableMediaPlayer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In summary why I picked Zen V Plus:
-Good price/performance
-FM radio and voice recorder
-Small, scratch resistant and cool design
-Drag and drop capability
-Compability with different music stores
-Very easy and quick navigation
-Previous positive experience

If you want a more detailed comparison to IPOD-Nano and Sandisk Sansa C200 series, continue reading and scroll down, if not stop here and get back to what you were doing, or want to do or whatever... :-)First off, this is my second Creative product in less than a year. No, no the old one is still good (ZEN Nano Plus) indeed the best one I've ever had, but I decided to go with something with color and a more navigation-friendly menu. I am not new to digital music.I've had a pleuthora of MP3 players within the last 5 years. Starting with a 32MB RCA (terrible), a 128MB Samsung (Good), a HD based Dell DJ(died on me,) two 6GB Apple Minis (one's Hard drive died, the other's click-wheel gave up), a Zen Nano Plus (excellent) and now this cool 4 GB Zen V-Plus. Before deciding on my new ZEN, I had two other serious considerations :

1) IPOD NANO - 4GB or 6GB :
Although I really loved the look and the price (not much above its competition)of the new IPOD NANO, I could not go with it because of previous (baaaad) experience and the required slavery to it's ITUNES software. It just is a pain in the neck when using my own MP3s (non i-tunes songs) and other music stores' products. Plus it did not have FM and voice recording, which are, I admit, pretty cool features.

2)Sandisk Sansa E250 (4GB) or E270 (6GB):
This was my clear favourite before actually going into a store and physically feeling it. Sandisk is the lead flash card memory manufacturer and its memories are really hi-Q.That and its clearly lowest price among peers made me consider this one more seriously. It had the voice recording and FM radio options and did not have the dreaded mandatory music software. Had even a bigger screen (1.8 inches) than Zen V Plus (1.5 inches). So why did Sandisk got eliminated? Easy:

i)Extremely hard to use click-wheel, even if one has small hands (I don't,I am 6'2" and 200lbs, so in my case a total "forget it"). The wheel is elevated from the surface very little, you accidentally hit other buttons while trying to operate.

ii)Overall size and design. Sandisk looks like a fatter and less slick IPOD Nano. It does not have the different (shorter, squarer, more compact) feel of the Zen V Plus.Bottom line it is bigger and bulkier than both.

iii)Icon based menu. That is a total no go for a small screen gadget. Just stick to line-based menu like all the previous and current IPods if your screen is less than 3 inches accross.
So, cheaper, equipped with features like the Zen V Plus, with a bigger screen and comparable battery life, The Sandisk Sansa still got eliminated.

After a month, what do I think about my Zen V Plus (4GB)?
PROS:
-Great size, look and feel.
-Great, optional very easy to use Creative software.
-100% Drag and drop compatible.
-Vibrant colors.
-Easy to navigate menu.
-Easy to use joystick and buttons (except one, see below in CONS)
-Decent battery life.
-Great FM receiver.
-Price

CONS
-Hard to see the screen (OLED's curse) under direct sunlight.
-Charging through USB (the only supplied cable) takes forever.
-The placement of the "back" button. It should be on the left of the "play/pause" button not below. When the unit is in your palm unless you have a hyperextending thumb, it is hard to press this button - though possible.
-Screen is not big enough for video viewing. Although video playback is seamless and vibrant, the size is just too small.Don't let the video capability be a deciding factor if you are inclined.

Spectroniq DVD70X 7 Inch Portable DVD Player Review

SpectroniqDVD70X7InchPortableDVDPlayer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I paid $99 through HSN. It came with battery, two sets of earplugs, an earphone splitter for two sets of ears, various cables, including a car adapter and AC/DC charger, remote and a free heavy-duty carrying case. I thought I was getting a great deal.

The picture is fantastic. Sharp and clear. The battery was sufficient for a two+ hour movie.

The sound, however, stinks. Even with the volume turned all the way up, the sound comes out as a whisper. The earplugs provided made the sound louder, but they are uncomfortable, button-type earplugs. I tried a set of over-the-ear plugs, but the sound didn't register as well. So, I bought a small set of Sony external speakers at WalMart for $9.99, figuring that would solve the volume problem, but they didn't help either. The sound barely registered through them, so I'll have to return those speakers to the store.

I connected the DVD to my computer speakers. The sound came out loud and clear, but it isn't practical to lug those big speakers around. I bought this DVD player because I wanted portability.

I am puzzled as to where to turn next. I don't care how great the picture is. If you have to strain to hear the movie what good is a clear picture?

I am more than a bit disappointed with this machine.

The charging system already stopped charging correctly and the other users are correct. You move too quick you Blurrr.. I'm using the 720P mode which does help but a tri-pod should be used...color is a little off but for the price I paid I can't complain..photos are only ok as well but the 3inch screen is really great and the camera is all plastic so very light.
Luckly my remote controll uses the same exact battery which I bought for 6 bucks (2PK) else where and works great to use as a charger for the camera..I'm using a SNANDISK III 8GB class 6 SD card which works fine.
I did get very Lucky and bought the camera for 1/2 of the current sale price here at Amazon..currently 208.70 - Best price around right now! - I need to find out why the charging system is off or it could be that the camera just uses the battery even when Idle? I'll let the camera sit and the battery is less 2-3 bars in 2-3 days?
I do like how easy it is to use the camera and the ability to use the cable to connect the HDMI port on TV's to see and hear the video just made.( Have the Black DVR-840XHD for 2 months now - camera came out in Late march 09)
