Change is in the air here in Key West and anyone who has recently visited can confirm. Summer is quickly approaching as evidenced by this past weekend's abrupt increase in humidity. Living here in Key West, most of us are aware of what the changing season means. The tourist traffic is dissipating, the island is returning to its native inhabitants for yet another season. Summer brings hot sticky weather but it can be the best time for you to visit. Most tourism traffic is stuffed into a period starting in December and running through April but there is really no reason for people to not visit. Summer is a beautiful time in the Key's; from the Poinciana trees blooming to lobster season there is always something to see and do. The best part is the savings you can encounter as the season slows. Restaurants begin to offer meals and 3 course specials, airfare is cheap and hotels and Inns are practically begging for you to book a room with them.
it's also a great time for you to come and really enjoy the water. The ocean temperatures can tend to be quite chilly in the winter (at least for us locals) which is why you will see the reefs full of boats during the summer. It's like getting into a hot tub but the scenery is much more extravagant. Jellyfish and Man O War are basically gone by now and you can truly enjoy a little boat party.
Now is a great time to visit and for more information see our links below.
