(More customer reviews)It seems like all these home cholesterol test kits suffer from this same problem - results are hard to read accurately. The color change starts out strong, then gradually gets lighter and lighter. Interpretation of the ending point (you are supposed to read the very highest number next to any color change at all) is somewhat subjective; two people could read very different numbers.
I also have to wonder why a lookup chart is needed at all - the numbers printed on the unit are a direct scale, and the lookup chart to covert those numbers to cholesterol readings are a direct scale. Why not just print the cholesterol numbers on the unit itself and do away with the conversion chart altogether?

So, the toilets they installed retain moisture and mildew. In addition to the mildew, the toilets were so inexpensive, that the porcelain was not baked on like it is on the more expensive toilets, these toilets have sprayed on enamel porcelain. Thus, making them TOTALLY impossible to clean! I have WAY too much knowledge of toilets now so believe me, you really need to use this stuff because I've used everything out there on the market and this is the only product that removed mildew from the toilets and it's been there for 3 years (gross, I know!). We even tried using a razor blade to get it out to no avail. I let this soak in our toilet for about 2 hours, hoping for a miracle. I about passed out when I flushed it and it was completely clean! Couldn't believe it! Still can't believe it took me 3 years to find a product that worked. To let you know how bad the problem was, we had to replace one of the toilets because I couldn't find ANYTHING to clean out that mildew. Amazing how the new one has NEVER had this mildew problem. Hmmm, lesson here is never buy a cheap toilet! Highly, Highly, HIGHLY recommend!

(More customer reviews)When the transmitter on my old Polar "Smart Beat" started to fail, I had a choice of replacing the transmitter or buying a new monitor. I had never cared for the Smart Beat. The buttons were hard to push, features hard to figure out and the transmitter bulky, so I opted to purchase a new monitor.
The "Smart Beat" was so frustrating to use, that I considered buying just a simple beat and calorie heartrate monitor. But as one who loves the bells and whistles, I thought I would try a more advanced model. If it was as frustraing as my old monitor I would send it back and get a simple one.
Deciding on a heartrate monitor is difficult. I knew I wanted another Polar because of their reputation for quality but which one. Polar makes a ton of monitors. After examining different ones I decided the F-11 would offer me some nice features and meet my needs without being too complicated.
The F-11 has won Polar a number of awards for innovation. The reason is the "Keep U Fit" program. With this progam you input your stats, take a fitness test (which is basically a timed measure of your resting heart rate) and the F-ll will tell you how fit you are. Next you tell the F-11 if you want to improve, maintain or maximize your fitness level. The F-11 then creates a weekly fitness plan for you. It tells you how many hours you should exercise, and how long you should be at each of your heart rate intensity levels. If you succeed you are awarded a digital gold cup - cute huh! If you don't want to follow the program you can just do a regular exercise session.
The F-11 has a lot of great features. It will tell you calories burned, time in exercise and more. You can even pause your exercise session should you need to take a quick break to answer the phone, drink some water or do something else. You can also turn the audible sound off or on to let you know when you are "in" or "out" of your heartrate zone.
The nicest thing about this Polar is it is easy to use. Digital images tell you when you are using the features. For example "Exercise" mode has a little image of a man. "Settings" mode has a view of gears. It will take a while to get used to the features but once you do the visual cues (which were not on my old Polar) will help you to remember whats what.
The F-11 looks like a large oversized watch. It comes in two colors Grey Pepper and Red Chili. I thought the red color was cute but it's so oversized it was a bit gaudy on my wrist so I went with the grey.
The transmitter on the F-11 is much smaller than that on older models. This transmitter is about 1/2 the size of a deck of cards and the electrodes are in a soft strap which is washable.
The strap is sized to fit M-XXL but as a medium woman I thought it was on the smaller size. It does have stretch, but I do not think it would fit an XL and certainly not an XXL. Also the strap is clearly labled M-XXL..this may seem petty, a man may not care but what woman wants to run around with an XXL label sticking out?
Overall, this is a great Polar and sure to bump your fitness up a notch!

