Today we are reviewing Universal Remote’s MX-880.

We are not going to give you a long, and drawn out review with paragraphs that we have copied from the manufacturer’s website. We are only going to give you real life, in the field experience and feedback from both our installers and clients alike.
The brief facts…
RF or IR capable
Meaning you can control your equipment both by pointing the remote control at it and from another room that does not have a “line of sight” to the equipment you are trying to control.
NOTE HOWEVER If you are trying to control it using RF (Radio Frequency) you NEED to add an RF base station.
Ease of Use..
With the proper program this remote is as simple as hitting one button to control an entire activity.
Example:
You hit the button that says “WATCH TV”

The remote properly programmed does the following
1. Turns on the TV
2. Turns on the Surround sound processor
3. Turns on the cable box and/or DirecTV receiver
4.Selects the proper input on TV
5. Selects the proper input on the Surround sound processor
6. Selects the proper sound field on the surround sound processor
7.Tunes cable box / DirecTV receiver to your favorite channel.

After this “WATCH TV ” command is sent the remote control will display you favorite channel icons on the LCD screen. There is no need to switch screens to control volume, channels, or even source selection. Making this remote control a client favorite.

Installer / Programmer review
As an installer, I like this remote for multiple reasons. First it allows me to simplify the system enough for anyone to use it without any necessary instruction. It stops the system from going “Out of Sync” meaning that if you want the system to turn on, all necessary components turn on. Not half are on and half are off; leading to aggravation and the client having to troubleshoot the entire system just to watch TV. Lastly the Universal Remote MX-880 allows me to leave room for future expansion so if a piece of equipment is changed out in the future, it’s a simple programming change that takes just minutes.
Client Feedback
All clients have liked the fact that it is easy to use. Many like the “wand” style of the remote. It only takes one hand to hold it and is light weight. The Favorite Channel icon is a hit for both parents and children alike. Just touch the icon of the channel you want to watch to and it goes there for you.

Overall, the Universal Remote MX-880 is a great buy that delivers more than expected every time.

The price of consumer electronic goods such as computers, plasmas, and LED displays will be rising in the near future due to disaster in Japan.

Check-in with your children!

The love we have for our children is like no other. We want to protect and watch over them at all costs. No matter how old they get, they will always be on our minds. The truth is, we probably feel them more when they’re away.

In this day and age, our kids can be just as busy as us. The information and access to new computer gadgets is staggering. How do you compete with technology? The answer is….Technology.
