6 arrested after Florida teen shot and burned in fire pit

AuthoritiessaidSeathJacksonwasluredtoahomeSundayinOcala,Florida,wherehewasbeatenandshot.

Authorities said Seath Jackson was lured to a home Sunday in Ocala, Florida, where he was beaten and shot.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • NEW: Michael Bargo could face the death penalty if convicted, his attorney says
  • NEW: "We are not admitting any guilt at this time," says attorney Charles Holloman
  • Divers find three paint buckets suspected of containing the victim's remains
  • Bargo appeared in court Thursday, where he was denied bond.

See more about this report from CNN affiliates WESH , WFTV and watch "Dr. Drew" tonight on HLN at 9 ET for more on why revenge and hatred could possibly lead someone to commit a crime like this.

(CNN) -- The suspected ringleader of a group arrested for allegedly luring a 15-year-old boy to a Florida home, shooting him several times, burning his body in a fire pit and putting the remains into paint cans, could face the death penalty if convicted, his attorney said Thursday.

But defense attorney Charles Holloman added, "We are not admitting any guilt at this time."

Michael Bargo, 18, appeared in court Thursday where he was denied bond in the killing of Seath Jackson, an act that allegedly involved five other people Sunday in the central Florida city of Ocala, according to a statement from the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Holloman said Jackson and Bargo had dated the same girl, though not at the same time.

Jackson at one point went to Bargo's home yelling and screaming in the front yard, threatening to burn down Bargo's house, Holloman added. CNN cannot independently confirm that statement.

Prosecutors say two females later lured Jackson to the home, where he was beaten with a wooden object. He was then shot several times with a .22 caliber gun, authorities said.

As the wounded teen attempted to flee, he was tackled and shot again, according to the sheriff's statement. His body was allegedly placed in a sleeping bag and burned in a fire pit outside the home.

His ashes were placed into several paint containers and thrown into a large garbage can, authorities said.

Authorities said they learned of the alleged plot from a member of the group who admitted witnessing the killing.

Four adults and two minors have been charged in connection with the death.

Bargo, Charlie Kay Ely, 18; Justin Soto, 20, and two minors face first-degree murder charges, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said.

James Haven, 37, faces charges of accessory to the crime for allegedly helping to dispose of Jackson's remains and driving one of the suspects out of the area to avoid arrest, authorities said.

Sheriff's department documents gave little information on what led to the killing other than brief statements by suspects about a dispute and a growing hatred.

Divers on Wednesday found three paint buckets in a water-filled rock quarry that are suspected of containing the victim's remains, authorities said.

The contents of the buckets were delivered to a forensic specialist at the University of Florida in Gainesville to determine if the ashes and bone fragments match those of Jackson.

Haven, who is not represented by an attorney, posted a $10,000 bond and was released Wednesday morning.

The two minors involved in the case are currently being represented by public defenders, who could not comment.

A jury trial that was expected to take place on May 2 has been postponed, said Holloman.

Soto's public defender, Bill Miller, would not comment on the case. Ely is not represented by an attorney.

Bargo also had a restraining order issued against him, forbidding contact with a person named Calib, who is not connected to the Jackson case, Holloman said.

Charlie's Exes Bond With Each Other

denise-richards-brooke-mueller-bond.jpg

How very mature of these two.

Charlie Sheen's exes, Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, have formed an unlikely bond and talk "quite frequently" with each other.

The two even planned on having a play date with their kids last week, just before Brooke relapsed and checked back into rehab.

An insider says that the two are becoming close friends, adding:

"Brooke and Denise talk quite frequently. It was Denise's idea to get together for dinner with Brooke with their children. Denise's children with Charlie, Sam and Lola, have spent time in the past with their half-siblings, Bob and Max. Denise wants all the children to hang out together.

Denise has reached out to Brooke since her relapse to offer her support. Denise wants to have the girls spend time with their brothers, when she is assured that Brooke is sober, and wants it be a fun outing for everyone, with no drama. It's about the kids forming a bond, and nothing else."

Denise insists that all of Charlie's kids become close and knows that he's not capable of having custody of his children. The source continues:

"Denise is fiercely protective of the girls and will not permit them to be in any environment that has the possibility of causing any emotional harm to them.

Denise makes a mama bear that is protective of her cubs look like a wimp. Let?s face it, Denise has very good reasons to feel the way she does. Denise went through hell with Charlie and she won't let that happen to her girls, period."

