The Canada Student Loans Program will help support students who
need it financially. This would usually be provided to
post-secondary students. Firstly, the students have to apply for a
provincial or territorial loan. They will instantly qualify for the
Canadian student loan once you have applied for this. Forms can be
obtained from the offices of educational institutions or in the
provincial offices. To keep receiving or start receiving money, you
would need to renew your application each year. The students should
show evidence that they were enrolled within 6 months of the
previous study period. Doing this will ensure the student will get
interest free study loans. Educational institutions issue the
enrollment forms and information. The governments of Northwest
Territories such as Quebec and Nunavut will provide their own
financial support programs and will not take part in the Canada
student loan program. Alternative financial aid programs are
offered in Nunavut and Quebec. This is also the case with the
governments of the Northwest Territories. For this reason, these
areas do not participate in the other student loan program.
Information that is more detailed is available from the Student
Loans Service Center. Should students default in the repayment of
loans, the Canada Revenue Agency is responsible for collection of
payment. To qualify for this one needs to be a student that is
dependant financially on someone and single. He or she needs to be
dependant on parents, a supportive relative, a guardian or a
sponsor. Students that have been out of school for forty-eight
months or have been working for two years, these could also have no
support in terms of sponsor, guardian, parents or relative. It
could be that he or she is a parent, married or single. Independent
students are also ones living in a common law relationship for
longer than twelve months. When you have legal custody over a
minor, you would be classed as a single parent. It does not matter
if you were ever married or not. In order for your application to
succeed for this loan, the student needs to be a citizen of Canada,
a permanent resident or a protected person . Only citizens of
Canada qualify for these loans. They can also be a protected person
or have permanent residence status. It is imperative the student
lives in the area in which he or she lives. There also needs to be
proof that money is needed in order to study. He or she must be
enrolled in a diploma, degree or certificate program. The program
should be no less than three months long. Students that are
twenty-two and older and who are first time applicant will have
credit check performed on them. Receiving a loan requires that
certain minimum grades are maintained. Financial aid cannot be
granted for periods exceeding three hundred and forty weeks. This
is for full time study. The Canada Student Loans Program may have a
few exceptions when it comes to this particular point. Do you want
