There are so many hotels in Barcelona that if you are to choose one, it takes ages for you to decide which one is the best for you. You can choose from the most luxurious ones up to the cheapest rooms at the hostels. The most known hotels, however, are those which by the mean of being so recognizable in their visual form, contribute to city´s architecture. Let us take W Hotel located on the shore. The first thing that you see when you are already on the plane is that avant-garde hotel. The same happens with Hotel Barceló Raval with its modern shape it catches your attention immediately, Hotel Arts Barcelona which looks like a New York skyscraper or contemporary designs like Hotel Me and Hotel Princess.
But is it necessary for a hotel to be over 50-floor-high to be the best one? Obviously not. There are so many minute hotels in Barcelona. Sometimes you pass by and you do not even realize that this building is a hotel. This is the case, for example, of a cosy little Bed&Breakfast called Boutique Barcelona hidden in an old tenement house from 1894. The building is inhabited by Barcelonians, but one floor is adapted to receive the tourists like You. What distinguishes this place from the other hotels in Barcelona? This is the unique atmosphere that you cannot expect in grand hotels in Barcelona. When you are alone, in a new city the anonymity of big hotels does not help you to feel comfortable. What does facilitate your anxiety in a new place is a familiar atmosphere where you know all the staff, where the staff knows you by your name and whre you can obtain a personal attention in every matter.
There’s nothing more sweet and amazing than find accommodation in
Barcelona next to the one of the most famous market place in
whole Europe. Possibility to buy a fresh and quality products in
a walk distance from the hotel will make unforgettable your days
in Barcelona. Traditional market offering everything you need to
cook each meal.
Urban Bazaar is also known under two names, Mercat de Sant Josep
or Mercat de la Boqueria. The history of urban markets in
Barcelona dates back 1217 years, when the bazaar was used as a
meat market. Since 1470 years the market grew in importance as a
place for trade in pigs throughout Catalonia, then named the
Mercat Bornet markets. In 1794, as amended by the name of the
bazaar, the Mercat de la Pall, he was the auxiliary bazaar, not
officially registered, whose job was to make the traffic on the
main bazaar of the city Plaça Nova. In the early nineteenth
century, when the La Rambla began to form massive slaughterhouses
and fish shops, had substantially increased turnover of goods at
La Boqueria. The situation has caused the destruction of the
existing building and build a new bazaar. Construction work
lasted from 1840 to 1853, the design of the building changed
several times. In 1911 he built and opened a new market hall for
the sale of fish, and in 1914 La Boqueria covered with metal and
glass roof.
Today, this bazaar is one of the largest shopping destinations in
Barcelona, and one of the attractions. You can’t forget about
this special place on your list of the important things to see in
Barcelona. Around the market place you can find many of the most
beautiful hotels in Barcelona and is just the best area to get
accommodation in Barcelona. Is the historic neighborhood with a
really special atmosphere.
No matter where you go, it’s important with whom you go. Take this into account when you plan your holidays in Barcelona. The main thing is to establish the rules before a trip. Only well-chosen company will guarantee you a truly relaxed holiday. Barcelona itself guarantees you a pleasant holiday, now it is up to you whether you will have fun here or not.
Every year the same thing: the place to go is already chosen, the plans are made and now the crucial decision must be chosen with whom to go on holiday. With friends? With your mom? Or maybe this year alone? The hardest thing is probably to go alone. Not only do you need to carry a suitcase and stay conscious not to miss the transfers from an airplane to a train, but also you’re forced to escape from the importunate candidates for summer love. I cannot really imagine a holiday with your mum. The conflicts erupt again and one of you will have to finish the holiday earlier. Similar dangers wait for the couples who go together for holiday. Although they spend together every minute of their holiday, in the end they think it has not been what they expected. It seems that the safest option is to go with a your closest friends – you know each other, so nothing bad will surprise you, and you have the chance to multi-day event, so many times you could not meet because you did not have time to do it. Now you can go together to Barcelona and enjoy your company there.
