Nicole sighed heavily as she had to sit with her so-called friends. The only person she truly enjoyed in hanging out with was Grace McIntyre. They had been friends since the third grade. They were practically jointed. Her other “friends” such as Le Meijin, Wendy Qin, Jesse Cole, and Alex Richardson were only associated with her because they were Grace’s friends. They were the reason she was being held back from being successful. Anyone else would have noticed her if it hadn’t been for her friends. Especially Le and Wendy. The two sniveling girls who wouldn’t stop talking. They were nice and all, but she was tired of being stuck in their circle. She wanted to be someone. Someone who got noticed.
She blew out another sigh, white puffs of breath exiting out of her mouth. It was a good thing she was being noticed by Carter Atkins. The most popular guy in the freshman class. It was about time being that she had was associated with his other friends. Semi-popular people like Lettie Eliopoulos were the only hope for her. As soon as she found out that the annoying girl from English class was friends with people like Holly Drake, she immediately started talking to her. Soon Lettie didn’t seem like such a loser.
Her other friends such as Erica Nasso, Jennifer Douglas, and Kimmie Tankersly understood her. They knew how much she wanted to be popular. They wanted to be in the in crowd as well. But for some reason the popular girls such as Holly, Elisha Carpenter, and Reese McKinley kept shunning them. Erica had tried her hardest to get them invited to their parties, but they rejected the invites each time.
Nicole didn’t think any of that was fair. She had everything she needed to be popular. She had the looks, the attitude, and the posture. But why wasn’t she popular? People like Palma Voorhees, Danielle Klasky, and Savannah Ripley got to be popular and they were the most weakest people in the group. Palma may have been deceased, but she always knew that Palma wasn’t fit for the group. Especially Savannah in which Carter used to go out with. She was elated when she found out they had broken up. Now she was the one who had a chance with him. Savannah was gorgeous and all, but she had the social skills of an Autistic outcast. She was just too shy. Erica didn’t like her because she thought she was too perfect and fake. Nicole had to agree on that one. No one was that sweet and kind. Especially a girl who was popular.
And Danielle wasn’t even pretty. She was cute, but her zits made her look like a hot-mess. Nicole didn’t see why people like Danielle got to be popular. They were like people who just became rich. They call those people “new money”. And Danielle, Palma, and Savannah were “new popular”. But then she realized she shouldn’t be talking about Palma. She was dead. She immediately felt guilty and erased the thought from her head.
“Are you and Carter going out?” Le asked curiously, fixing her glasses.
“Yeah,” she said aloofly, staring into space.
“When is he picking you up?” asked Grace.
“In about a couple of minutes. He should be there any minute.”
As if on cue a car pulled up in front of the driveway. She could clearly make out Carter’s older brother Chris in the driver’s seat. There were also other people in the car. Her eyes grew wide when she saw that Holly was in the back seat. Holly was unbelievably gorgeous. In a sophisticated, classy way. She was very articulate and mature for her age. She was the epitome of beautiful. And sitting next to Holly was Andy Simms. She nearly doubled over when she got a glimpse of him. Finally she was going to hang out with her old friend. He hadn’t talked to her in forever. The party last night was a little bit crazy. She had ended up sitting in his lap and flirting with him. This was a huge jackpot for her.
“Good luck!” Le called out as Nicole walked away from them.
She purposely ignored them. She walked over to the white van and waited for Andy to slide the door open.
“Hey,” he greeted, smiling as he let her in the car.
“Hey, what’s up?” she smiled, settling between Carter and him.
“Good,” he nodded, but looking a little bit lost. “How was the movies with Carter?”
“It was great!” she enthused, winking at Carter. “I got the pants scared off of me.”
Carter put his hand on her hair. His touch was everything she had imagined. It felt good being in the presence of the hottest boy in the school.
“We’re hanging out at Andy’s.” he announced, stroking her silky hair. “Is that okay?”
Of course that was okay. She had never been over to his house. She had heard it was beautiful and huge. She always wanted to go over a rich person’s house. Even though she was well-off herself, she didn’t get to experience the luxury like Andy

