In plenty and in time of need
When this fair land was young
Our brave forefathers sowed the seed
From which our pride has sprung
A pride that makes no wanton boast
Of what it has withstood
That binds our hearts from coast to coast
The pride of nationhood
We loyal sons and daughters all
Do hereby make it known
These fields and hills beyond recall
Are now our very own
We write our names on history's page
With expectations great
Strict guardians of our heritage
Firm craftsmen of our fate
The Lord has been the people's guide
For past three hundred years
With Him still on the people's side
We have no doubts or fears
Upward and onward we shall go,
Inspired, exulting, free,
And greater will our nation grow
In strength and unity

very difficult to choose. Traveling to Barbados for the first time
can be conjuring a lot of questions to one's mind if they indeed
made the right choice. Well of course you did. Every hotel in
Barbados has years of experience catering to all types of traveler.
Bear in mind that in order to stretch your budget, you can always
stay at a modest accommodation, say from 1 to 3 star hotels. Most
of these hotels are found on the South Coast while the eastern and
western coast has some of the best hotels in Barbados. 4 to 5 star
hotels comes complete with a private balcony, Italian fixtures,
imported luxurious bed sheets and all the standard refinements you
can expect.
When you intend to travel but allowed yourself a limited budget,
don't despair because you will always have a comfortable
accommodation from $125 down to $30 per night. Everything may not
be cheap in Barbados but it's worth every penny and besides, you do
not get to go to Barbados anytime you please. Travelling to
Barbados takes planning so book well in advance so that you can get
the lowest deal notwithstanding the peak season. Some practical
travellers choose from among the cheapest accommodations to
maximize vacation time in Barbados. Some would stay from a week to
a month, and sometime even longer. Besides who would want to leave
the most beautiful place you've ever seen?
Barbados is just drop dead beautiful. Situated between the
Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, it was once a British colony and
now the glorious past and splendour of the English is evident. The
remnants of the English rule are still evident, with the old
government buildings, sugarcane plantations and the mansions. Known
as little England, many of the façade is strikingly English, even
the hotels borrowed the architectural designs from its former
colonizers. Visit the museum; it is a gruesome testament of the
past and a way to know the culture of Barbados. Barbados though a
tiny island is well developed and has adapted to the modern world's
needs yet provides a romantic atmosphere that is uniquely
Barbadian. There are more than fine sand beaches, sun and beautiful
sunsets. Barbados has a unique culture and topography. You can
surf, trudge, windsurf, parasail, hire a boat and head to the
smaller cluster of islands and sip champagne on the catamaran.
Take your family when you come to Barbados and witness the
colourful and pulsating beat of the Carnival. You can choose a
hotel that welcomes families and ask if they have all inclusive
offers. Your family will have a blast. Barbados is unique,
beautiful and welcoming which is also a very romantic spot for
honeymooners. The people are warm and the hotels are divine. Plan
your trip carefully and have a really great time.

