(More customer reviews)I recently purchased this carpet cleaner, got a great deal and only paid $105 for it. I was initially confused because it is called "Lite" on this site but nowhere on the box or papers is the unit called "Lite". I compared the weight of this machine to the regular Hoover SteamVac and they were exactly the same. I liked the design of this one better so I purchased it.
I used it to clean several rooms of carpet so far that have not been cleaned (other than regular vacuuming) in 5 years. I thought it did a great job. Before we purchased this unit, we rented a Rug Doctor to do one of our rooms upstairs. This Hoover unit got the carpets just as clean as the Rug Doctor did. The water output looked pretty much the same level of dirtiness with both machines. The biggest difference was the carpet was left wetter with the Hoover. That was easily handled by setting up a few fans and within 4-6 hours the carpet was dry to the touch and was completely dry all the way down by 8-10 hours.
The Hoover was SO easy to use I almost couldn't believe it. The unit was ready to use right out of the box, all you had to do was fill the water tank. I loved that the motion was basically the same as vacuuming and it was no harder to move this machine then a regular upright vacuum. I used the water spray for the first pass and then usually made 2 more passes with just suction. I was able to finish my rooms very quickly. Based on the look of the water returned after cleaning, the Hoover did a great job of extracting the dirt from the carpets. To me that's the most important thing.
In doing my research to purchase a carpet cleaner, I found that there is no perfect product. The ones that get the carpet drier are usually large and bulky to use. The lighter-weight ones like the Hoover do a great job with the cleaning but don't extract as much of the water leaving the carpet wetter. I feel that for the price, you can't beat this Hoover. It's so easy to use in every way, from set-up to cleaning to clean-up, that having to set up a few fans to help the carpet dry faster is well worth it. For the price and the ease of using the machine, this is one of the best out there.

Unable to find a way to get the "free" mop covers for the unit online, I bumped into this item and found that it seemed much more versatile, for less than what the Shark is selling for. The unit can be used to clean just about anything, while the Shark mop is strictly a floor mop. I had missed the Scunci Steamer I had, which conked out after just about a year of very light use. Very dissappointing. When it worked, it did a great job, but it was not a floor cleaner. This SF-290 is better than both the Shark and the Scunci, for my purposes, because it does everything. I have a one bedroom apartment, and it cleans everything in it just fine. My kitchen floor has never been cleaner, and there is no sticky residue or chemical smell; just clean and fresh. I can freshen the carpeting, and it even removed some stubborn stains that I could not get out, no matter how much scrubbing I'd done. I freshen the furniture as well, which is great to combat my allergies. I don't know if a unit this small would work in a large house, but for a smaller area, it works great! A tip is to turn the mop cover inside out and use it on the other side before washing it. You can also remove it, rinse it out and continue using it for a time. I ordered additional Bissell mop covers, since I figured one would not be enough.

I keep a clean house and I take care of things; and this should not have happened. The detergent hose broke and soaked my entire floor. The suction does not adequately remove the water from your carpeting. Basically, all you are doing with this machine is putting wet soap on your carpet. The carpet areas I have used it on have become matted; and I have expensive carpeting. Had I known it would cost $36 to fix it, I would have had the repair center KEEP IT! Please learn from my review. If you want to spend $100, don't spend it on this machine!

It has decent suction action but doesn't even remove half of the liquid I dispensed to clean the rug. I'm happy with it. Just don't walk on the wet areas.

(More customer reviews)Wow...did a pro just clean my carpet......On Saturday I cleaned my carpet not including the stairs because I'm missing a part of my Bissell steamer...I'll get the stairs later. The carpet was very dirty and a lot of dirt came up and overall looked pretty good for a standard home steamer. BTY it took H O U R S for the carpet to finally dry with a number of fans blowing in the room. But I still need to clean the stairs...mmmmm.
I saw an ad for $75.00 off of the Rug Doctor Mighty Pro Carpet Cleaner with attachment for cleaning stairs, after reading all the reviews it sounded like a good machine...I told myself....we will see...
So I designed to bit the bullet and pick one up at the local store, with the idea that if it didn't work well for me I could return it to the store.
Well on Sunday I re-cleaned the same carpet that I just cleaned the day before (with the Bissell) with the Rug Doctor Might Pro and............OMG......are you kidding me the dirt was un-believable that the Rug Doctor got out of my "CLEAN" carpet.
With a dog and family coming in and out all day our light color carpet get dirty fast, normally I just call a pro to come over and clean, man I'm sick of paying hundreds of dollars for the pro's to come in and clean the carpet and stairs...well through days are "O V E R" never again will I pay a pro to clean my carpet, this Rug Doctor Mighty Pro machine works great, easy to use and the set up...five minutes from box to cleaning...it's a no brainier...I'm impressed with this machine and it takes a lot to impress me.
I don't write many reviews but, I just needed to tell everyone about my experience with the rug doctor pro.