We admire her tenacity to keep all the children together. If anything, Brooke and Charlie's sons Bob and Max need stability more than ever. With a father on a tourpedo of anger and a mother in sober living, we're glad that Denise is willing to step in and be a mature adult by bonding with Brooke and her sons.

Apple iPhone sales double in 2011

20 April 2011 Last updated at 17:23 ET

AppleNewYorkstoreThe last year has seen a huge rise in sales of Apple's iPhones, but iPad sales disappointed

Latest profits for the computer giant Apple beat hopes, including a higher-than-expected rise in iPhone sales.

Net income for the three months to March jumped 85% on the same period a year ago, with iPhone sales of 18.65m - a rise of 113%.

The figures are the latest in a string of good results from the US's technology companies.

Intel's figures, released on Wednesday, were also well above hopes and helped share prices to a three-year high.

Apple reported quarterly net profits of $5.99bn (£3.6bn), 95% up on the $3bn it made a year ago. Revenue was $24.67bn, a rise of 83%.

Sales of the company's computers were strongly higher, up by 28% from a year ago driven by its tweaked MacBook Pro.

Apple's figures were not uniformly positive. It sold 4.69m iPad tablet computers in the quarter, below expectations.

Another disappointment was sales of its one-time star, the iPod, down by 17% on the year at 9m units.

Most analysts were enthusiastic about the figures.

Channing Smith, portfolio manager at Capital Advisors growth fund, said: "Dynamite numbers across the board. The only hiccup is lower than expected iPad numbers."

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said in a statement: "With quarterly revenue growth of 83% and profit growth of 95% we're firing on all cylinders."

Mr Jobs, who went on medical leave in January with an undisclosed illness, continued: "We will continue to innovate on all fronts throughout the remainder of the year."

The day-to-day running of Apple is currently being done by chief operating officer Tim Cook.

Ronaldo gives Mourinho first trophy at Real

RealMadridcelebratedtheclub'sfirstSpanishCupvictorysince1993afterbeatingBarcelonainthefinalinValencia.

Real Madrid celebrated the club's first Spanish Cup victory since 1993 after beating Barcelona in the final in Valencia.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Real Madrid win Copa del Rey for the 18th time, beating Barcelona 1-0 final
  • Cristiano Ronaldo scores the only goal in Valencia, heading home in extra time
  • Jose Mourinho lifts his first trophy with Real ahead of Champions League semis
  • AC Milan held to a 2-2 draw at home by Palermo in first leg of Italian Cup semifinal

(CNN) -- Cristiano Ronaldo's stunning extra-time header gave Jose Mourinho his first trophy as Real Madrid coach on Wednesday, winning the Spanish Cup final 1-0 against arch-rivals Barcelona.

Real went to Valencia seeking a first Copa del Rey triumph since 1993, and the 42nd goal this season by the world's most expensive player handed the club an 18th success in the competition.

The Portugal captain rose high at the far post to power in a 103rd-minute effort from a teasing cross by Angel Di Maria, who was sent off for a second booking at the end of the second spell of extra time.

It was Ronaldo's second goal in two games against Barca, having netted a late equalizing penalty in Saturday's 1-1 draw that left the Catalans eight points clear in La Liga.

Is Real Madrid's Mourinho the master of mind games?

Mourinho employed the defensive midfield formation he used in that second "El Clasico" clash this season between the two teams, who will meet again in the semifinals of the European Champions League next Wednesday.

The tactic paid off as Real had the better of the first half of regulation play, and converted midfielder Pepe came closest to breaking the deadlock with a thumping header that hit the post in the 44th minute.

Barcelona battled back into the game in the second half, and had the ball in the net with 69 minutes gone but Pedro was ruled to have been marginally offside as he gathered a superb pass from Lionel Messi.

Captain Iker Casillas then saved Real with superb efforts to deny Messi and Pedro in rapid succession, and the match went to extra time.

Ten-man Madrid deny Barcelona in Clasico

Madrid waited for counter-attacking opportunities, and the first came in the 98th minute as Ronaldo raced clear before driving just wide of Jose Manuel Pinto's far post.

But he made no mistake five minutes later as Di Maria combined well down the left with Marcelo and delivered the perfect cross.

The Argentine departed the scene in time added on, but Barcelona did not make anything of the resulting free-kick and Pep Guardiola's team -- seeking an overall 26th triumph -- could not force a penalty shootout.

It gave Mourinho his first victory over Barca since taking charge at Real, and went some way to avenging the 5-0 thrashing at the Nou Camp in the first half of the season.

He has now won a trophy in every country in which he has coached -- his native Portugal, England, Italy and now Spain.

