This years 2011 Academy Award
nominations have been announced. The Oscars are
the pinnacle of an actors career, an accolade which they all strive
to achieve. Stars of stage and
screen will gather a month earlier than usual on
Sunday February 27th, to celebrate the greatest
movies of the past 12 months.
So far 5
movie and television legends have
been lined-up to present the celebration of the
movie greats of 2010/2011. Halle Berry, Jeff
Bridges, Sandra Bullock, Marisa Tomei and Oprah Winfrey are
the first five names set to present at the 83rd Academy
Awards.
The 10 films that
will be vying for best motion picture at the 83rd
Academy Awards are “Black Swan,” “The Fighter,” “Inception,” “The
Kids Are All Right,” “The King’s Speech,” “127 Hours,” “The Social
Network,” “Toy Story 3,” “True Grit” and “Winter’s Bone,”
the Academy of
Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Tuesday morning.
The nominees for best director
are Darren
Aronofsky (for “Black
Swan”), David O.
Russell (“The Fighter”), Tom
Hooper (“The King’s Speech”), David
Fincher (“The Social
Network”) and Joel and Ethan
Coen (“True
Grit”).

the pack with 12 nominations total, including Colin Firth
(nominated for best actor), Helena Bonham Carter (best supporting

After the death of his father King
George V (Michael Gambon) and the scandalous abdication of King
Edward VIII (Guy Pearce), Bertie (Colin Firth) who has suffered
from a debilitating speech impediment all his life, is suddenly
crowned King George VI of England. With his country on the brink of
war and in desperate need of a leader, his wife, Elizabeth (Helena
Bonham Carter), the future Queen Mother, arranges for her husband
to see an eccentric speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush).
After a rough start, the two delve into an unorthodox course of
treatment and eventually form an unbreakable bond. With the support
of Logue, his family, his government and Winston Churchill (Timothy
Spall), the King will overcome his stammer and deliver a
radio-address that inspires his people and unites them in
battle.

voice.
