I have a small 15 gallon freshwater aquarium and somehow snails were introduced, I assume with the plants. They have been mating excessively and now they are taking over the tank. I don't want to use chemicals or anything that will kill the snails, but I need to keep them under control. Also, if I were to round them up and release them into the local Ohio River would the cold kill them?

As far releasing into the Ohio river. That is illegal. If they survive they will crowd out native species, and damage the river's ecosystem. If they don't live they will died a slow death. Better to kill them quickly by crushing.
