I like strong coffee with milk, he drinks his straight and we both like the Douwe Egbert. It also makes a decent expresso. Now that I know I can order it through Amazon helps when our supplies run low. If you like coffee you need to try this one.

(More customer reviews)I was disappointed with this breakfast tray for a few reasons. First of all, the quality of the wood is a lot cheaper than what I expected. The picture doesn't do it justice...in a negative way! The bottom structure of the tray and legs feels like they're made out of balsa wood. It's nice that the tray is light weight but although I haven't used it yet, it appears that it could be broken quite easily. Secondly, the legs are rather short and the tray sort of rests on your legs (at least for a 5'8" adult male) which makes the tray unstable and can irritate the tops of your legs. If the legs were longer, they would rest on the surface you are sitting on and there would be a space between the tops of your legs and the bottom of the tray. The bottom of the tray itself that sits on your legs can be irritating because of the cheap wood. It would help at least if the edges of the wood that sits on your legs were sanded to a rounded off edge or perhaps some type of molding could be applied to the edge. I think this tray would be better suited for a small adult or perhaps a child. On a positive note, the tilted tray top is a nice feature and the laminate surface is easy to clean. Because of the "quality" of wood and overall workmanship, I would not recommend this for adult use. But for around $20, it's okay for a child but I wouldn't plan on it lasting too long. I would not buy it again!

Aside from our Lab eating the dog food sign 2 days after we set it up, we have had no problems with it. I added a simple hook and eye latch to the lid to keep him from opening it. I also added a piece of corrugated plastic to use as a liner holder, to keep the bag in place.
As they suggest, you definitely need to use a trash bag or other liner to pour the food into. Otherwise, you will end up with bits of food and crumbs at the bottom of the bin, that are difficult to clean. With the liner, you just pull it out and replace it when you refill the bin.
A great product. I would have rated it higher if it came with a latch and a system for holding the liner in place. But, I would purchase it again.

(More customer reviews)This review focuses on the significance of the differences I found between the Pro III model, and a less expensive FoodSaver model I used for about a year and half. The features and uses of the FoodSaver are left for other reviewers. I find the FoodSaver to be a very useful kitchen appliance.
The FoodSaver Pro III model is the second FoodSaver machine I have used. I upgraded from the Model 1075, even though the machine I had was still working fine. I did not know whether the upgrade would be worthwhile, given the cost, but am pleased to report that I found the additional features of the Pro III to be well worth the much greater cost. And I liked the older machine quite a bit.
The principal benefits I have found of the Pro III over the Model 1075 are:
1.Pro III has a built-in roll holder and cutter, and storage of the hose under the lid, which saves space on the counter (on the other hand, the unit is a few inches longer and little wider).
2.Pro III does not get hot nearly so quickly, so it can be used more continuously. When the Model 1075 got too hot, it would not vacuum effectively resulting in wasted storage bags, and the need to wait longer between using the unit.
3.Pro III is significantly quieter. The Model 1075 is much noisier, particularly in the sealing stage.
4.Pro III is easier to start (it starts by pushing a button instead of pushing down on the top of the unit).
5.Pro III has a removable drip tray (this was added to other new models, and is very convenient).
6.Pro III has a sleeker more attractive appearance.
7.Pro III has a setting for a higher level of vacuuming.
The botttom line is that if you upgrade from a lesser model, I think you will be pleased with the Pro III.