Others have said it's hard to know when the cleaning solution is gone...it's all in the sound, the machine will make a different sound to let you know when you need to add more cleaning solution, which goes in the bottom of the machine, the dirty tank sits on top and is easy to empty. I found myself filling the solution tank twice before I needed to empty the dirty tank.
This machine also came with a long hose and cleaning head attachment (Upholstery Kit) for cleaning stairs and tight spaces and car upholstery. The changeover was easy to do and the hose is long enough (12ft) to do ½ the stairs from the top and the other ½ from the bottom with room to spear, but I have to be honest with you...cleaning the stairs isn't easy, that's why the pro's charge per step...just do one at a time and soon they will be done. Drying time was cut in half with this machine which was very impressive, only took about 4-hours with fans blowing in the room for the carpet to dry completely. The Bissell and Hoover machines are no match to this machine.
Monday morning the carpet looks great my wife said it looks better than it did when the professional came in and cleaned the carpet...This Rug Doctor just paid for itself with the very first use...I will not be taking this back....
I now have a used Bissell cleaning machine for sale...cheap.....lol..:-)
Pros: Don't waste your money on the cheap brands, spend a little more on this machine, you'll be glad you did.
Cons: Little heavy but that's could be a good thing, more pressure on the carpet and a little loud.
Update: Transported to my mom's house with ease, cleaned her carpet and again better than a pro.
I would highly recommended this machine, cost a little more but worth every penny. Do your our research and read more review and you will agree that this machine out performs the other brands, hands down...good day!

(More customer reviews)I bought this machine because my basement had flooded and my carpet was soaked with fifty gallons of water. First, I rented a Rug Doctor to take care of the problem, but at $30 a day and an ongoing leak, it was too expensive. So I bought this machine the following day, and I am so glad I did.
It extracted MUCH more water from the carpet than the Rug Doctor did. The suction power is wonderful. I suspect that the previous reviewer simply needed to re-adjust the plastic cover on the top of the machine, and s/he would have had much better luck.
In addition to the powerful suction, this carpet shampooer has many other pros. The machine folds up and stores easily. The carrying handle is convenient - particularly when carting it up and down stairs. The shampoo dispenser is seperate from the clean water tank. (I don't like to store the machine with water in the tank, and with other cleaners, I have had to pour out the expensive shampoo with the clean water. That's not the case here.) Also, this is convenient because you can go over an area with ONLY clean water - no shampoo at all. The tanks are VERY easy to remove and replace. There is no struggling with them at all. The tanks are easy to empty and fill as well. The handle is WONDERFUL. No more pushing and pulling with one hand! This works more like a lawn mower - you can use two hands at a more comfortable height. The design is very simple and easy to clean before storing. The front "hood" comes off after moving two simple clips, and it can be rinsed in the sink. The brushes can be turned off for times when you only want to use suction. The hand attachment is convenient for usage on stairs and furniture. It is also simple to engage and disengage.
I have absolutely no complaints about the machine itself. It is excellent in every respect, far out-performing any other machine I have ever used for extraction or shampooing.
The shampoo that comes with the cleaner is wonderful, too. Nearly every carpet shampoo I have tried has given me a headache. This one does not. It does a terrific job getting stains out of carpet. My only complaint is that it is hard to find! I have resorted to ordering it directly from Eureka because I haven't found it at any stores here in town.
All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this extractor.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item against my better judgement (Shark's terrible performance reputation) because I needed a relatively portable steam cleaner for small jobs and was hoping this Shark might be user friendly (for a change). Disappointed again! The unit is portable, but the steam cleaning ability is minimal. In addition the user parts (steam release switch trigger, nozzle) are both plastic. Also this steam bottle must be filled from the bottom and has a flimsy rubber flat press on sealer cap which is akward to reseal after filling. The biggest negative of this unit is its erratic/inferior steaming performance. The manual claims it is a 1500 watt unit, but the steam emitted simply does not loosen everyday dirt/stains sufficiently for their removal using a cleaning cloth/towel and lots of "elbow grease". I used this Shark steam bottle both in the kitchen and the bathroom with disappointing results. The only good feature is a blue indicator light on the top which purportedly informs the user when steam "operating" temperature has been reached. However the light quickly changes to red (needs to reheat) when the plastic trigger is "pumped" a few times. In addition the steam continues to come out after the trigger is released. The steamer came in a blue bag with some worthless accessories and several "micro bead"(?) cleaning cloths. Buyer beware - another shark to avoid.

(More customer reviews)I own a three year old Eureka Enviro Steamer that has gotten pretty worn and leaks water readily now, so I bought a big Euro-pro Steamer that I thought was way too loud for little jobs and just tried this Mini Steam Zapper today and give it two stars max.
The Zapper weighs more than 5 pounds which feels rather heavy for its size when full of water, but the water capacity is less than 10 ounces or 300 ml. That amount of water lasted less than 30 minutes and the Zapper did not even finish cleaning two small round bathroom sinks.
It is cute but ineffective, heavy, and just as noisy as the big steamer. Get the big steamer - it's replacing my old Enviro-steamer on the floors and does the little jobs better than this mini steamer. This mini steamer is not worth the price.

