(More customer reviews)I purchased one of these units with a little hesitation because of the cost.However, since I received it, and, put it to use, I cannot imagine how I could do without it.

Although relatively compact, and, gas-economical, this unit functions as well for tree cleanup as commercial units costing three to four times as much.

I have no problems chipping branches up to 3".The unit just eats them up in a few seconds.

The Shredder is adequate for anything up to about 3/4" in diameter.On larger branches, I feed the thick end to the chipper, chip it down to about an inch, then, feed the rest (including leaves) into the shredder hopper on top.

I will upload some digital sequences showing its operation.

This unit tows nicely from the freight dock, with fully pneumatic tires, and is easily portable around the place by ATV.

The mulch is VERY high quality.I mix it with some manure, and, compost, and it makes an excellent mulch for around trees, and, in the garden.

I have a small place in Colorado, and, about 11 acres in New England.This is adequate to steward the woods in both places.

This unit is sturdy as long as you don't abuse it.My local hardware store (only 35 miles away) used to rent these.They stopped renting them because users would abuse them.I asked them how they abused them.They said (a) they fed branches too large into the chipper and shredder, and, (b) they fed boards and fence posts with metal (nails mostly) in them.The metal tears up the insides of this machine.Don't abuse it, and, it will last for years.

(More customer reviews)We purchased the Praxis PRX50 last week for use in removing stumps from our property as we clear brush.Under its previous owner, much of our acreage became overrun with yaupon, cedar and other small trees and shrubs, and now we spend great effort clearing the brush away and restoring our beautiful pastures and forest.The work is very difficult, but only after the stumps are removed are the cleared areas truly maintainable in the future.For years I've removed the stumps by hand (axe, grubbing hoe and many hard hours of labor), and I've always wanted an easier and faster way to accomplish the task.

The Praxis PRX50 is unique in its size and price.At about 105 lbs, its very easy for my wife and I to lift, and when necessary I can move it myself (all other stump grinders we could find are much heavier).As well, the price of the PRX50 is *well* below any other machine we could find.Both of these factors result from the smaller footprint and engine of the PRX50 (only 5.5hp, while most other grinders are 10hp and above, and are physically larger).We decided upon the PRX50 because it was affordable and so incredibly portable.

The majority of stumps we have to remove are under 6" across, and within a small area we typically have dozens of such stumps.While I'm certain that more horsepower would result in faster grinding, the 5.5hp engine on the PRX50 provides ample power for our personal needs, and its light weight makes it uniquely nimble when moving quickly from stump to stump. I can remove a 3" stump in less than 30 seconds, and a 6" stump in less than 4 minutes.An area of stumps that previously required more than a day to clear by hand now requires less than an hour with very little effort -- and with better results.

The Praxis appears to be well built.The machine is fairly simple, and is made from very sturdy, quality materials throughout.It appears that maintenance is limited to the usual engine maintenance (a standard Honda 5.5hp engine), and occasional sharpening of the grinding teeth.After two days of using the machine, the teeth haven't dulled much -- especially the sides of the teeth where the real cutting is done.It seems that I'll get many more days of grinding before having to sharpen the teeth (I can either do it myself, or pay Praxis $20 to do it for me).

I would eagerly recommend the PRX50 for anyone looking for a highly affordable, highly portable stump grinder.If I were a landscaper wanting to remove sizeable stumps, and if time was a issue, and if I had a crew to help me move my equipment, I'd probably choose a machine with more horsepower.However, because it is just my wife and I to do the work, we simply can't effectively use equipment that is too heavy and unwieldy.The PRX50 perfectly fits our needs, and its capabilities are perfectly suited to the very large task that we have for it!The PRX50 is a real pleasure -- thank you Praxis!

Extremely well built.Assembled in minutes.Does exactly what it says it will do.I like to create new flower beds, or pine straw islands areas under trees. For large areas like total lawn replacement rent a gas powered sod cutter.But for smallareas this is perfect!Make sure lawn is moist and soil is somewhat loose.
This is great for new flower beds.It clears the grass roots and all!!Then I rototille, mix in compost and have the best edge I have ever had!

(More customer reviews)The motor/shredder unit (the heaviest part of the machine) is tongue mounted and moves considerably side-to-side as the terrain changes, causing the discharge elbow to get out of alignment with the opening in the leaf cart. This causes the connecting boot to wear out almost immediately. In addition, the tilt/dump feature is worthless since debris still has to be raked out.

