U.S. Senate Republicans are demanding that the Obama Administration provide them with information about the guidelines used to release detainees from Guantanamo Bay.
In December, Republican members of the Senate Intelligence Committee sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder requesting documents on the administration’s detainee release program. After Obama pledged to close Guantanamo in 2009, a Guantanamo Detainee Review Task Force was formed to figure out how to deal with the remaining detainees.
The Senators have also requested a memo from Holder that they believe pressured the supposed bipartisan task force to lean toward transferring prisoners rather than indefinite detention of these terrorists.
