Wouldn’t you like to know How Many One Way Links Needed to Get Google Page 1.

This video explains why it is NOT possible to guess – but does illustrate how to see your backlinks.

Off-page factors are the KEY – one major influence is the number of backlinks and there is a free way to get links.

Remember – that the page supplying the link must be on theme, and the anchor text should reflect the content of the landing page.

* Do not use the same anchor text (this is a flag for Google)
* Do add some “mum” links (ie the anchor text could be your url, click here, cool site – why? this is what is natural!!)
* Do mix in some nofollow links (natural – and the link page may pass some trust; do you not think Wikipedia pages pass some trust – they do use editors!)

Scott over at SeoMoz peers into his crystal balls, and penetrates the future and sees a hard time ahead for SEO engineers. The climax is the video below (have a cigarette and enjoy it!).

Scott believes Accessibility and Content issues will remain contant – and continue your best practises for crawling, sitemaps , great content and unique content.

He foresees big changes in “social graph metrics” – for example, web 2.0 properties such as twitter, facebook, linkedin will have a bigger impact within the algorithm. In the same vein Usage Metric (query volumes, visitor tracking) will have greater impact.

Verticalization of Search – Google will not be the default search engine for some vertical markets. Consider where you migh search for airfares, city apartments, etc – probably not Google.

SEO engineers will be more data driven – analysis of data will drive SEO development of websites.

Give us your opinions please!

Guest article: For many people, a sitemap is often thought to be nonessential in the midst of making an internet site, and that’s actually true if the sole reason you make one is for the sake of it. Employing a well designed sitemap on your website is essentially awfully useful and in my opinion, critical. Especially re search engine optimisation. There are many reasons why building a sitemap for your site can be a big advantage.

Navigation

As the name suggests, the sitemap really does act as a map of your internetsite, if you build it that way. This can be helpful to visitors to your website if they are looking for something in particular that might not be manifestly available on the index page, or on the page which they entered your website on. Also, if your internet site is particularly large, many people find having an overview of how it all fits together will help them understand how to find all the things they are searching for on your site.

Overall image of the site’s ‘theme’.

As fast as your visitors to your site study the sitemap, theywill get the final concept of what your internetsite is all about awfully swiftly. This will save time, for your visitor, as they do not need to troll through plenty of pages to get an understanding of what it is you are trying to achieve.

What happens when you build a good sitemap, is that you are actually making a single page on your internetsite which links to every other page on your internet site. This makes it way easier for the search engines to explore your site and it helps to have all the pages on your website indexed ( listed ) by the search engines. Itis important for SEO, that the sitemap is able to be navigated to from your homepage, so take care there’s a link to the sitemap on the homepage of your internet site.

A well arranged site.

By creating a sitemap, it lets you have a fairly good top level view of how your internetsite is put together. That means that when you add new pages to your site, it can be reasonably easy to see the best place to put it, just by looking at your sitemap.

Building a sitemap for particularly giant sites is crucial for all the reasons I’ve discussed here. It is certainly worth making the effort.
