The Toronto Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance with an assault investigation.

It is reported that:

- on Friday, May 11, 2012, at 9:45 a.m, a 51-year-old man, the victim, boarded a southbound TTC bus in the Kipling Avenue/Westhumber Boulevard area

- the victim was involved in a dispute on the bus with another man

- the victim was punched in the face by the man

The suspect is described as black, 20, black hair pulled back in a ponytail. He was last seen wearing beige pants and a blue button-down shirt.

Missing boy, Gabriel James Cestona, 6


The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance locating a missing boy.

Gabriel James Cestona, 6, was last seen on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at his home in Toronto, and is believed to be with his mother, Tanya Cestona. He is described as 2'8", 60 lbs., with short black hair and brown eyes.

Media advisory, Saturday, June 2, 2012, 9 a.m., Lake Shore Boulevard East/Leslie Avenue, Bicycle Registration & Theft Program


On Saturday, June 2, 2012, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Toronto Police Service, in conjunction with Canadian Tire, will be kicking off a Bicycle Registration and Theft-Prevention Campaign at the Canadian Tire Store at 1025 Lake Shore Boulevard.

Each year in Toronto, thousands of bicycles are stolen. Many of these bicycles are recovered within a short time but police are unable to identify their owners.

With this campaign we will try to educate the public in theft-prevention techniques to help to stem the tide of thefts.

The Toronto Police Service, as well as Canadian Tire employees, will be showing theft-prevention tips, safe-riding techniques and giving people the opportunity to speak with TPS bicycle officers.

Canadian Tire will have their “Spin” team giving free bike-safety adjustments. Members of the Toronto Police Service will also be inspecting car-seat installations with our car-seat personnel.

The goals of this campaign are to:

1) Educate members of the public in bicycle theft-prevention
2) Reduce the theft of bicycles
3) Return a greater number of stolen bicycles to their owners

Man charged in subway voyeurism investigation, Update, Photograph of man released


On Wednesday, May 30, 2012, the Toronto Police Service issued a news release regarding the arrest of a man in connection with a subway voyeurism investigation.

Eugene Couto, 35, of Tottenham, has been charged with Voyeurism.

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, courtroom #501, at 10 a.m.

Investigators believe there may be more victims.

Judicial authorization obtained to release photograph of accused, Nicholas Dillion-Jack, 18, Authorization prohibits any publication of the photograph after it expires at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, Update, Authorization to publish photograph expired


On Friday, May 25, 2012, at 5:20 p.m., the TPS issued a news release which explained that judicial authorization had been obtained to publish a photograph of Nicholas Dillion-Jack, 18, taken when the subject was under 18.

See previous release.

That authorizartion has expired. No one is now allowed to publish that picture.

Public Safety Alert, Thefts targeting seniors


The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of three theft investigations where the victims have been seniors.

It is reported that:

- on Monday, May 14, 2012, a man was seated in his vehicle, waiting for his wife outside a drug store on Leslie Street, when three woman approached him and asked if he wanted to buy some jewelry

- one of the women reached into the car and placed a gold chain on the victim’s neck, who was wearing a gold chain of his own at the time

- when the woman removed the gold chain she had placed around his neck, she also took the victim’s gold chain

- the second women reached into the car and placed a gold bracelet on the victim’s wrist, who was wearing a gold bracelet of his own at time

- when the woman removed the gold bracelet she had placed on his wrist, she took the victim’s gold bracelet from his wrist as well

It is further reported that:

- on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, a woman was in her vehicle on Victoria Park Avenue when she was approached by two men and a woman

- one of the men distracted her by telling her that his mother had passed away a year ago and asking her to pray with him,

- while distracted, the woman placed a gold chain on the victim’s wrist, who was already wearing two gold bangles

- when the woman removed the gold chain from the victim's wrist, the woman also took her two gold bangles as well

It is further reported that:

- on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, a blind man walking on Victoria Park Avenue was approached by a man and a woman

- the man distracted the victim by telling him his mother passed away last year and that he wanted to give him a present

- the woman placed a gold chain on the victim’s neck, who was already wearing a gold chain at the time

- when the woman removed the gold chain she had placed on his neck, she took the victim’s gold chain as well

The public are advised to exercise caution when approached by someone trying to sell them jewelry or placing jewelry on them.

Man charged in subway voyeurism investigation, Police believe there may be more victims


On Tuesday, May 29, 2012, the Toronto Police Service Transit Patrol Unit received a report of a man taking photographs of unsuspecting females at Eglinton subway station.

It is alleged that:

- the man followed females within the subway station and took photographs and/or video recordings by reaching under the victims' skirts with his cellular phone

Eugene Couto, 35, of Tottenham, has been charged with Voyeurism.

He is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, courtroom #501, at 10 a.m.

Investigators believe there may be more victims.