Meanwhile, AC Milan had to come from behind to secure a 2-2 draw at home to Palermo in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal on Wednesday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic put Milan ahead in the fourth minute on the day he failed to overturn a three-match Serie A ban for swearing in the direction of a linesman.

The Swedish striker, who missed Saturday's 3-0 win over Sampdoria that put Milan six points clear in the league, volleyed home from close range at the far post from Massimo Oddo's deep cross.

Argentine forward Javier Pastore leveled 10 minutes later after combining well with Maurizio Pinilla, and young Uruguayan strike partner Abel Hernandez followed up his weekend double from the win over Roma to make it 2-1 in the 53rd minute with a fierce shot that went in off the crossbar.

However, Urby Emanuelson equalized with 14 minutes to play after Ibrahimovic ran into the box and the ball ran loose to the Dutchman.

Pastore could have restored Palermo's lead ahead of the second leg in Sicily on May 10 but goalkeeper Marco Amelia made a fine save to deny him.

Cup holders Inter Milan will take a 1-0 lead into the May 11 home leg of their semi against Roma after Dejan Stankovic scored the only goal at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday in a repeat scoreline of last year's final.

What?! Matthew Morrison Wants To Leave Glee?!

matthew-morrison-leaving-glee.jpg

No way! Not even! We're calling BS on this - and if Matthew Morrison proves us wrong, we're going to be devastated!

Sources are claiming that Matthew is using his upcoming debut album as "a launching pad to leave Glee.? He supposedly is "desperate" to break free from the show and is hoping his new friendships with Gwyneth Paltrow and Elton John will help him launch his career beyond the confines of McKinley High.

But, but, but?WHY???

The show catapulted him into everyone's radar - just like Lea, Cory and Dianna - and gave him the freedom to make this album while still doing the show. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to us! Why wouldn't he have any loyalty towards Ryan Murphy and Co. for that?!

BS! Completely BS!

Right, Matt???

UPDATE: Cool your jets, Gleeks. Mr. Schue isn't resigning. His rep was contacted for comment and confirmed that: ?This is not true at all.? He isn't leaving the show and more importantly, he doesn't want to leave the show.

And somewhere in Lima, Ohio, Sue Sylvester is torturing a Cheerio in a blind rage.

Chris Hemsworth Wasn't The Studio's First Choice For Thor - His Brother Was!

liam-chris-hemsworth-thor-role.jpg

We think they went with the right Hemsworth!

So far, we're hearing nothing but good things about Chris Hemsworth and his role in Thor, but surprisingly, Chris wasn't director Kenneth Branagh's first choice for the hammer-wielding hottie. After the first round of auditions, Kenneth had a shortlist of four actors he wanted for the part. Chris was on that list - but his brother Liam Hemsworth was!

Chris laughs about it now, but he admits that he and his brother are "competitive, but in the best way." However, their rivalry didn't get in the way of Liam offering his bro some tips that helped him make a better impression when he was ultimately called back a second time.

Sounds like whatever advice he gave you was pretty sound! And it all worked out for the best, anyway. You get to play Thor in a major superhero franchise, and now he's got a part in the next tween fantasy craze!

And we get to ogle you both!!! A win-win!

Watching DVD player gets 2 Cleveland air traffic officials suspended

Controller catches flick at work

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • NEW: FAA suspends Cleveland air traffic controller for watching movie "Cleaner" on duty
  • Agency also suspends manager of air control center
  • FAA officials, union representatives begin a cross-country tour in Atlanta
  • FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt says mistakes "will not be tolerated"

Atlanta (CNN) -- The Federal Aviation Administration on Monday announced the suspension of a Cleveland air traffic controller and a front line manager after the controller was discovered watching a movie on a portable DVD player while on the job.

The announcement coincides with the Monday launch in Atlanta of a nationwide tour by top FAA officials and union representatives, to discuss professionalism and safety at air traffic control centers.

It also comes after the agency suspended a Miami controller on Saturday for falling asleep while directing air traffic.

The Cleveland incident occurred early Sunday morning, according to an FAA statement. The agency stated that the controller was watching a DVD while working a radar position at the Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center.

"For a little more than three minutes, the controller's microphone was inadvertently activated, transmitting the soundtrack of the movie over the radio frequency for that airspace," the statement read. "The problem was brought to air traffic control's attention by the pilot of a military aircraft using an alternate frequency."

The FAA forbids the use of video players and other devices on the radar room floor, according to the statement.