This could be a great machine if the manufacturer would simply beef up the framing, tie the motor and cart to that framing, and eliminate the dumping feature. The philosophy is great, but the design is lacking...be prepared to re-build it yourself if satisfaction is the goal.

(More customer reviews)Needed a 120 volt dryer for my apartment. We got the spacesaver after trying brand-X and returning it.

We had the DSKP...(P)portable with wheels, not the DSKS...(S) stationary without wheels. According to the literature they are identical except that the some DSKS... are made to be stacked above a washer in a combination frame with a washer on bottom, the labels/dial readings are "upside down" because they flipped the dryer over and put the controls on the bottom so they are easier to reach.

This GE dryer is more expensive than the competitors but well worth it, and you'll save electricity. It is much quieter than the other brand too. The GE heated air enters the tumbler drum from a large rear grating and exits the front door, forcing heated air through the clothes before it exhausts the machine.

Tried one other brand of 120 volt electric dryer, which is the same unit as all others on the market, with simply different cosmetics. They all look the same. All others had air entering in the left rear of the tumbler and exiting the right rear of the tumbler. That kind of design makes the heated air simply bypass the clothes, exit the machine, and the clothes just take forever to dry. Also, with the other brand's design you have to reach inside the tumbler to get to the lint cleaner, nightmare. You have to reach into the rear of the tumbler to get, and disassemble it just to see if the lint needs cleaning. I had it and returned it.

The GE design puts the lint cleaner in the front door. One slide and you can check it out. I did have to file down little catches on it to make it jam less and not require jiggling.

My GE was made in Mexico, which is much better than overseas for quality control, materials. Also, toxic fumigant, like fungicide and pesticides are not necessary when trucking from Mexico, as they are needed when shipped in containers from Asia. The quality and workmanship in my GE dryer (from Mexico) was better than the other dryer (which I returned,) which I believe was made in USA.

I am very sensitive to toxic odors from paints and materials. I have a severe case of MCS. This GE machine had no real problems for me. The Dura Drum is just a hard metal paint coating and gives off no vapors or fumes. So I was pleasantly surprised. The other competitor's dryer I tried had an fresh paint type of smell, that sometimes gave me headaches if I got too close without holding my breath. (It wasn't a Dura Drum.)

There is one thing I did not like about the GE (but I corrected it) and could be a major problem for people with weak hands and/or arthritis. There is no door handle, per se, but you pry the door open from the doorframe with your hand. There is just a recess, pressed into the design of the chassis door frame, to pry it open. It is hard, maybe impossible for an elderly person. To make the prying even more tedious (and possible more damaging to the hinges in the long run) the location of the latch is offset from the location of recess in the door frame, used to pry it open. So some of your prying force is diverted, twisting the door hinges a bit, before it pops open.

The dryer door does need to be very tight, since the rubber stripping around it needs to keep it airtight, because the door holds the lint filter and exhaust port. This is good design for cross ventilated drying, as stated above, nowithstanding the absence of a descent door handle.

When you get the dryer, you might want to keep a piece of wood handy with which to pry the door open, (about 1/2" X 2" x 12") instead of using your hand.

To remedy this, soon after we started using it, I drilled four screws in the dryer door to install a metal gate handle (that I could grab) on the dryer door - dead center over the latch (which is not the center of the door, by the way.) I used nylon insert lock nuts on machine screws, so my handle will never come loose.

Putting a metal handle on the door, as we did, directly over the latch, was tremendous help. It was tedious handyman surgery, but we have been very happy with the dryer, since I made this customized improvement.

Filling the dryer up a little less than halfway, dries clothes in about an hour. Filling it up more than that causes the clothes to "ball up" and not get enough air between them.

That seems like a long time to dry, but that's about the best you can expect from a 120V machine, which makes less heat than a toaster-oven. It runs for hours on washday, but we don't mind because it is very quiet, and hate doing laundry in the apartment's laundromat, where our clothes they get contaminated with some of the most toxic vapors under the sun. We like our fragrance-free, chemical-free clothes, and this dryer doesn't cook them either.

