The vendor was prompt and item arrived undamaged.

(More customer reviews)First, let me start by addressing the other reviews that have been critical of the quality of the Haier Tabletop Wine Cellar.I've used mine for over a month with no issues, and I believe I may have an explanation for others' perceived problems.The unit works by cycling a cooling fan on and off as needed, so it doesn't continuously run like most refrigerators do.Also, its thermostat is extremely particular, i.e. if it senses that it's cold enough, you can't turn it down low enough to force the fan to kick on.Finally, remember that this is a wine cooler, not a mini-fridge, and that wine isn't meant to be kept as cold as other beverages.We have our unit stored in a pantry on the coldest corner of our house and it keeps the wine right while barely running the fan.These circumstances could lead to a misperception that the unit has completely stopped working when in fact, it's just accurately having an "off" cycle.If my Wine Cellar ever does truly stop working, I'll certainly update this review.

Potential dependability issues aside, there are still critical problems with the Tabletop Wine Cellar that keep it from being a realistic solution for most people.The most immediate one is size - when you pull it out of the box, you'll scratch your head wondering whether or not you really picked up the model for "Tabletop" use.Somewhere in the world, counters must be much deeper than where I live!I can't verify the dimensions that are quoted above, but the depth seems suspiciously small.Plus, the instructions for the unit specify that it needs several inches of clearance on the back and sides for ventilation.Taking this additional space into consideration, the Cellar is about the size of a microwave oven but much deeper.Our solution was to put it sideways on a microwave cart in a separate room;however, having to do so is a pretty big deviation from the way that it's advertised.In case you're planning on building it into a cabinet or bar as a workaround, the instructions prohibit that as well (again for ventilation concerns).

The second issue is that even as big as the Wine Cellar is on the outside, it's ironically cramped on the inside.Any bottle bigger than 750 mL will not fit unless you remove one of the wire racks, thus reducing it to an eight-bottle capacity (four 750 and four larger ones).Even if you stick with the standard bottle volume, some unusually-shaped bottles will still not fit.For instance, we found that the extra tall, skinny bottles of Chateau Ste. Michel have to be put in diagonally so that basically only one bottle fits per shelf and then you've got to be careful that it doesn't roll out when you open the door.

On the positive side, the unit is very quiet - even when the fan is running, it's no louder than the fan on a new PC.It's also attractively styled in black with the appearance of a brushed pewter frame for the glass door.The door seal and hinge both feel solid and sturdy.The thermostat actually does result in a range of temperatures, but this of course precludes storing white and red together.

To sum up, the Haier Wine Cellar attempts to do the impossible - providing a chiller spacious enough for a case of wine yet compact enough to fit neatly on a kitchen countertop - but ultimately can't quite do it.I haven't experienced any of the motor failure problems that others have described (yet);mine has been a reliable performer.Unfortunately, the additional workaround of where to keep the unit and what to do about the bottles that won't fit in it reduce the Wine Cellar to much less than a hassle-free solution.

(More customer reviews)My house was built using the BRK 9120B smoke alarms. A few months after moving in, they would go off in the middle of the night for no apparent reason (there were no fires). Never during the day, of course - always when I was deep asleep. Contacted BRK customer Service and was told the 9120 was susceptible to power fluctuations and that the power companies were known to 'do things' in the midle of the night. To test I disconnected the electrical connection and ran on battery only for a year - no false alarms. I ordered the 7010B to replace them and so far so good. The replacement was very easy as the connection plug is the same. I did have to remove and replace the mounting ring but that was only two screws per unit, and even then you only had to loosen the screws.

(Gee, don't you think THEY would have known that they worked on different frequencies.What was the guy on the phone thinking???)Anyway, I returned it at my expense, they then charged me shipping up front for the replacement.It's now a month later and I still haven't received it.Their "Lack of Customer Service" department tells me it is back-ordered.BUT, as of today (june 25, 2007) it is listed as "In Stock" here on Amazon.

My advice... STAY AWAY

They worked fine for about 18 months, then they developed an issue with a dirty relay that caused them to hold the gate open a few times a week, letting our animals escape. I was really glad this unit had a two-year warranty, until I was informed of the fine print. The manufacturer starts the warranty clock on the day the unit is delivered to the dealer. While your unit sits on his shelf, your warranty ticks away. You have no control over how old the unit is that they're going to ship you, so you don't know how much warranty you'll have on the unit when it arrives. The manufacturer doesn't sell directly to consumers, so there's no way around it. Buyer beware.

As the opener is a Sears product, I checked with them for a remote, & as they no longer make this particular one, I was told I'd have to order their universal remote at $80+ dollars. I elected to check online 1st & found this item. As one of our vehicles has buttons on the visor to program such electronics as the garage door opener, I needed the remote to be able to do that as well. I was relieved to find that the remote was easy to program to work the opener and thrilled that it also easily programmed to the car buttons.

She called the 800 number within a couple of days they sent another complete system. She just took out the new receiver, replaced it with the old one sent the system back to the company as damaged. Now our system works great no false alarms from animals or children.We Love it!!

(More customer reviews)After reading the 2 previous reviews I wasn't expecting much light output from the bulb, so I wasn't really disappointed.The light output is about that of the coleman battery powered camping lanterns, which is to say not bright but "bright enough" when you really need light.While it is somewhat dispersed the light mostly seems to shine more or less straight out the top of the bulb, and so would make an excellent choice for a directed reading lamp.I will use it in my bedside table lamp since I really only need to see well enough to get dressed in the morning.You'd probably need 2 or 3 such bulbs to adequately light a small room such as a bathroom if it is going to be your main lighting source and not just an accent light.While perfect for "off grid" homes where extreme measures of conserving energy are crucial, the price would have to come down to make sense for most of you.