An FAA official, speaking on background, confirmed that the movie the Air Traffic Controller was listening to was "Cleaner," a 2007 movie starring Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris and Eva Mendes.

FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt has not commented on the Cleveland DVD incident, though he has repeatedly voiced outrage over the problem of air traffic controllers falling asleep on the job.

"None of us in this business can tolerate any of this," Babbitt said of the sleeping controllers. "It absolutely has to stop. ... One mistake is one too many."

This "will not be tolerated," said Babbit in Atlanta on Monday.

Federal officials have announced a series of new regulations aimed at preventing air traffic controllers from falling asleep while on duty.

Among other things, controllers now must have a minimum of nine hours off between shifts, instead of the current minimum of eight hours. In addition, controllers can no longer be put on an unscheduled midnight shift following a day off.

If the shift from eight to nine hours isn't enough, "then obviously we'll take that into consideration," said Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. But it's up to the controllers "to take personal responsibility" and get adequate rest during their down time, he said.

FAA managers will also schedule their own shifts in a way to ensure greater coverage in the early morning and late night hours, the secretary noted over the weekend.

To date, the FAA has suspended seven controllers for failing to stay awake at work.

LaHood called the fatigue experienced by overworked controllers "a very big concern."

He vowed, "We will do better."

Aside from Miami, cases of sleeping controllers have been reported in Washington; Knoxville, Tennessee; Seattle and Reno, Nevada. There have been two suspected cases in Lubbock, Texas.

All of the incidents occurred during controllers' midnight shifts. Most of the lapses occurred at local control towers.

In at least one incident, the FAA has said, the controller deliberately went to sleep, while some of the others appear to have been accidental.

Midwest braces for more storms

Amazing storm survival stories

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • NEW: Forecasters say seven states, mostly in the Midwest, at risk for severe weather Tuesday
  • Cities at risk include Indianapolis, Tulsa and St. Louis
  • Weather service confirms at least 97 tornadoes in last week's storms
  • Weekend outbreak in the southeastern U.S. is largest since 2008, records show

Chicago (CNN) -- Another round of severe storms Tuesday could strike Oklahoma, one of the states hit by a wave of violent weather last week, forecasters say.

National Weather Service forecasts early Tuesday include the possibility of heavy winds, large hail and tornadoes also in Illinois, Kansas, Arkansas, western Tennessee, Indiana and Missouri. The cities at risk of severe weather include St. Louis, Indianapolis and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The threat of heavy storms is predicted to diminish in those areas on Wednesday morning, but the Northeast could experience isolated outbreaks of severe storms later in the day, forecasters said.

The South, according to forecasters, has little chance of suffering a repeat Tuesday of the violent storms and tornadoes that killed at least 45 people last week.

Three days after the largest tornado outbreak since 2008 raked the Southeast, the focus has shifted in the region to cleanup.

RELATED TOPICS

"Everybody's been coming together," said Doug Western, pastor of Kendale Acres Free Will Baptist Church in Sanford, North Carolina. Along with the adjacent parsonage, the church escaped largely unscathed from the massive tornado Saturday that reduced several surrounding homes to sticks.

"That's the wonderful thing about this. We had people we didn't even know coming by wanting to help," said Western, whose church has served as a meal center for many neighbors and a base for delivering food and water to other neighbors by golf cart.

At least 97 tornadoes struck between Thursday and Saturday, according to National Weather Service records. Yet more tornadoes will probably be confirmed on top of the 249 reports received during the three-day period, CNN meteorologist Sean Morris said.

Twisters hit 12 states: Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri, Illinois, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. The reports are based on preliminary weather service reports that the agency warns are often revised downward after more complete information becomes available.

Of the 45 deaths reported, 22 were in North Carolina, six in Virginia, seven in Arkansas, seven in Alabama, one in Mississippi and two in Oklahoma.

The deaths in North Carolina are the first from tornadoes since 2008, when two people died. In 1984, 42 people were killed in a tornado outbreak there.

Hardest hit from the latest storms was rural Bertie County, where 11 of North Carolina's 22 deaths were reported and 67 of 130 homes across the state were destroyed.

At Shaw University in Raleigh, President Irma McClaurin decided to call off the rest of the semester because of damage to the campus.

Julius Stukes, Jr. used a video camera to document the damage the storm wreaked across the campus.

"All of the offices are done. Oh, my God, this used to be an office; it's not anymore," Stukes exclaims on the video recording he provided to CNN affiliate WNCN. "Our campus is done. The whole campus is done."

