My Computer Has A Virus And I Need Help! My Job Depends On It!?

Was using the wireless internet at the mall and came home and tried to open some programs and was told that the file was infected. Then a notice came up on the bottom right with an icon Ive never seen before saying that my computer was at risk and to click it. I clicked it and it opened to a site trying to sell me some anti virus software but it didnt seem to be legitimate. It also will not let me go on any other site on the internet, it just goes to this site wanting to sell me this anti virus software. I ran my own anti virus software and it found some adware and malware problems and said it deleted them but nothing has changed and every time I use my own scan the same things pop up. My desktop comes up just fine and everything. But when I try to use anything on my computer the ad for the anti virus pops up and I get errors telling me that certain named files are infected. Now my problem is that I was just hired on as Web Designer and I need my computer more than ever and if I dont have it I will lose my position. I dont have money and I need to get this fixed ASAP! Does anyone know how to fix this Please help. God bless.