(More customer reviews)I bought this test to get a good idea of the pH of the water that gets piped into my home, as well as to test the bottled water I purchase from local grocery stores. And since I've had desires to manipulate the pH of the water I use (I add a small amount of ascorbic acid to a gallon of tap water to make it more acidic, then use it as a hair rinse. And sometimes, I add "pH drops" to my bottled water to make it slightly more alkaline.) - I bought this test to make sure I get the water's pH to a desired level. I have been quite satisfied with the performance and the general accuracy of this test.
As I just pointed out elsewhere on this site - the bottle of testing solution is quite small - about a third of an ounce (the exact quantity isn't listed on the bottle - but comparing it to a 1 ounce bottle, it appears to be somewhere around this size). However, this little bottle will yield you MANY tests - in my estimation, it will yield well over 100 tests. The way this test is run is as follows: you measure out 3 ounces of the water you want to test, then add two drops of solution to this 3-ounce sample of water. Stir the sample well; the sample will change to a color that is indicative of its pH. Compare the color of the sample to the "Color Chart" that is provided - the number on the chart that appears below the color that the sample most closely matches is its approximate pH.
This test works well as long as there aren't too many dissolved substances in the water: if the water sample is too saturated with dissolved solids, the test will not work. That said - from my experience, the test works well for tap water, bottled spring water, bottled distilled water (although you may be shocked at how acidic distilled water that's been sitting in a plastic jug can become!); and the above-mentioned waters with a small amount of a pH-altering substance added. Most likely, you can also use this testing solution to test the pH of water that is the product of your home filtration system.
I'm so satisfied with this product that I could have given it 5 stars: the only reason I didn't is that this test doesn't yield a precise, numerical pH. You can't use this test and say with certainty, "the water has a pH of 4.5"; rather, with this test, you're more apt to say, "the pH of the water is AROUND 4.5", or "the pH of the water is somewhere between 7 and 8." You really have to rely on your own eyes to "estimate" the approximate pH (colorblind people may have problems with this test). If you're absolutely in need of a definite, precise reading with a very low margin-of-error - or if you have high expectations about being able to say with certainty, "This water has a pH of 7.2" - you're likely better served in purchasing a pH meter. But if you only need a good approximation - this test is just fine.

(More customer reviews)If you look at the barley there really doesn't seem to be much going on as it is a seemingly plain powder. What it does however is far from that. I include this in my smoothies to add some slow burning carbs to keep my hunger in check when I am working as I do not like to eat at work. It is not until several hours later that hunger will kick in. Another good thing about the barley is that it prevents any sugar spikes from all the fruit I add to my smoothies. Banana, Kiwi, Strawberry, Mango, etc all are no problem. I wouldn't recommend going too crazy because while it will prevent spikes, your body still absorbs all the sugar. But that is what exercise is for and even with the sugars it is still better than what many people usually eat. As the container is 2 pounds and a big tablespoon is enough for each smoothie I find the barley to last a good while. Barley is usually for me a boring subject, so if I didn't think this product was worth it I wouldn't bother to write up a review. There was no review available at the time of writing this so I figured I would add one for any people who might be curious as to what this product could do for them.

(More customer reviews)This little peak flow meter is very nice. I used it for my son, who had a tendency to try and trick the meters. This meter told me if he was trying to cough into the unit or fool it in some other way. It's small and compact and stores 99 previous readings. I program it to tell me when he is in the yellow or red zone so I can hear it beep when he blows.
The biggest drawback, and the only reason I am not giving a 5 star rating, is the Pikonet software and USB device fails to function properly to download my son's readings. That was one of the reasons I bought this unit, to better track his progress.
PROS:
+ I can get more accurate readings because my son is not able to fool the unit by coughing into it or tonguing it.
+ It stores 99 previous readings.
+ It beeps when the patient is in the yellow or red zone.
+ It is small and compact.
CONS:
- The Pikonet software and USB device do not work to download my son's Piko readings.
SUMMARY
This is an excellent unit as a standalone peak flow meter. Just don't expect the computer connectivity that is advertised.

(More customer reviews)I would have rated this a 5 star if the cleaning was easier, but I do not know if such a humidifier exists.
We have hard water and the build up of scale was becoming a problem, even with daily cleaning (yes, you should clean this unit daily). I came up with a solution to reduce and almost eliminate the scale - I add a teaspoon of baking soda to the tank when I refill it. The scale is drastically reduced and the unit runs at a whisper quiet. I originally ran the unit without the baking soda and there was some noise, mainly gurgling, that was too loud for me since I am a light sleeper.
There is a black covered heating element that requires cleaning to remove scale. This can be very difficult to remove. I solved this as part of the weekly maintenance when you use vinegar to clean the base. The part with the heating element rests on the base. By adding enough vinegar to fill the well where the heating element engages with the base, and allowing it to soak for 10 or 15 minutes, the scale is easily removed.
I like the warm mist because it helps warm up the room.
Overall, I believe this unit is a great value.