In Virginia, Gov. Robert McDonnell toured storm damage Monday and met with people affected by some of the six confirmed tornadoes that hit the state to discuss the pace of recovery operations.

"It looks as though the resources that have been dispatched are working incredibly well," McDonnell said.

Later Monday, the governor sent a letter to President Barack Obama, requesting a federal disaster declaration to expedite assistance to all Virginia communities -- including hard-hit Pulaski County -- affected by the storm.

The 97 tornadoes confirmed so far makes the outbreak the most active since June 2008, when 136 tornadoes ripped through the Midwest, according to National Weather Service records.

In February 2008, a 131-tornado outbreak struck the Southeast and Ohio Valley on Super Tuesday primary voting day, killing 57 people and causing more than $1 billion in damages, according to the National Climatic Data Center.

And in April 1974, an outbreak of 148 tornadoes struck in 24 hours, killing 330 people, according to National Weather Service records. That is the most tornadoes in a 24-hour period in U.S. history, Morris said.

Wildfire ravages home, spares roosters

RoostersareleftunscathedafterafireengulfsmostofLonnieCreswell'spropertynearGraham,Texas.

Roosters are left unscathed after a fire engulfs most of Lonnie Creswell's property near Graham, Texas.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Members of a Texas family have a few minutes to save what they can as flames sweep in
  • They watch the fire engulf their home
  • Graham, Texas, residents are hoping to avoid a wildfire disaster

Graham, Texas (CNN) -- A fast-moving wildfire ravaged Lonnie Creswell's life in a matter of minutes.

She and her family were driving home from a softball tournament Sunday afternoon as the fire rolled toward their home on the southern edge of Graham, a small town in Young County.

She pulled up to her house and raced to load the car with as much as she could save. Her husband released livestock so the animals could try to run to safe ground. Local authorities ordered them to escape immediately.

"We had 15, 20 minutes to get out," she said. "We salvaged what we could from our house."

Struggling to hold back tears, Creswell described driving to a nearby church and looking back at their property only to see the flames engulf everything.

"I just thank God we're alive," she said. "This (family house) can be rebuilt, but we can't be replaced."

The fire destroyed the Creswells' home, but it left a family of unlikely survivors. The flames rolled right over a rooster coop on the property, but when Creswell came back to assess the damage she found the roosters unscathed. It was the silver lining to a horrific day.

The Creswells said they'll rebuild their home in the same spot. They've lived on this land for 12 years and don't want to leave.

"There was generations of family heirlooms that can't be replaced," Creswell said. "But I've got the memories."

The wildfire that destroyed the Creswells' home is one of a series of blazes that are ravaging the area around Possum Kingdom Lake, about 100 miles west of Dallas-Fort Worth.

This massive wildfire already has torched more than 50,000 acres in four adjoining counties. Fire officials at a command center in Strawn, Texas, said 30% of this Possum Kingdom fire has been contained.

Fire crews from across the state are descending on the wildfires. Dustin Tidwell, for example, is a volunteer firefighter from Payne Springs, Texas, which is several hundred miles away from where he was working this week, fighting a flash fire in a wooded area south of Graham.

Most of the dry brush had already been scorched by the wildfire but hundreds of hot spots were still firing up. In this rugged terrain, smoldering embers can shoot up to 8-foot flames in a matter of seconds.

"It's very dangerous. I've never seen anything like this in Texas," Tidwell said moments after spraying water on a hot spot. "It's hot, it's hard work, but it's enjoyable. We're having a lot of fun out here."

Tidwell's youthful enthusiasm is needed at this moment. He's part of several strike teams trying to protect Graham. The wildfire is about five miles from the town and its 10,000 residents.

Young County Sheriff Bryan Walls said he's confident firefighters will be able to keep the wildfire from getting into town but high winds still pose a dangerous threat.

"We've seen the wind shift four or five times since it started," Walls said.

Many of the small country roads south of Graham have been closed off as the wildfires jump across roadways and fire crews crisscross the back roads to put out the flames.

Firefighters early Monday experienced a tense situation when the wildfire rolled over a tanker next to an oil well. The tanker erupted and the explosion rattled homes more than five miles away. Even 15 hours later, black smoke was billowing from the scene.

>>> we are back now with the story of lane garrison , an up and coming hollywood star who made one tragic mistake that resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy and a real life stay behind bars for the star of the show " prison break ." he'll join us for his first sit-down interview since his release from prison but first here's miguel almaguer.

>> i got something for you this time.

>> my career was just taking off and i thought, here we go.