Starbucks Ground Coffee Espresso Roast, 12 oz Review

1. "Espresso" is not a roast. It's a drink. In northern Italy they make espresso from Vienna roast, in southern Italy they use French. Starbucks appears to be using French roast, so they should just label it French roast like any normal person would.
2. The product description says "Taste Espresso Roast as both a shot of espresso and brewed in a coffee press. This is one versatile coffee!" This is patently absurd. It's pre-ground coffee, and it's either for use in espresso machines or presses, but not both. Here's why:
Making a shot of espresso requires a very fine grind. Making coffee press coffee requires a very course grind. If you have ground coffee that is appropriate for espresso machines, it will pass through the filter in a coffee press and you will have a cup of sludge. If you use ground coffee that does not pass through a press's filter in an espresso machine, you do not get espresso. You get cafe crema, which is a good, but entirely different, beverage.
Therefore, a "Universal Grind" is an impossibility. They should tell you on the label what kind of coffee maker it's ground for, like normal people.
3. It's over-roasted. Starbucks has an excellent bean-sourcing operation that buys better coffee than any other company of its size. Then they roast all their beans Vienna or French. Most beans taste best at a particular level of roasting that varies with the bean, and for most beans that level is not Vienna or French. So why roast all your beans too dark? I guess it's just easier that way. Also, it lets them rename Vienna Roast as "Starbucks Roast" because the Austrians don't seem to care.
That said, this is still better than what you get in the supermarket - Starbucks specializes in coffee and sources much better beans than any of the companies that also make cheese, hot dogs, shampoo or cigarettes.
Anyway, if you really want some good coffee, do this:
Buy a grinder. Nothing makes coffee lose flavor like keeping it around after grinding. If you have a drip coffee machine, get a grinder with spinning blades; if you have something else like a press or vacuum pot, get a grinder with burrs. If you have an espresso machine, get a very nice grinder with burrs. Amazon has good deals on all three kinds, just do a search for 'coffee grinder'. It's not that much money, and if you're somebody who's willing to pay for Starbucks you should invest in one.
Find a local coffee shop that roasts their own coffee and gives you the date it's roasted on. Freshness matters! Good beans don't taste nearly as good after they've been sitting around.
Ask the people at your local shop to tell you about the correct amount of beans to use. Most people don't use the right amount. If you don't use enough, your coffee comes out bitter, especially if you have a drip machine. Not enough coffee means the beans you do have get too much exposure to hot water, which makes bitter coffee.

The large 120 oz holds a 5 lb bag of flour, and I've been looking for a while for a convenient, attractive container for that. I will be stocking up on these to do my whole pantry.
The one-handed, one-motion snap lid is a life-saver, especially if you have kids in the house. If it's not quick and simple, it just doesn't get closed up at my house. With these containers, it only takes a quick smack and it's closed up tight. So convenient, even the 15 year old will do it (I can't tell you how many stale "reclosable bags" of stuff I've thrown away).
For me, these are awesome. I would highly recommend them.

(More customer reviews)I was first reading reviews @ the Starbucks website for this coffee, and it had great reviews, so I though I might give it a try. I went to downtown and bought a bag of whole bean Caffe Verona and boy I am glad I made that decision.
Out of the bag, the rich dark brown colors and the aroma punished me of the years I lived without this. A blend of 80% Yukon Blend, an array of Latin American and Indonesian coffees; and, 20% Italian Roast - a blend of Latin American coffees.
In the cup the flavor was weak, bold as it smelled it did not seem to have the same score in taste. Light bodyweight with a woody feel to it. The light acidity is topped off with a fruity overtone and bittersweetness.
Let me be as bold as to recommend Peet's Arabian Mocha-Java. If you are looking for a Multiblend similar to this, Peet's fixes whatever lacked in Starbuck's Verona. This Mocha-Java is balanced, nutty and smooth. It has excellent acidity, with a slight bite.
If you want a closer mix to this than I would mix the Arabian Mocha-Java with Sumatra and you will be very satisfied with its resemblance.
There are many coffee drinkers who hate Starbucks because of their corporate culture and popularity. I just like to try anything which looks interesting to me and this caffe Verona is one of the better speciality blends Starbucks has offered.
I almost forgot to mention, whole beans always rule . Even if you ground your beans at your nearest cafe or supermarket, the moment the ground coffee comes in contact with the air, the aroma starts to leak. Grind your beans moments before you put it to use, you will see notice the change in taste and aroma when you are drinking it.

