(More customer reviews)The narrow diameter (8") allows the squirrels and large birds (such as grackles) to hang on one side and tip the birdfeeder inside the cage so that they can still reach the seed. It needs to be much wider in diameter. The 15" cage around the Droll Yankee feeder is the perfect size--I can tell you from experience that that feeder indeed foils large birds AND squirrels, but is retailing at $85. It would be the ticket to all our birdfeeding woes if it were 15" diameter. Unfortunately, no one--even Droll Yankee--offers that size in a retrofit cage. Ticks me off, as they obviously know that is the magic dimension, and us poor suckers that already invested $35 in a tube feeder think we might save money by buying a retrofit cage for $35 vs. a whole new system for $85. They also need to make the feeder stationery in the retrofit cage so that larger animals cannot use the tipping method to get their pie holes closer to the feed.

I have spent ridiculous amounts of money and time on these contraptions. No more money out of my pocket until someone comes up with a 15" diameter retrofit cage.The prices for these are crazy. The poly-coated wire mesh can be bought for pennies a foot.I hope this deters someone from buying more of this cr*p that the manufacturers seem purposefully designing not to work right.

Then dispersed the liquid w/out using the spray the next day....Raccoons and squirrels were happily playing in the area flipping me the bird.Went out and bought the dry formula... emptied the canister on the extremely small area around my bird feeder. Just checked and sure enough mr racoon is is happily feasting on bird food, amongst the critter ridder, below the bird feeder.

(More customer reviews)This is a nice feeder, but is suitable for platform use only.I was under the impression (confirmed by seller) that you could order the "matching" resin leg kit and transform into a ground level feeder.Unfortunately, the resin feeder is not pre-drilled for any leg mounting whatsoever, and the resin is too tough to simply screw on the matching legs. The screws stripped within seconds of effort.

I was also disappointed that the seller charged me full freight for each item (bird feeder and leg set) as if they were shipped independently, but then shipped both in one package at a minor (if any) incremental charge over shipping the feeder alone.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product because the gophers in my vegetable garden were chewing the life out of my plants. At one point, most of my vegetable plants barely had any leaves.

I didn't want to give up on the garden after spending time and money on it. I also did not want to harm the gophers but keep them out of my veggies. They also ate the leaves on my miniature rose bushes.

These pellets look just like dirt, the larger pieces resemble brown, earthy pellets. They contain castor oil which on the label reads that it causes no harm to vegetables or animals.They have a strong odor which gophers are believed to terribly dislike

Initially when I had used the product, I happily noticed a decrease in the amount of chewed vegetables and leaves. The gophers seemed repelled by this product and my garden seemed to flourish with growth and health.

I repeated the applications regularly with success.

Suddenly the gophers returned. Hunger is a strong force. I tied bells to the chicken wire surrounding the garden and the noise has them more cautious and less intrusive.

Because this repellent only worked for a short duration, I'm giving it 3 stars.

(More customer reviews)Before buying this lamp definitely take note of the measurements. I bought it for my nightstand and it is a little small. The first lamp I received had permanent creases in the shade and a scratch on the lamp due to poor packaging. I was able to ship it back for free and receive a new lamp that was packaged better. If I had to do things over again I would have purchased a lamp from HomeGoods instead. You can buy a nice nightstand size lamp there for $30-$40. The shade, which is where they obviously cut corners, seems a little too big in proportion to the size of the lamp. The lamp and shade are different shades of white which also looks a bit odd. I also hate the fact that the shade is held in place by the light bulb instead of having a harp and finial. As a result it is not very secure and will move around when turning the light on and off. If I had seen this lamp in person I wouldn't have paid more than $20 for it. Overall a cute lamp, if you are willing to spend more money to replace the shade.

After I set up the fence, I didn't have a single attack for a whole summer.

This year, I am setting up a garden in the back, and know from experience that raccoons will attack the corn I'm planning to grow. I think I'm going to order a new kit and use that rather than attempt to build an ugly fence or cages for my raised beds. During the day, I can turn off the system and the wires will still keep out my small dog and child.

I e-mailed the company(Droll Yankees) and they replaced these parts free of charge. I live in a very hot climate and noticed recently that the lower plastic bowl had developed a crack/leak. E-mailed the company and received a reply the very next day stating that the replacement bowl was in the mail; again free of charge.
Great company to deal with; also have the "droll yankee flipper" birdfeeder and have been equally satisfied.

(More customer reviews)Just as I was beginning to lament the loss of my late beloved cat, I've discovered that the mouse colony that has replaced her brings its own rewards--the thrill of the hunt, the competitive juices of the eternal struggle of man vs. beast, the unending search for better weaponry. If like me, you were turned off after exterminating the first couple of the little pests (glue traps are as medieval as it gets) and are in search of an effective live trap, this one works, and it's easily the cheapest. But it takes practice. Maybe I'll raise my rating when my battle skills are more refined. First impressions of the "Tip-Trap."

The Pluses: The price, the ease of taking on the enemy on multiple fronts, the enemies' inability to resist entering the little tunnel for the peanut butter reward.

The Minuses: I started conservatively, setting out three traps. Seeing they had all tipped, I opened the first and shook it over my temporary "mouse aquarium." The trap was empty--no mouse, and no bait. I did the same with the second. Same result. With the third, I shook it, didn't feel anything, so I opened it away from the provisional "mouse house." A furry speck jumped out and disappeared in an instant (darn thing actually scared me--does that make me the mouse? I do like peanut butter).

The biggest two minuses: 1. If the tube were transparent so that the trapper could determine if it contained a victim, the whole process would be much easier on both the hunter and hunted. 2. If there were more ventilation, or air holes, maybe the scared little creatures wouldn't be dripping-wet, half-dead but hysterical captives (one bit me twice--they don't carry rabies, thankfully).

So far the better bet appears to be the (admittedly overpriced) "Smart Mouse Trap," a transparent miniature greenhouse. (The Havahart trap, I've concluded, has a too steep learning curve.) The greenhouse, moreover, leaves the mouse dry and relatively comfortable, so that his fur isn't all matted down by perspiration by the time he's discovered. (Believe it or not, these little creatures have individuality--in coloration as well as behavior.)

Finally, an aquarium makes a good holding tank before transporting your colony to the country. Feed them standard rodent food, include a water bottle, use a screen top, don't keep them for more than several days. (Otherwise, some will perish and others will escape when you take off the lid.)

What do you do during winter time?Give them a break. It's cold out there and food is in short supply.(Instead of removing the mice from the kitchen, I've opted to move the penetrable food supplies--bags and boxes--to places I defy them to find.)
