The day before the pph
surgery:
Unlike other surgical procedures with this one there is no need
to empty your body inside out. However, not eating or drink
anything for a day before it helps with giving yourself few extra
hours for recovery before you have to go and use the
bathroom for your # 1 and 2.
On the day of the surgery:
The pph surgery takes around 20 min. You can either opt to have a local anesthesia or full one and wake up when it is all done. You will probably wake up with quite strong pain in your bottom and you will need to tell your nurse so she can give you pain medication.
One thing to remember is your doctor will not let you go home until you have managed to do your first pee after the surgery. Now this could take longer than you expect. If you do not manage to pee for few hours the nurse will give you to drink water and soda with caffeine to stimulate the action. If 5 to 8 hours later you still have not peed they will have to install a catheter (not fun at all).
You may request to have a catheter fitted while you are still under the anesthesia even though your doctor may insist that you will not have problem with your first pee. All of those nerve endings around your bottom area effect your urinating and because they have been traumatized during the hemorrhoid surgery you would experience problems for a while but you will be fine in few short days.
Recovery Period:
Be well prepared and have arrangements for someone to take care of your day to day needs for the first week. Your recovery may take between 2 to 4 weeks. You will also need someone to drive you home. Be sure that person is aware to slow down far in advance of stops and to take bumps in the road with care. You may want to be lying down on the back seat instead of sitting up.
If you have had other previous surgeries you will have some scaring tissue left up inside your bottom and will take longer to recover from the pph surgery. Your recovery will also be more painful than if you had not had any other types of surgery in the past. You need to stock up on pain medication. Taking a lot of hot baths, 2-4 per day, helps a lot with reducing the pain.
As a result of the tissue inside being irritated you might experience burning pain and also feel like you have not finished with your bowel movement. You should avoid keep trying and strain as it will make it worse. Try not to sit on the toilet and wait for longer than 10 min after you have pooped.
Make sure you only use stool softeners and not something that will give you a loose (or runny) stool as it will farther irritate your bottom and may even cause it to become raw.
Try not to eat food for the first 4 days, just liquids such as fruit juice, then after that add purees for the following 3 days. After the first week you can eat “regular” food.
The rule of thumb is your stool should have a consistency similar to tooth paste. Keep in mind that too much fiber and a rather loose stool will cause a burning sensation and not enough fiber and a hard stool will cause pain. It is tricky but you will find the balance just eat smaller portions and drink LOTS of water.
Avoid eating foods high in fat and poor on fiber. Make sure you eat plenty of fresh fruits such as pears, plums, apples, and other foods rich on fiber. Drink plenty of water and if possible freshly squeezed fruit juice.
Here are some things to consider having ready before the surgery:
- Stool softener: Colace, Milk of Magnesia, Metamucil, Citrucel,
Sennakot, delcolax, mineral oil, fish oil, etc.
- Multivitamin and Magnesium supplements
- Pain meds: Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, etc.
- Epsom salts and Sitz bath
- Fruits including prunes, vegetables, greens, bran, juice (prune
juice), canned fruit, soups, jelly, puddings, wheat bread,
yogurt
- Entertainment such us books, magazines, movies etc to pass time

Is hemorrhoid pph surgery painful?
The answer to this question tends to be fairly simple. It seems to me that there is an equal chance to experience heavy pain as well as have a relevantly painless recovery. People’s experiences can be evenly divided in three groups.
Some of the sufferers describe their post surgical recovery as the most horrific and painful experience in their life. I have read about some people being in so much pain that they actually thought they will die, while others have physically passed out while trying to pass the stools during the first few bowel movements after the procedure.
The other group of people have mentioned a fairly strong but bearable with the aid of painkillers recovery which lasted for up to 10 days.
The third group of people is the lucky ones. They experience moderate to very low pain. Some had even had just a simple discomfort which lasted only for the first few days after the surgery.
In any case the recovery term after a hemorrhoid pph surgery as well as the difficulty and level of complications vary significantly from person to person making it very unpredictable.
Will I lose Bowel Movement control?
Although not very common, it does occur. I understand that it really depends on the level of irritation the anal muscles have suffered during the surgery. It is a factor of the skill and experience of the surgeon performing the treatment. If it occurs it normally lasts for only couple of days but it can have a persistent leak of stool for a week or two.
Is hemorrhoid pph surgery worth it?
After the recovery period is over, the majority of people who opted to have the hemorrhoid pph surgery are convinced that it is 100% worth the struggle. Those who had very mild or no pain after the operation have no hesitation to state that it was the best option they could ever take. I also have to mention that even the people who had an extremely painful recovery, looking back few years later, are convinced that despite the recovery complications if they had to do it again they will not think twice and do it right away.
Despite hemorrhoid pph surgery being a successful procedure, people still ask themselves if there was a better way to go about it. Many sufferers are wondering if there is a painless natural method for curing hemorrhoids. Since this disease dates back 4000 years, there are some old and newly discovered remedies.
My research has shown that there are natural remedies that do provide more holistic and painless method to cure hemorrhoids. You can even do it from the comfort and privacy of your own home avoiding any embarrassment and humiliation having to go to doctors, numerous examinations and asking people to take care of you for the first few days after the surgery.
Although, hemorrhoid pph surgery is a highly successful procedure it can be avoided and be considered as being the absolutely last resource. You can learn more about alternative hemorrhoid treatment by visiting 100% Natural Hemorrhoid Cure
PPH Surgery is short for Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids also known as Hemorrhoid PPH. This is a surgical treatment for removal of advanced stage hemorrhoids such us grade 2, 3 and 4. In this surgical procedure a circular staples are used to reduce the prolapse, of the tissue by literally repositioning, or lifting up, of the rectal canal tissue causing a reduced blood flow to the hemorrhoids. The pursued result is they eventually shrink and die.
Comparatively, PPH Surgery is much less intrusive; it is associated with less pain and faster recovery normally between 2 to 8 weeks.
Although, Hemorrhoid PPH is effective and comparatively less
painful there are some serious potential Risks and
Complications to be considered prior to undergoing the pph
surgery:
1. Potential Inflammation and Infection of the rectal wall -
this may be caused by muscle tissue being dragged into the
device used to install the circular staples
2. Potential damaging of the internal muscle of the sphincter -
this would result in long or short-term dysfunction and cause
severe pain or involuntary urination or defecation
On the other hand it can provide permanent relief from hemorrhoid suffering.
If you are considering going ahead with Hemorrhoid PPH here are some
questions to ask your doctor:
- Has he performed this procedure before?
- How many patients has he treated with it?
- Will you be required to spend time in the hospital and how
long?
- Will you need to undertake any long term work changes and
physical activities?
- Why is he recommending this particular procedure over the
others?
- How long will the recovery process be?
- How long the procedure would lasts for?
- How long before you can go back to "normal" diet and
activities?
- What are all of the potential risks and complications of
Hemorrhoid PPH surgery?
We all know that with any surgical procedure there are benefits as well as risks that we need to carefully consider. My all time personal philosophy is that no matter what, surgical procedure of any kind is the last treatment I will ever consider. First, I would exhaust every possible natural hemorrhoid cure and if all options have failed to produce sustainable result only than I will consider surgery.