(More customer reviews)We bought this saw to do some occasional veneer matching when building one-up pieces of furniture.It was often too time consuming to set up our main resaw (A Stenner) for veneer cuts. We had hoped that the reduced setuptimes would pay back the relatively high price for this saw.The frame ofthis saw seems strong enough to use a motor that is larger than what itarrived with and it needs it.The saw is under powered to do resaw work onoak, teak or maple.In thinking about it later we decided that when a 3"blade is mounted on these small diameter wheels the sheer power of bendingthe blade around two tires must take up a large portion of the availablehorsepower.This is horsepower that is not applied to the cut. Additionally the blades thin kerf tended to bind on all but the dryest ofwoods.We set the blade wider but then controlling the stock as it was fedwas worse and the new set robbed even more power.If the saw had cutbetter we probably would have found a happy medium but we soon foundourselves going back to the arduous setups on the 20 horsepower Stenner.While the details of the guides, fence, table adjustment mechanisms anddust chute were pure Hitachi quality I cannot recommend this saw for resawwork. It is a pleasure to use for standard pattern work.However that canbe said of some bandsaws that cost less than half as much.

(More customer reviews)I bought this compressor for use in heavy commercial construction. It is more portable than the wheelbarrow compressors and can be put in the back of a pickup truck (unit is no feather weight though --- about 70 lbs!) This compressor has the best of all features--- reliable Honda engine, reliable Emglo compressor, overbuilt protective frame and quality gauges and quick connects make this an outstanding compressor. In commercial work, there are usually several trades on site (electrician, plumber, HVAC) and all of these guys are using the same power source. Most compressors capable of running two frame nailers draw enough power that it will constantly trip the the breaker on a temporary service pole unless run on 240 volts.With the gasoline compressor, all you have to do is make sure it has fuel and start it up! No extension cords and no more tripped breakers! We have used this compressor to run two paslode frame nailers shooting down 5/8" plywood nailed every 3" around the perimeter (120 mph rating) and this little guy could amazingly keep up! The compressor isn't louder than the DeWalt electric counterpart when running and the Honda engine means it will run for many years to come. Would not recommend this one for strictly running a finish nailer because of the overkill factor. Go buy a lighter,less expensive compressor for the finish guns. This machine is meant to turn out a much more substantial amount of air!
The only downside to this compressor is the price and its weight. That is a lot of money to shell over for a machine that does nothing more than compress air! But, then again, would you really be reading this if all you needed was an average duty Lowe's variety compressor? And if you have a pickup, leave the unit in the back and let it run. After a full day of installing sheathing, it can be a chore to load this 70lb. compressor up.
This is why I rate it 4 versus 5 stars due to the cost and weight. It seems like they could have trimmed a few more pounds off the compressor and a few more dollars!

I had purchased a washer/dryer from them in 2006 and it was sold to me with a full 2-year warranty (one of the reasons to choose it then). Now it is broken and they don't want to honor the warranty telling that they have no legal obligations to do so.

(More customer reviews)This is sold by Sears and I suspect a number of other companies.It's a nice unit, starts easily and works for us. We have huge Pine and Oak trees and it handles both fall "products" from them well.I suggest you first mow the lawn short and use a bagger on the reg lawn mower the first time, then use the vac.Does it get 100% of the pine needle and leaves, no but much better than a rake. The hose thing is "OK" but not great, better to rake the stuff into an area where the vac can run over it.

(More customer reviews)I've had this pool cleaner for two years...going on my third summer.I had the "lady bug" type before for my 12 X 28 Doughboy pool.This Robo Kleen is 100% better.You drop it in and turn it on...the rest is done auto-matically.The pool is sparkling clean real quick.The machine has a cloth-type filter that is easy to take off and spray clean.My filter is still as good as the first day I got it and it has cleaned hundreds of times. Also, by running this cleaner and not the big filter that was running the "lady bug", I see a big difference in power usage.

The one draw back to this machine is when you remove the machine from the water. Its heavy for a few moments untill the water drains out...probably about 50 pounds.Its no problem for me, but too much for the wife or kids.Just be aware.Overall I'd rate my happiness at about 90% with the product.The price, at about $500 with S/H, was the biggest obstacle but after you see how well it works...the money is at least well spent.Happy Swimming!

6 1/2 HP Bench Grinder" Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this as a second bench grinder for knife sharpening using buffing wheels so i wouldn't have to swap my stones out for cotton wheels all the time, and it doesn't even have the torque for buffing a knife!!! I use a Sesale wheel and a cotton wheel with buffing compound and you can hear the motor start to strain as soon as the sesale wheel touches the metal. I also stalled it out with a PLASTIC bottle..... no way its a 1/2hp don't waste your money.