>> reporter: in an instant, the actor known for playing a convict became one. december 2006 , garrison, 26 at the time, was invited to a high school party.

>> this was a night of just bad decisions.

>> reporter: teenagers were drinking, so was he.

>> i am guilty, your honor.

>> reporter: convicted of vehicular manslaughter, garrison faced the victim's family in court.

>> there can be no doubt that the defendant is reckless. he's careless. and above all, he's selfish.

>> reporter: the sentence? three years, four months. his first stop, the l.a. county jail.

>> you are basically thrown up against the wall. your clothes are stripped off. you're standing there naked. they check every orifice of your body. they give you a number. your name is gone. my number was f-95770.

>> reporter: the actor wasn't on set anymore. he would spend the next 20 months moving from prison to prison.

>> i can remember all eight prisons, everybody in them.

>> reporter: garrison says he's lucky to be alive. do you think you deserved to be there?

>> absolutely. 100%.

>> i say a prayer for the family every night.

>> reporter: a young hollywood actor with an uncertain future and an unforgettable past. for "today" miguel almaguer, nbc news, los angeles .

>> lane, good morning.

>> good morning.

>> good to see you. i wonder if people understand. you were released from prison in 2009 .

>> right.

>> so you have tried to remain quiet, stay under the radar for a while. why are you speaking out now?

>> i think part of it was once you do an amount of time it take as while to adjust back into society. i really wasn't ready to speak to anyone. you know, out of respect for the family, i didn't want to say anything. but i knew as people were asking me more questions that eventually i was going to have to talk. i felt there were just blurbs mentioned about me. i would say something about prison and it was like, lane complains about jail or says it was hell. the message was, hey, if you don't want to go through what i went through and you don't want a family going through the pain, don't drink and drive.

>> when you look at the night of the accident, so many bad decisions made in one evening. is it fair or unfair to say you felt the way a lot of stars in hollywood do and young people in general. you felt invincible.

>> i think for me, i had been through so much. i had just lost both of my parents. i felt like nothing else bad can possibly happen to me. i'm on a course that life's going to be great from here on out. i think the message is simple here. drinking and driving , most people don't have an intent to hurt somebody. but it happens. it can happen to anybody. for me, look at the decisions that i made that night. they were so poor. my judgment was poor. it was 26 minutes from the time i met them through the party to the accident.

>> you went to court and a lot of people expected this excuse, that excuse. you stood up in court and you said, "i am guilty." i think that probably started a transformation in your own life.

>> absolutely. i think that was the first time i became a man when i accepted responsibility. i fwru up learning from a father who said, when you make a mistake or a bad decision, man up and take responsibility. the minute that i decided to do that, most people speculated that i wouldle fight it. the minute i decided to plead guilty is the minute everything changed in my life as a man.

>> you talk now about your time in prison. it was not easy. it was a number of different facilities over 20 months. i think you say the 77 days you spent in l.a. county waiting to be processed for the hardest. give me a sense behind the wall .

>> behind the wall at l.a. county jail and if you speak to someone who's done time, the fact you make it out of there alive is a miracle.

>> why?

>> first off it's like a bomb went off inside. it's your worst nightmare. your hard-core gang members are there. you know, the guards are pretty hard there as well.

>> you witnessed violence?

>> i probably saw 300 fights. i had a bunkie who was killed. i saw people stabbed. i don't know if they made it or not.

>> as a high profile inmate at that facility and others, why do you think you were never harmed? why didn't somebody say, i'm going to get the actor kid over there?

>> they might have. i believe i had a guardian angel watching over me. i don't know why nothing happened to me. i would be sitting in the yard and someone next to me would literally just get clocked. i was never touched. it's by the grace of god i'm sitting here with you today.

>> i know you pray for the family of the victim, the 17-year-old, every night. the reality is he's not coming back. you are going to live with this forever.

>> forever, right.

>> you're a convicted felon.

>> right.

>> how do you deal with that?

>> you don't deal with it. i mean, it's always going to be there. it's something i think about almost every hour. you know, i try to go on with my life by teaching other people and helping other people, reaching out and letting people know, hey, this can happen. i don't want it to happen to you.

>> you have been given a second chance. you are acting again here on nbc. what does that mean in terms of your road to getting back to some sense of normalcy?

>> it's a miracle. just going through eight prisons, i never thought i would make it out to see another set. so i'm fortunate enough to get a second chance when a young man doesn't have one. i'm going to make the most of it. i'm blessed to be on set and be working again.

>> lane, it's nice of you