A good hotel does not need five stars, golden cutlery and gold-plated taps in the bathrooms. It definitely needs to offer access to the Internet. Preferably for free.
In many cases, the decisive criterion for the selection of hotels is free and unlimited Internet access. Other conditions are not that important.
The Internet is today a medium without which most of us could not
do without. Why is it in any way unpleasant, but there is nothing
to hide the truth-we cannot in the vast majority of cases do
without the Internet. We feel without it as without hands.
Internet slowly, over the years has managed to dispatch to our
consciousness. In the beginning it was not that common, which
meant that you could survive without it. But then consequently it
conquered our homes and minds. We check emails, read news from
the world (the political, cultural, sport and social events), we
play online with other people, make payments and bank
transferences, talk with friends from abroad through various
communicators, and some of us even work through Internet. This
whole long list, which after all could have multiplied almost
indefinitely, perhaps most clearly shows how important for us the
Internet is.
A few years ago – you might be surprised by it. Today the office
is where exactly the employee is with his cell phone and
notebook. From anywhere in the world, if there is Internet
access, you can download the mail, prepare the offer, report, or
make – usually very cheap – a voice or video call with family or
friends.
Here in Barcelona there are a lot of traditions for Christmas time. They might be a little bit different of what we are used to, but different is not bad, is just DIFFERENT.
In most of the world we have the traditional Santa Claus. You know, the fat man with the bear that brings the good kids presents. He arrives December 24 at midnight and leaves our presents under the Christmas tree, and afterwards eats the cookies and milk we leave him. Some countries think Santa Claus comes from the North Pole, others from Madrid. Basically the story is more or less the same.
Here in Catalonia the story is more different. They have what is called “Caga Tío”. It is a piece of wood that people dress up in Christmas clothing and the night of Christmas they hit it with a wood stick and sing a traditional song asking for presents. The “Caga Tío” literally pops the presents for the kids. For those that have behaved, he gives candy, toys or nice things, and for those that have been bad get Charcoal.
Also the traditional dinner on Christmas Eve, you know, the one with the big turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, etc, it’s not so traditional in Catalonia. It’s more a tradition acquired because of the big immigration that Catalonia has received from the rest of Spain.
San Esteban´s day, is one of the most important meals of Christmas time in Catalonia, is the day of the big meal. Traditional people eat the traditional Canelones made of the leftover of the Christmas night meal. The Canelones have become one of the Christmas symbols for Catalonia. It is celebrated on December 26.
Catalonia is full of traditions, we invite you to explore then and enjoy them.
Holiday is a time of joy, the winter holidays, when we’re ready to drag and spend holidays in a resort in the country or abroad.
Therefore, your concern about foreigners during the journey is dangerous as it may be natural and is very natural to want to protect your own person, and assets that you took with you on a trip.
Nobody wants to ruin their vacation because of acts of theft, money or other property left in the hotel room …
Here are some tips that can prevent such troubles:
To protect your own person:
Hotel room door must be closed permanently. When you back in the room, from your walking during the day, do not forget to close the door lock with key or a chain and use it with confidence for your safety. Better to be precautious from the beginning than to be sorry later …
When you leave your hotel room, close the door behind you and close it completely. Make sure you’ve done this. Before leaving the front door, try it, to make sure that you have not twisted the key for nothing.
Do not open the door to strangers! Use the viewfinder to see who is in front of your door. If you have not used the services of hotel staff, it is not wise to trust people who claim to be part of the hotel and staff and who present themselves at the door of your room to solve various problems.
If you are unsure, call reception to check the identity of the person who rang at the door. If you are informed that everything is okay, open the door, but do not let the chain of safety added for your protection.
Check all doors and windows in the room every time you enter and leave the room and make sure they are tightly closed and locked. This tip is especially useful if the “live” during your stay on the ground or some lower floors of the hotel.
Have a great time in Barcelona!
