The National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of the more
popular sports tournaments that are watched all over the world. The
mere mention of the word NBA would surely elicit some response from
a random crowd. One of the teams that come to mind when people hear
NBA is the Miami Heat. Miami Heat was started in 1988 as an
expansion team.
Heat tickets are sought out by many basketball fans.
They have been playing in the playoffs for 13 seasons since they
were first formed. Under their belt, they have won 7 division
titles and a championship in 2006.
The start of the Heat was rough. They were mainly composed of young
players. It was difficult for them when they were placed in the
Midwest division. They traveled hundreds of mile just to get to
their matches. Regardless, fans and supporters still bought their
Heats ticket with them as they went on road trips to
watch their team play. The team had their first winning season in
1993-94, with a 42-40 record.
With the hiring of the famous Pat Riley as the head coach in 1995,
the team seemed to face a new hope. The sale of the Heat tickets
was rejuvenated as the roster was changed. The team did not win the
playoffs to the Bulls. They lost to the Bulls again the following
season, however it was noted that there was an improvement in the
plays. The Heat garnered more fans and supporters as they improved
their games.
The Heat moved to American Airlines Arena in 1999. The new arena
can support over 20,000 Heats ticket holders and avid fans. The
beginning of the new millennium was a start over for the team. With
a fresh roster filled with promising players, the team is prepared
to face all. Riley stepped down as the head coach of the team in
2003 to focus on being the team president. With the young players
at hand, the team was rejuvenated and even the more weathered
members had their careers revived.
In 2004, the team acquired Shaq from the Lakers. Together with
Wade, they became a combination to deal with in the NBA. They
managed to get a 59-23 record that season, their second best in
franchise history. In 2005, Pat Riley once again stepped in as the
head coach as the current head coach that year stepped down. With
him leading the team, the Heat won their first Championship in
2006.
The fan base of the team has been steadily growing because of the
great games the Heat is showing. And the team has shown nothing but
improvement. Getting their next Championship is well within reach
for the Heat.