Although, I never used it before, I tried it, and was surprised that the blue chemical w/hot water turned into a dark brown/black ish water color. I didnt know how dirty and filthy my living room, and master bedroom carpet was. I decided to carpet clean every 6 months although moving the furniture was so hard and tiredsome, lol. I bought a Bissell carpet cleaning machine that came with Bissell carpet shampoo and floor care cleaning samples. Cleaning is one thing but I am into disinfecting, and reducing allergens as much as possible especially when one has children and/or pets, and very importantly your children were born with ashmatic symptoms. I have to clean, wash, dust, disinfect, detail as much as possible inside my home more than an average little clean daily or weekly. After using this product, I have now become more aware than regularly daily light cleaning. I also bought more products that has helped reduce dust, and allergens such as Sharper Image Quadra, Allergy Mattress Covers, filters for ceiling fan blades, and changing filters for vacuums, etc. Everyone should try to make your home as healthy as possible similiar to the hospital atmosphere, lol. I recommend this product to be a 4-5 star product. Now, I have to buy some more, and yes it is worth the price to me. I hope you like this product as much as I do.

I was planning to get one of those roombas hoping to save me on the frequency of the chore but hearing reports that they break down didn't seem to make my problems any easier. My husband saw a swivel sweeper on TV but I feared it might be another "made in china" electronic susceptible to breakdowns. Remembering those little carpet sweepers from school days I thought this might be a good idea to keep up with the animals. It's a simple minute to assemble, and a few sweeps over floor or carpet and you can see the floor...no crumbs, no fluff, just carpeting. I was really surprised when I went to empty out the canister, another simple task, to find that there was more pet hair, feathers and other crumbs, kibbles and dust than I could see on the carpet! I can't even imagine how this could break which also gives a some piece of mind to know it's there when you need it. The bottom line: it's fast, effective, lightweight, easy to maintain and easy to store. No it won't replace your vacuum or get deep into the corners but it's a real help in keeping things neat, and a welcomed time saver. It has paid for itself in saving vacuum cleaner bags and electricity in no time, but I am especially glad for it having spared my back. A great gadget for households with pets and toddlers, and one I would highly recommend.

It sucks up dust and dog hair okay, but leaves the room in a terrible dusty smell (i.e. you cannot vacuum without having the windows open for a day--not practical in winter or summer). It smells like it shoots out as much dust as it sucks in. We have only had this machine for 6-7 months--it was smelling bad almost after 1 month--even with trying to clean it out between uses. I am not happy with this purchase.

(More customer reviews)We ordered this to vacuum 3 offices. In absolutely no time at all you have to take it all apart and blow the dust out of the Hepa filter. To vacuum the 3 rooms I have to clean out the filter 6-8 times. If you try to continue vacuuming, it will start spewing dust. Not to mention that it's not going to clean properly until you empty it and blow out the filter.
OK, blowing out the filter is a whole other nasty mess. We are in north central Texas and it is Spring...meaning the wind almost constantly blows. Try blowing this nasty thing out with the air compressor attachement (that most people probably don't have at home) without getting your face and clothes full of dust. Not gonna happen!
I bought the recommended F1 filter (like the one in the cannister that is pictured on the box) hoping to alleviate some of this. Turns out that it doesn't fit these refurbs. You have to know in advance that your unit (same model #) was manufactured after 2003.
I could have lived with the fact that the unit was scratched and smelled bad. But I can't forgive what a crappy product it is overall. Sorry, but I say don't waste your money.

(More customer reviews)Powder that kills dust mites dead. It dissolves in water so you can put it in a spray bottle and spray it around the house on about any surface. Left no residue when I used it and there is no lingering odor that I can sense and my sniffer picks up on things other people do not detect.
Seems to have worked so far, but I'm uncertain as the little woman is fastidious about running the vacuum due to my allergy issues. We also use it on the laundry once in a while as well. I don't know if this is truly effective, I don't examine my sheets and carpets with a microscope, I just know that mites die when you expose them to this stuff (surfactants - it's smothers the poor little allergy monsters). I used to work in a pet shop with reptiles and we had to use something like this to kill mites off every so often when a mite infested batch of critters came in. This is "old school" stuff but it's not an insecticide that the mites get immune to. Kind of like using alcohol on bacteria, it will always work.

(More customer reviews)I didnt buy this from Amazon but in a store. Thought I would check out what the reviews were and saw that there were none. I like the fact that it is two in one because I have area rugs for a stand up vac and tons of bare floors for the canister. I was tired of having two vaccums. Great suction. Once you remember to turn the hose to get it on and off it is easy. It is bagless which is useful. There are a couple of drawbacks. DO NOT LIFT THE VAC UP BY THE WAND HANDLE. Lift it by the handle that was intended to be used for lifting. When you lift it by the want handle the handle decides it wants to turn. It is a remvable handle and it has a raised ball on it to slide into a slot. It will dislodge from the slot when you lift the vaccum up by the wand handle and get stuck. It is very difficult to get it back to rights. It is a loud vaccum but not overly loud. I do not like the fact that the attachment intended to be used with the canister portion hasn't a place to be stored. And dirt seems to stick to the cord. You will find that out when you go to wrap it up. It is a very attractive vaccum, easy to use, great suction, versitile.
