If you thought that enjoying a nice glass of good red wine with dinner would spoil your diet or waistline, then think again. Despite what conventional diet gurus might say, recent studies show that the health benefits of just one six ounce glass of red wine far outweigh the 120 calories it contains. In fact, many diet programs do not take into consideration the latest health benefits of drinking red wine.
Clinical studies have demonstrated that men who drink two glasses of good red wine daily lower the risk of heart disease by 50 percent. Women can reduce the chances of heart disease by 30 percent just by consuming at least one glass of wine daily. Considering that heart disease is the number one killer in the United States, these findings are significant. In fact, red wine acts similar to a diuretic by helping the body to rid itself of excess sodium with the effect of lowering blood pressure.
Recently, further research has also indicated that red wine might also help in the fight against kidney dysfunction, arthritis and cataracts. If your hectic schedule finds you in a high state of stress, then one glass of wine with dinner will help relax you and even aid in relieving digestive problems.
Remember that not all wines are created equal. Generally red wines contain more antioxidant power than white ones. So make sure to include a good red wine with your meal to help in the quest for better health, less stress and more pleasure.
Giving wine gifts usually takes investigation on the part of the gift-giver. First of all, is the person who’s going to receive the gift really fond of drinking wine?
If you’re sure he or she does enjoy wine, try looking at his wine rack or her stemware to find what kind of wine might be preferred. Pre-checking always pays off when giving wine as gifts. But if you’re not one to do such investigation, or if you just aren’t able, then here are a few suggestions for you. These wine gifts online are the most requested by avid wine lovers.
The first on the list is Merlot wine which is very fruity and soft. You can never go wrong with this dry red wine originating in France. Surely, the person who will receive this gift will be thankful just by smelling the wine’s delectable aromas of currant, green olive and black cherry. Merlot can be bought online starting from $15.
At the lowest price of $20, you can also try giving a Pinot Noir which also originates from France. Tagged as ‘the romantic wine’, this grape wine will be a perfect gift for you love one. Its attractive sweet scent and strong punch have made it the most popular wine in the world and one of the most wanted wine gifts online.
Also on the list is Riesling wine which retails starting at $15. This dry white wine leaves a strong but pure taste of flowers, tropical fruits and minerals. It’s sweet but also has a tinge of acidity which makes it suitable for Thai and Chinese cuisines.
Another white wine that ranks high is the Chablis. Selling at $20, this French wine is notable for its crisp flavor and its acidic yet sweet flavor. Chablis is a gourmet type of wine, usually served during special occasions especially as a compliment for oyster and fish dishes.
The most famous red wine in the United States, Cabernet Sauvignon is still one of the most wanted wine gifts online. Its sophisticated scent of berries, chocolate and cedar is truly irresistible. The wine is perfect for meals with pasta, dark chocolate and meat. At $11, Cabernet Sauvignon has also been proven to be a healthy drink. It can even reduce the risk for the degenerative Alzheimer’s disease.
If you prefer gift sets, you can also find wine gifts online in baskets with fruits, nuts or chocolates. Wine gift baskets are often a great way to express appreciation. Fruits and wine gift baskets come with seasonal fruits like grapes, oranges, pineapples and apples. Chocolate and nuts in wine gift baskets, on the other hand, include pistachios, almonds, Swiss and Fererro chocolates and chocolate coated cherries. Wine gift baskets come with additional fees, usually starting at $40. But depending on the kind of wine, you can buy a basket with more than one bottle.
Wine gifts are perfect for any occasion. So if you’re looking for a perfect gift, why don’t you order your wine gifts online for your loved ones now?
Wedding favor question posed by one of our readers:
Question by ★Anonymous★: Has anyone ever tried
Korbel Brut Rose or Sweet Rose?
Is it good? Which one is better? I have never tried either one.
Also, is this a good enough champagne to give out as a wedding
favor… or is it just the cheap kind and will it make me look
cheap?
Thanks.

Answer by kfaulk211I think for sparkling wine you’ll probably want to stick to a dry (brut) white – not a blush. I overwhelmingly prefer brut over sweet, the latter of which is typically only consumed with desserts.

Offers
Cristal 2002 is brilliant yellow with light amber highlights and
has a beautiful mousse with fine cordon of persistent and regular
bubbles. The nose is intense and delicate, revealing a clean and
well-blended mixture of flavors of honey, cocoa, lightly toasted
hazelnuts, candied citrus fruit. A savory explosion of ripe fruit
on the attack, the wine reveals red fruit, white chocolate,
caramel and Danish pastry, typical of Cristal. Its silky,
concentrated texture relies on its intense, powerful and vinous
structure, but maintains refinement. The palate builds up to
attain a delicious sensation of well-blended harmony of flavors.
A fresh finish with a hint of bitterness makes it almost crunchy.
Cristal, the jewel and tête de cuvée of Champagne Louis Roederer, was created in 1876 for the Tsar Alexander II of Russia. It remains faithful to its origin, inspired by elegance and purity. Cristal is produced with regimented standards of winemaking that require a rigorous selection of crus, vintages, grapes, and wine.

Some say the best white wine in the world comes from the Cassis region of Provence, France. This beautiful fishing village is situated in the southeast of France along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea between Marseilles and Bandol. Famous mainly for its white wines, their white wine production makes up over 75 percent of the production in this region; quite unique since most of the other eight wine regions of Provence are known for their rose’ and red varieties.
Cassis white wines are made from the main varieties of grape in the area including Marsanne, Ugni blanc and Sauvignon blanc. These white wines are dry, full-bodied with light acidity and aromatic herbs that are delightful with the region’s typical seafood fare.
The Greeks founded Marseille in 600 B.C.E., and for over 2,600 years, wine has been produced in the Provence Region. Called Nostra Provinica meaning Our Province by the Romans, Provence became the first Roman territory outside of Italy. Winemaking and vineyards were greatly influenced by the presence of various cultures who inhabited the area throughout history including the Greeks, Romans, Gauls, Catalans and Savoyards. Each group introduced their particular grape varieties to the region, and the culmination of all these available varieties have made the Provence region famous for their vineyards and wines throughout the world.
To learn more about the best white wines in the world found in Cassis, there is a great video of the region which can be purchased or rented below:
