the color into the eyelid crease (inside your eye socket) next
use the dark shade on the outer V of you lid and blend, blend,
and blend some more!

Ever
since Eve took that first bite of the apple, the human race has
been obsessed with beauty.
The truth
is we begin the aging process just as soon as we pop out of the
womb. Every day of our lives our bodies slough off and regenerate
new cells. The speed at which that process takes place when we are
children is vastly different as we get older.
Every day
you are bombarded daily with commercial messages and beauty tips
that attempt to lure you into believing that the most recent
miracle drug is just what you need to fight off the ravages of
Mother Nature.
We are
living longer as a whole. Singularly, that can be a curse or a
blessing, depending on your perspective.
The best
route to natural beauty and healthy skin is to take care of what
you have. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? The truth is that your skin
takes a beating from the environment every single day. Here are
some of our favorite beauty tips for keeping your skin fresh and
healthy:
1: Stay
hydrated and do it with plenty of water! That does not mean soda,
caffeine or any other type of liquid, even if it is low cal. Soda
(even diet soda) has a high concentration of sodium. Sodium retains
fluids. You need fluid that will hydrate and flush your body free
of toxins. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses a
day!
2:
Protect your skin from harmful ultra violet (UV) rays. We all love
the sun. We love being in it and we love having a beautiful tan.
The truth is you can poison yourself with too much sunshine. UV
rays cause skin cancer and if that isn’t bad enough it causes your
skin to age faster than it should, contributing to unsightly
wrinkles. If you must play in the sun, make certain you are using
an adequate sun screen. Don’t leave home without it!
3: Keep
your skin clean. Use a soft warm cloth. Skin does not require
scrubbing. You will do more harm than good if you do.
4: The
best cure for wrinkles is to never have them in the first place! If
you are like most of us, you didn’t listen to your Mom when she
tried to tell you to stay in the shade, stand up straight and stop
squinting!
5: Eat
healthy. Knowing how and what to eat, can make a huge difference in
how you feel. Improper eating habits can cause depression, weight
gain, illness and an overall lethargy.
Weight
gain causes your skin to stretch. As you get older, it loses it's
elasticity and you're left with sagging skin.
The best
solution to this is to maintain a proper weight.
A rule of
thumb for eating habits are...don't eat more calories than you
consume. Don't go one single day without doing something extra and
physical for at least 30 minutes per day. This can be three ten
minute walks. Or 30 minutes of vigorous aerobics, or 12 minutes of
weight lifting and 18 minutes of walking.
6: Don't
worry, be happy. A happy outlook appears to trigger the release of
endorphins. Endorphins relax the cardiovascular system and
cytosine's which alert the immune system to pay attention in
detecting abnormalities like cancer cells. Listen carefully to
yourself. If you have put yourself down since childhood, over a
lifetime, negative subliminal messages can take their toll by
turning you into a pessimist. Spend one week writing down the
phrases you use in your “self talk.” Chances are you will find that
you repeat a dozen or so phrases over and over again that reinforce
that negative image. If you know about them, you can change them.
Outer beauty and inner joy go hand in hand.
Here are
a few quick tips for increasing joy, hope and optimism that will
work no matter what your age:
Make a
list of at least 50 great things that happen to you every
day.
Laugh a
lot. You’ll heal your body and your mind.
Discover
a new challenge each month.
Try
meditating for just five minutes each day.
7: Sex
After 50 – Ha! How many of you jumped ahead to this
section?
The
importance of physical intimacy actually depends on the couple. An
alarming number of men used to give up on sex after 60 and many
women used to feel that their sex life ended with menopause.
Thankfully, that is no longer the case.
Sex at
middle age can actually become better and more satisfying than ever
before. Maturity gives a couple more experience in lovemaking. The
children are usually grown and left home. The pressures of building
a career and day to day life are usually less stressful than in
younger years.
Is beauty
really skin deep?
The
answer is yes and no. It’s a paradox, isn’t it? True beauty
begins from the inside out. Don’t you wish there was some way to
“wriggle your nose” and regain that soft skin you had as a child?
Well, until someone comes up with the true “Fountain of Youth” we
are stuck with what we have.
Just
remember that getting older doesn't have to mean getting
old.

Kim Kardashian’s
Jewel-toned Smoky Eye
Always dreamed of eyes like Kim Kardashian, but don’t have the
time or money to “get the look”?
Here’s my tip of the day:
-
Use
Eye Shadow as Eye Liner!
A dark eyeshadow can double as eyeliner…. I swear by eyeshadow
used this way. It’s a quick way to get Kim’s smokin’ hot eyes.
You’ll need a super-flat eyeliner brush for this . Get the brush a
little damp and dab in dark eyeshadow (black, brown or deep
jewel-tones work great). Wiggle the brush into your lash line
focusing on the space between your lashes, then sweep the color
just above your lash line.

How to
get the PERFECT SMOKEY EYES IN MINUTES!
Have
you ever walked into a cosmetic store and saw the perfect
smokey eye on a makeup artist and when you ask how to
achieve it they pull 4 eyeshadows, 3 brushes, brow powder and
pencil. The everyday woman like yourself will get overwhelm and
end up buying nothing and walking out the store. Here is a quick
step by step guide to get the perfect smokey eye in minutes,
using only 4 products. Stila Smudge Stick pencil is very
creamy, easy to use on the eyes, has a very soft texture and
won't pull the eye. It's also waterproof and won't smudge. It's
one of my favorite eyeliners and I'm sure it will be yours too.
Stila Stingray Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner can be
purchased at any Sephora
store or www.sephora.com for only $20. Next you will
need a smudge brush, black eye shadow and your favorite mascara.
Those items should be in every woman's makeup bag. Try this step
by step guide at home and use this picture as a
reference.
Follow These
Steps
2. Use a
Smudge Brush to blend out and soften the edges
3. Apply
your favorite black eyeshadow around the entire eye with the same
brush.
4. Apply
mascara for a popping effect
5. Groom
the brows and you're ready to go!

At lunch the
other day, I realized we(women) spend too much time worrying about
how great our skin looks and feels. Those damn celebrities always
look flawless, and that usually means we feel the need to do the
same. If the truth must be told, they really don’t have skin that’s
any better than yours or mine, but what they do have is very
expensive make up artists and air-brusher's to make them look
amazing everyday. Many of the things we put on our faces do well
for the most part, but you have to be concerned about the chemicals
and other additives that we might be putting on our precious skin.
This explains, in part, the popularity of the Bare Minerals
cosmetics line.
The main draw
to Bare Minerals cosmetics is that they are supposed to be free of
additives and are supposed to be 100% all natural. If you have
sensitive skin, this might be just what you are looking for.
However, before you invest a lot of money in Bare Minerals
cosmetics, you still want to start with the bareMinerals Get Started Kit
to make sure they don’t cause any problems for your face.
Even natural products can irritate some of the most sensitive skin,
so give it a trial run and decide which shades work best for your
skin type. If you don’t know where to get a sample kit, try
visiting some web sites like Ulta.com or Beauty.com to get the
lowest price.
Besides being
natural, Bare Minerals cosmetics are supposed to be very good for
coverage. I have never personally tried them, but I have a friend
that swears by them. She was tired of buying product after product
only to find that none of them gave her the coverage that she
needed, and most of those cosmetics would leave her with a very
even tone all over her face. That might sound good, but in reality
our faces are defined by the cheekbones and other curves, and when
they are washed out, you look washed out too.
She says the
Bare Minerals cosmetics have allowed her to get good coverage
without covering up or hiding the natural contours of her face. She
doesn’t have the whole line yet, but she says that she will buy
more during the upcoming sale. Her testimony has almost convinced
me that I should try the Bare Minerals cosmetics line as well. I
looked them up online, and though the prices are not as low as some
of the make up items you can get in the drug store, they certainly
aren’t bad. Especially, if they work as they are supposed to, the
price would be a bargain. Click on the bareMinerals box to go to
their site and learn more. Also, ladies if you've used this
particular kit, please help a diva out and tell me how much you
love or hate it.

Do you want a cool, smokey eye with a splash of color? For out, for
fun around the house if you're a kid (be sure your mom is okay with
you using her makeup!), or for a special event, this is a nice look
sure to be classy but attention drawing!
- Place a primer on the lid of your eye all the way up to the
brow bone. You may use a foundation or concealer if you don't
have anything else.
- Now take a pale pink, or champagne color, even a shimmering
white may work, and place this all over your lid. Use a filbert
paint brush.
- Now take a plum or deep rusty purple color and place it in a
thick line in your crease and a bit past the end of your eyelid.
Use a fluffy brush. Be sure to blend if it looks too harsh. Fade
this color all the way up to the brow bone.
- Now take a shimmering or at least pearly (no matte) black
color and place this in the outer V and in the crease without
blending so it doesn't cover the rusty or plum color. Use a small
brush. If you only have a matte black eyeshadow, use it to blend
with a shimmering neutral.
- Now use a pearly or shimmering neutral or white or possibly
the champagne or pale pink you used in the beginning and apply
this right next to the brow on the brow bone. Use a small
brush.
- Now, if desired, blend all out with a fluffy brush.
- Now You're finished! Decide your venue and go turn heads!
Insider Notes
- This is a dark look, so be aware and be cautious when using
the black.
- Avoid fallout by putting a tissue underneath your eye.

I have a bit of a makeup problem. I love makeup and I
am always buying more. Luckily for me all makeup only lasts
around a year so I always have an excuse to buy more. Not
everyone knows but all high quality and even cheap makeup has a
shelf life. It will not look nearly as nice two years after you
buy it. This is not a comment on the quality but on the nature of
makeup.
I adore makeup sets and I really like the Sephora brand products so
this was a dream buy for me. All the Sephora brand products I have
bought, in fact nearly everything I’ve purchased at Sephora
has lived up to my expectations. This was no exception!
In this set you get four shades, an eye pencil and a mascara.
This is not a subtle kit so the pencil is thick. It is a
smoky eye look. I found the pencil fit well in my hand.
I have a small hand and I hate the super long ones or the
chunky

ones because it is hard to apply. I find eyeliner to
be the think that makes or breaks a set. If the eyeliner goes
on fake looking or clumps the whole look is ruined. This
eyeliner went on very smooth. I did not get clumps or have it
break when I used it. I hate when the tip of a pencil eyeliner
breaks when I am using it. If you have ever gotten a piece of
eyeliner in your eye from that like I have it makes you
nervous. I have worn my pencil down to a nub and so far I have
never had it break the tip off. My only complaint about the
pencil is it is a pencil and you do need to sharpen it, so if
you plan on buying this kit, make sure you own a sharpener
because it will get dull soon and it does not come with one in
the kit. I give this eyeliner pencil a 10 hands down!
Sephora
Beauty In A Box Brown Smoky Eyes Palette
The mascara in the kit worked well for me. I have beautiful
naturally black and long lashes so my biggest issue is keeping them
natural looking, not length. This one did look natural and did not
flake. I give the mascara a 10.
Also in the kit are four shades of shadow. I found them to glide on
easily and to look very nice on. I had no issues with applying
this. The shadows were able to stay on after nights of being in hot
clubs and bars which not all shadow can do so I give it an 10.
The brush that came with this was very nice. High quality and easy
to use. I give it a 10 for quality. It never lost bristles like
some do, and still looks very nice.
The best part of the kit for me is that it came with directions.
The directions are nice and easy to follow, but remember a smoky
eye is a lot harder to achieve than a natural eye. Don’t try
this the first time right before you want to go out. I follow the
directions exactly but I had to practice many times to get the
right look. I give them a 10 for directions but a 7 for ease, it is
pretty hard if you are not experienced to get the look quickly just
from using the directions.
I do recommend this set to others if you have some experience with
makeup application. It is tough to get the look, but the quality is
very high. The price is $36 which is high but Sephora gives you a
nice well made set with directions and you need to remember you
would normally spend $10 on a drugstore mascara plus $8 on the eye
pencil so if you remember it is not just shadow the price is worth
it.
The pros: Sephora Beauty In A Box
Smoky Eyes
Palette Collection
- high quality brush
- nice mascara
- never caused clumping
- makeup lasts all night
- comes with directions.
- high quality eye liner
The cons: Sephora Beauty In A Box Smoky Eyes
Palette Collection
-
the makeup
is set in a weird cheap plastic tray and you slide it in and
out. (Obviously, not my favorite feature)
-
very tough
to use your first time.
-
packaging
is odd and is not my favorite

There are
a few things you probably don't want to get stuck with in your
lifetime. One of them is a great deal of debt and the other is
having the I.R.S. breathing down your neck because of it. Now
thankfully most of us aren't that bad with our money, so
for us the number one is having dark circles under our eyes. No one
wants these; I don't care if you're a man or a woman! The truth is
you want to look good, whether you admit it or not. Typically women
are very vocal about dark circles under eyes. They in no way,
shape, form, or fashion want to acquire such an atrocity. Well,
thankfully there are a few things you can do to prevent this
dilemma. Nasty dark circles under eyes don't have to be your
reality. It's all about understanding how to they generate,
prevention, and eye care.

Puffiness and dark circles have been around forever. In fact, I'd
bet that the queens centuries ago complained about this same
affliction. They were probably struggling with ineffective
remedies and solutions to dark circles under eyes. We have
something they did not; it’s called science! I’m sure you already
know this is how we deal with appearance issues. First of all,
you need to understand that some of this is hereditary. Yes
indeed, you may get stuck with dark circles under eyes simply
because it's in your genes. Now, there are of course other
factors to ponder as well. Probably the best thing you can do to
prevent dark circles and puffiness is get plenty of sleep. It
turns out we all need 8 or 9 hours a night. Furthermore, a
healthy diet with plenty of water will make a huge difference.
These things are all essential when it comes to preventing dark
circles under eyes. Here’s a true beauty secret: you have to
live well to look well. I'm not saying you have to be
wealthy; you simply need to be wise. Finally, when it comes to
afflictions such as puffiness, crow's feet and dark circles under
eyes, there are so many man-made remedies and treatments. Check
out the vast array of eye creams, gels, and balms on the market
today. There is most definitely one that will fit and ultimately
better your situation. All it takes is a little sampling. Take
your pick from a plethora of cosmetic companies that offer
products for men and women.
There's
no denying the aging process, things will begin to droop, swing,
and fall-out. However, you can fight the signs of aging with the
right lifestyle and skincare regimen. I of course have my faves
and even though I'm not that old today, I understand that
prevention is the key for a better looking tomorrow. So I use

deep wrinkles: crow's feet, under eyes, around the mouth/lips,