I bought this to catch misting coolent from a small milling machine (HF47158) which it does fine. It's not going to catch flood cooling but does fine with the mist cooling. If you are going to use flood cooling, you are going to have to have an enclosure for the whole mill to keep it contained. The misting coolent dosen't drip that much off of the mill when running so this does a great job. Not the intended purpose but works fine for this application!

16 Ton AIR Hydraulic Pipe Tube Bender Bending Review

(More customer reviews)I am a retired high school Agricultural Mechanics teacher, with 31 years of experience of teaching welding and agricultural equipment fabrication.I have built, from scratch, hundreds of pieces of farm equipment, using a wide variety of equipment, including a hydraulic pipe bender.I know how it is done!I wanted to build a hay trailer at home, and had always wanted to have my own hydraulic pipe bender.I couldn't justify spending $2,500.00 on one like I had at my school shop.After reading and studying, I decided on purchasing this 16 Ton AIR Hydraulic Pipe tube bender."Bends 1/2", 3/4",1",1-1/2",2",2-3/4", 2-1/2" and 3" pipes."

The package was shipped, and arrived exactly on time, as promised by Pro-Line Trading Corp.Because of its weight, it was shipped in two separate boxes, and thus delivered by two separate Fed-Ex trucks.The bender itself, had been repackaged in a mis-labeled box for some sort of a transmission jack.However, all of the parts were there, and except for some box damage done by Fed-Ex, the product was in good conditioin.This is where the good part ends.

There is a single sheet of paper giving a very brief diagram of how to assemble the product.There is no instruction manual, and nothing to show the user how to determine which holes to use for the rollers based on the size ofpipe.The bender has 8 bending shoes, but only 6 holes for the rollers, so you sure can't assume that anything should match up.When bending large pipe, the jack barely has the necessary length of stroke to achieve a 90 degree bend, and there is no scale to indicate when you are getting close to the desired bend.

In their own words, "Bends Virtually All Types Of Pipe Except Conduit."Well I am bending brand new, 2.5" schedule 40 steel pipe, which fits into the parameters stated by the company.My first attempts were on some brand new, standard 1" sch. 40 black pipe.What a mess!There is no way this bender, using the correct shoe, could bend this pipe without the pipe failing and the bend forming a sharp kink, and not a nice round radius bend.I cleaned all of the paint off of the rollers, and oiled the rollers, adjusted the spacing on the rollers, and tried again.Nothing but failure resulted.

I hesitantly moved on to my 2.5" pipe bends, hoping that I would have more success.I cleaned all of the parts and attempted my first bend.It did bend the pipe, but caused a crushed spot on one side of the bend, as the shoe did not stay plumb on the jack as it extended.I soon discovered that the cast iron shoe plate that comes in contact with the jack, is not parallell to the bending shoe, thus causing an undesirable bend. It wasn't even close to right.My old tired bi-focaled eyes could see that it was not right without the use of a straight edge.I gently ground off nearly 1/8" of material from the one side of the shoe to "true it up".My plans called for 24 pieces of pipe cut 34" long, and bent at the 16" line from one end. I actually got it to bend 2 pieces of pipe that were relatively identical (only 22 more to go).The next two bends attempted resulted in the pipe kinking up and out of the bending shoe... more failure.At $3.02 per foot of pipe, I achieved 3 usable pieces out of a 21' section of pipe.That is a 42.8% success rate, which is unacceptable.

The one thing I can say about the advertising of this product, is that it does indeed, bend pipe.I did email Pro-Line and told them that I wasn't impressed.They stated that they only sell high quality tools, and that they check their products for quality before they put it into their sales catalog.Well, I defy the people from Pro-Line Trading to fabricate 24 pieces of pipe like I was trying to bend, so that they come out within 1/4" of tolerance, and a 100% successful bend rate (which I routinely achieved with high school students' projects).It can't be done!I told them, and I maintain my opinion, that the biggest problem here is that this product comes from CHINA.I should've known better than to expect anything of workable quality to come out of CHINA.DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$ ON THIS PRODUCT!Its not worth the effort, expense, and time to send it back.I guess I have a pretty good, 16T air/hydraulic jack for $249.99 + $110.88 shipping.I will be much more careful what I buy off of Amazon again.