I’ve been friends with this girl ever since early freshman year, it’s almost the end of sophomore year for us now. I’ve been noticing that lately she’s been saying rather mean-spirited things to me.
“You walk like a retarded dinosaur.” -this was at Prom about a week ago, it was my first time in heels.
“You look weird without glasses” -when I was talking about getting contacts.
“I think you should get this” she was helping me pick out make-up. She lead me away from the brand that I like and went over to 1.a company that tests on animals. 2. it was a company she didn’t even know anything about. she was even hinting at the fact that she wanted what I was planning on getting, and then went to ask her dad for more money.
“But you would be SO stressed” -i was talking about getting into cheer again and trying out for color guard.
“I don’t think you could pull that off…” -i was showing her a pic of the style of bangs I want.
“but I heard they stick out awkwardly in hair” I was talking about buying some bumpits for prom.
she keeps showing me these pictures and saying “this would look so cute on you!” when I told her I’m not cutting my hair that short.
“I need to go with you shopping for back-to-school and make-up at the mall because I actually know what to get”- she emphasized the “I”
“you should use revlon, conair sucks…” -she held up my hair she had just been messing with and pointed out my split ends….(I haven’t had it cut in two years, of course there’s split ends!)
“you should let me do your hair and make-up…” after yanking at my hair, knotting it up, and criticizing me on how I do my hair (again)
“You would look weird tan”
“Well, if you had a voice” after I said I wanted to be a cheerleader again

I’m sorry this is so long, but I need to figure this out before I transfer to my new school next year…
Ok, she slightly overweight, I’m underweight. We both wear glasses. Her grades are really bad, I believe I have 2 B’s and the rest are A’s. When I do my hair and make-up people notice me more than her. When she does her hair and make-up people look at her funny. Her Dad wouldn’t let her get heels like mine. She’s not athletic at all, while I am slightly. Her hair is super short, she can’t style it, and people at school say it looks greasy. She’s super pale, while I’m slightly tanned.
My questions are:
Does it seem that she’s jealous of me?
What can I do to confront her and make her stop without making her cry?

And don’t say “8 glasses”! A glass can be small or medium sized or huge. So in ounces or liters or whatever, how much should I drank.
I buy these Dasani waters that are 16.9 fl oz each…today I’ve drank 3 of those…is that enough? I tend to drank 2 a day which I know is probably not enough water a day.

Question by MB: How to protect the surface of kid’s study table ?
We bought a wood(birch) table and hutch for my 8 yr old a few months back. It is already covered with some marks and scratches.
I thought of getting a “glass” top the size of the table, like they have in some restaurants. That would also allow her to place some pictures/art work under it.

Contact paper was another idea, but, it’s glue might cause gather to settle.

Any other options ?

I’d say you’re on the mark with glass, nicely beveled on the edges, it’ll protect the wood nicely, and help keep it safe for years to come.

I just bought microfiber clothes for cleaning. One is for “counters and stainless steel” the other is for “glass”. Can I use windex and or lysol on/with either? I know you probably don’t “have to”, but would that be okay? please let me know how you use the cloths.

The problem with using cleaners with those is that the residues from the cleaners build up in the cloths and they start leaving streaks. Yes, you can use cleaners with them, it won’t harm the cloths but you’re gonna get into a streaking issue if you try to clean something shiny with it next.

However, there are times when using some type of cleaner is the right idea. I buy my microfiber cloths at Sam’s Club where a bundle of 24 is less than $ 10. If I clean with one of them with a cleaner, I take it to the laundry to be washed. We use them for about everything because they just plain do a better job. I wash dishes with them, wipe up the kitchen, clean just about anything, dust with them dry. Heck, they’ll even pull pet hair off if you rub them lightly over the area. I just stockpile the used cloths until I have enough for a small load and wash them (no fabric softener) and they’re good to go again.
