Taking a vacation in Manila can be an enjoyable yet inexpensive one
compared to other Asian destinations. If you want a thrilla in
Manila experience, then you should dig deeper and think more like a
local. Listed are things you can try to experience what Manila is
all about.
1. Take the King of the Road - Rustic WWII jeeps converted into
passenger automobiles called "jeepneys" are the most affordable and
entertaining form of transportation in Manila. Drivers hurl through
traffic with jerks and sudden stops. Ask a few locals which jeep to
take and then hold on for a roller coaster ride!
2. Be a Bystander in Binondo - Binondo stimulates your senses and
lets your imagination go wild. Strolling through the narrow streets
lets you observe people from all walks of life and at every period
of the day. Sample famous treats like siomai (freshly steamed
dumplings), hopia ( Chinese baked pastries filled with sweet
beans), or the aphrodisiac mystery, "soup Number 5".
3. Explore Quiapo Church and Market - Thumping hip-hop music in the
background, everything you can imagine to buy, favorite local
snacks on barbecue sticks, piles of produce and even piles of
produce, and the ever-present loitering clientele, makes Quiapo
market a mesmerizing place. On Fridays, it buzzes with people
lighting candles, fortune tellers, and vendors selling things that
seem to be junk to others yetare treasures for a few.
4. Revisit Intramuros -See the old colonial Spanish town of
Intramuros from the luxury of a horse drawn carriage or by foot.
Visit a number of exciting sites, including the Manila Cathedral,
San Agustin Church, Pueblo de Santa Lucia, and Fort Santiago.
