ago but their appeal never seems to fade. For racing enthusiasts,
owning a
Daytona cobra would definitely be a dream come
true! If you have recently discovered your love for racing cars and
these vintage car models, then you have a lot to learn. Tracing the
history of these racing legends will be important for people who
want to collect vintage cars or join vintage car races in the
future. Are you ready for a quick history lesson? Then buckle
up!
How it all began…
Have you heard of Peter Brock? If you are familiar with racing
history then I'm sure this name will be ringing a bell. The ac
cobra is actually the second version of the 289 cobra Daytona
coupe. It's known today as the
Daytona super coupe, or simply the super coupe.
The first coupe was actually finished in March 16, 1965. Hence,
some race car fans refer to it as a 1965 coupe so as not to confuse
it with other models. After undergoing several mishaps in its
construction the final version is considered as one of the most
powerful racing cars ever built. At the same time, this legendary
car is one of the first race cars built to be used on the ride even
when you are not into racing. So you know that there were only 6
original ac cobra cars built during the 1960's? That's how rare it
is!
Why it's legendary…
There are many reasons why many people would love to have their
very own ac cobra. This legend is famous for the many victories it
has won on the race track. For instance, during the 1964 and 1965
World Championships, the coupe brought home the gold even when it
battled against the
Ferrari GTO! Imagine that! If you are familiar
with Bonneville races, then you will be amazed to know that this
model bested other racing cars in its entire career with records
that total up to 23 all in endurance and car speed.
Upon his retirement from the field of racing, Carroll Shelby sough
the assistance of Ford to make the fastest race car in the world.
The result of all his hard work would end up being known as the
cobra. And with Peter Brock they later came up with the Shelby
Super coupe, a car that in turn wowed crowds of people in races
like the LeMans. This British car was a breakthrough combination of
fine lightweight parts and a powerful Ford engine.
