Pure Noni Juice - Just How Pure Is It?

If you see a product labeled as pure noni juice, what this means is that this juice should be only noni juice and not a blend of noni and other fruit juices. In addition, a pure noni juice product should be free of any additives and certainly no added flavors, sweeteners or preservatives should be used.

Some may insist that pure noni juice be
unpasteurized as well, though any pure noni juice product you see on the US market is likely to be pasteurized for safety reasons. Generally speaking, however, any product marketed as pure noni juice has been produced from noni which are organically grown and naturally aged and fermented for between three and six months. This process produces a concentrated noni juice which contains all of the nutritional value of the noni fruit.

However there can be significant differences in the overall quality of pure noni juice products. One of the main reasons for this is that much depends on the ripeness of the fruit when it was picked. Noni that is harvested prematurely will not ferment adequately and it's nutrient levels will be lower than noni picked when it is fully mature.

It's important to know this since some pure noni juice manufacturers may harvest the fruit too early resulting in a sub-standard product. Remember the aging process for noni can be as long as 3 to 6 months and basically the longer it is allowed to ferment the more concentrated the final product will be.

One other thing that
consumers need to be aware of is that not all products labeled as pure noni juice are in fact what they claim to be. These products may have only noni pulp or even just a noni extract which has been mixed with other types of juice; it may look like pure noni juice, but these products are anything but.

So in order to be certain that you are buying the purest product available be sure to read the label very carefully. Check to see whether it contains only noni juice and as such is not blended with other fruit juices.

Also, another indication of quality is to check and see where the juice you are purchasing originated. The best places are the Hawaiian islands of Maui, Molokai, Kauai and Oahu as well as the Marquesas Islands and also Tahiti. This is because the best quality noni grows in the silica rich volcanic soils which abound in these locations. For health and safety reasons too, you want to make sure that the pure noni juice you buy has been pasteurized.

The FDA is not responsible for
ensuring that these products are actually as pure as their manufacturers claim, so in this case consumers are on their own to evaluate this. If you're interested in doing so, it is possible to make sure that you're getting authentic pure noni juice by buying noni fruit and fermenting it yourself. It's easy enough to do - just leave the fruit in a bowl at room temperature. As the noni ferments, juice will leak out, which you can then collect. If at all possible, choose organically grown fruit if you plan to make your own pure noni juice.

Ultimately, it's up to you to make sure that you're buying juice which is really pure noni juice and not something which contains just a miniscule amount of noni. Read labels and purchase only pure noni juice products - only these will give you the full array of health benefits which this juice provides.