(More customer reviews)I have had a Tilia FoodSaver for more than two years. This particular attachment is used regularly in my kitchen. It is a wonderful way to preserve foods from the ravages of spoilage. I vacuum seal all of my spices, brown sugar, coffee, candy, chips, strawberries, shredded cheeses, tea, etc., etc., etc. Using standard (regular small mouth) mouth jars that I have used for years in canning, I can seal just about anything that will fit into a jar that uses a small mouth lid.
Everything that is sealed in this manner stays very fresh and I can buy larger amounts of things on sale and seal in the freshness. My favorite use is for coffee beans. Recently, I purchased 10 lbs of beans of various types at half price ($4/lb instead of $8/lb) saving more than the cost of this item in that single purchase. The beans stay absolutely fresh until I use them!!
A warning about using the lids, both the jar and the lids must be VERY clean to hold the seal. You should regularly check your sealed jars to make sure that they remain sealed. Also, there can be no chips or cracks anywhere on the jar.
I really do enjoy the sound of popping a lid and hearing the whooosh of the air when it rushes into the vacuum created by my Tilia FoodSaver. I just know that what is inside that jar is FRESH.

(More customer reviews)I found myself sitting on the floor to play games. I wanted a chair so I'd be more comfortable (my leg would fall asleep and my daughter loved sitting on my lap when I would play). So I was on a quest to find a good chair.
I wanted a good quality chair. I didn't care about the sound since I have a surround system and no chair offers HDMI sound. I don't expect sound quality from the chair.
This chair does have wireless sound. A lot of people are looking for this in chairs. They do say it's wireless but like all the others it really isn't. You still have to plug the chair's a/c adapter into the wall.
For my purpose this chair is great. It's very comfortable and very great quality. Think of it as a high end office chair. The rails and arms are metal so I'm not sure if the information on amazon is correct. I'm an adult and find it just the right size. My head is just above the headrest though but that will also depend on how you sit in it. Some other chairs have the problem of tipping over. I found this chair has no problem with that whatsoever.
This is a great chair! If you want the sound this is a bonus but the technology of these chairs has not yet caught up with the current technology of TV's and games (HDMI and surround sound).

I have wanted to get into smoking, and upon much research, settled on the Bradley digital 4 rack smoker. I received the smoker on 9/22/10. Set-up was very easy, and I "seasoned" it for approximately 1.5 hrs. The next day, I put it to use on a couple racks of ribs (I'll omit the details/process of smoking the ribs). I will focus on the performance of the Bradley smoker, saying that for the first (2) uses, the smoker worked as advertised: digital temperature read out was accurate as verified with an internal temp. probe, smoke produced was excellent, and good products exited the door! Now, with the 3rd use, the smoke generator quits working. I discover that one of the cords has a loose connection, and if I giggle it, the smoke generator will work. I was able to tape it so it would work, as I had salmon filets ready to go in! On this go around, I also discovered that the smoker would not get up to temperature. I have it set at 250 and it will not get over 115. Salmon is in jeopardy. I contacted Amazon (on a Sunday evening), and they are promptly sending out a replacement that I will have on Tuesday. I am very pleased with the customer support of Amazon, and my only hopes are that this smoker will live up to the other reviews I've read. If this product can remain durable, it is definitely a 5-star rating.

(More customer reviews)We found Jacobs Kronung coffee in 1991 when we visited our son stationed in Bitburg Germany. They don't drink coffee so we had to find coffee and visited a local grocery store. The rich green bag looked inviting. We don't speak or read German and in the States, a green bag denotes decaffeinated but we decided to give it a try anyway and were we ever happy we did. Jacobs Kronung coffee is a fine ground coffee and it took several tries to get just the right amount but it was wonderful. We loved it! (And we were hooked!)
We mailed several bags home before we left Germany and then hunted for places in the States to buy more. Once in awhile we would find Jacobs in the Air Force Commissary but it was not a given that we could find it regularly. (We did ask our son to send more from time to time as a special treat.)
We've tried several of the blends but prefer the Kronung blend. Jacob's Meisterröstung is stronger and the Night and Day is a decaf version. I was surprised when Jacobs was purchased by Kraft, which shows they know a good product too. Thanks to the Internet, Jacobs Kronung Coffee is easily found and the price here on Amazon is the cheapest I've found.
My daughter-in-law just gave us a Frieling Stainless Steel 35-Ounce French Press from Amazon and I'm going to buy the Jacobs Kronung beans because I KNOW it will make a super combination.