Holidays In
Barbados
By Annie Jones
Think luxury Caribbean holiday and Barbados surely springs to mind.
Up until recently, as your aircraft landed at Grantley Adams
International Airport, you could see that symbol of ultimate luxury
parked on the runway: Concorde. Today, she's hidden away in a
hangar but still a testament to the fact that British Airways felt
that Barbados was the only other place in the world - apart from
New York - which could sustain Concorde flying into the island
twice a week.
As the ultimate, premier, warm weather holiday destination for
tourists worldwide, Barbados boasts a repeat clientele of over 40
percent. Concorde may be long gone but Barbados has cemented its
status as the luxury Caribbean island and it is constantly
upgrading its amenities for its visitors. In terms of tourists, the
Brits make up around 42% (or approximately 220,000 tourists) per
year and is it any wonder that the Brits love Barbados? If you
forget the fabulous weather for a moment and put aside the azure
blue ocean and the odd tropical plant...you could be forgiven for
thinking that you were driving around Surrey or the Cotswolds, with
men in full cricket whites playing on village greens, pretty parish
churches and red telephone boxes and post boxes dotted around the
Barbados countryside. For many, this is the island's appeal: a
quaint, old-fashioned Englishness making it seem almost like a
home-from-home.
No guide to Barbados is complete without a mention of cricket. Over
the years, Barbados has supplied some of the world's top
cricketers, such as Sir Garry Sobers, Everton Weekes, Charlie
Griffith, Clyde Walcott, Mitchell Hewitt and Wes Hall to name but a
few. The island's cricketers left the island to join international
teams and in some cases to captain them. With the International
Cricket World Cup in 2007, the island is currently rebuilding its
top cricket ground, the Kensington Oval.
IS BARBADOS JUST
FOR THE JET SET?
Like anywhere in the world, if you choose to stay in the best
properties and eat in the finest restaurants, you're going to find
it pricey. However, Barbados has a huge variety of places to stay
and eat and to suit all budgets and tastes. The island has a number
of top end hotels mainly on the west coast of the island where
you'll find a 24-mile ribbon of fine, sandy beaches and the calm
Caribbean sea. The southern coast is more suitable for families
with children and offers more affordable accommodation,
restaurants, bars and clubs. The south of the island is undoubtedly
the best for nightlife.

The Barbados
Climate Is Perfect For Vacationing
By Pam Quillerin
You can have an overwhelming experience at Barbados, if you would
know which time is perfect for the Barbados vacation. Barbados is
the easternmost island in the North Atlantic Ocean. The Barbados
climate doesn't vary much from season to season like the other
islands of Caribbean. The climate condition is moderately tropical
with the dry season from December to May. The wet season at
Barbados is from June to November. The weather at Barbados stays
sunny and warm in almost all seasons. An average annual daytime
temperature stays around 24 to 29 degrees Celsius (75 to 80 degrees
Fahrenheit. However, the concurrent flow of northeast cool wind
makes the weather enchanting and gives a cozy night. Usually, the
night temperature of Barbados is moderately low in compared to
daytime.
In Barbados the sun shines almost 8 to 10 hours every day from
November to March. Even in the wet season the average sun shine
timing is 8 to 9 hours every day. Also, the rainfall stays
throughout the summer season. Usually, the rain is followed by
sunny skies, which dries off the water. Barbados Island is a
somewhat low-lying island. The island at central part has some
rolling hills with a little landmass. This landmass is two and a
half time size of Washington D.C. This many gauges of landmass keep
the Barbados climate nearly unaffected by other tropical
activities. Due to the orographic lifting, at summer the rainfall
amounts reaches 75 inches at the highest area of Barbados islands.
And, during the winter season the amount of rain could vary from 5
to 6 inches in every month.
According to the official reports, the hurricane's season stays
from 1st June to 30th November. The wet season from July to
November correlates with the hurricanes season of Atlantic. The
hurricane that arises off from the African Coast moves towards the
Caribbean. Usually, these hurricanes swing north around 100 miles
from Barbados. As, Barbados is situated at far eastern location,
this is why it always got spared from the worst impact of tropical
storms. However, Barbados climate gets affected and becomes rainy
due to the hurricane at Caribbean. The heavy rainfall at Barbados
can only be expected during the hurricane season. Tropical rain
storm stays at Barbados from June to October. Usually, the
experience of tropical rains is magnificent. Island it porous and
even the heavy rain fall drains off quickly because the water runs
into the underground lakes and seas.
On an average, the chances of a hurricane strike are about once in
every 26 years. The hurricane Janet was the most powerful hurricane
of the Atlantic hurricane which came in 1955. It was also the last
recorded time when hurricane caused severe damage to Barbados.
Also, it is believed that there is very lesser chance that Barbados
will get hit by a tropical hurricane. Overall the Barbados weather
stays normal with the mixture of sunny and rain. The most favorable
time to visit Barbados is a wet season during May. In May, most of
the Northern America gets affected due to freezing temperature.
And, at the same time the Barbados climate stays warm and
delightful.
