Professor Titles in Wow Archaeology

Wow archaeology professor titles can be earned by completing rare artifacts. Of course, the number of required artifacts is a mystery known only by the mysterious World of Warcraft random generator. Should the random generator smile upon you, you will start off with the Assistant Professor achievement.

Assistant professors in college never had the good paying job though. They just had to go for this and go for that – just a lot of filing paperwork, preparing class material and filling in when associate or head professors had important things to do, like teaching conventions, symposiums or the occasional round of golf! But I digress.

The very first WoW archaeology rare find earns this coveted first title of Assistant Professor when gamers complete the “I had it in my hand” achievement…basically requiring the discovery of just that one rare blue artifact. Next on the list is the “What was briefly yours is now mine” achievement, which requires finding 10 rare artifacts to earn the next level Associate Professor title. Last, but definitely not lease, you will become a bonafide Professor. After finding twenty (yes, 20) more additional rare blue artifacts in the “It belongs in a museum” achievement line, the pinnacle of this profession is reached – the Professor!

Some interesting suggestions by other WoW players concerning how to acquire the WoW archaeology titles more quickly include:

WoW Archaeology Title – Plan A

1)    Get dwarf rares from eastern Kingdoms plus the troll sword and two fossil rares while completing the dwarf finds.
2)    Go to Kalimdor at level 450 so Uldum dig sites will spawn and then begin working on Night Elf artifacts. At that point, you will probably gain 2 rares from the Tol’virs while working on the Night Elf ones.
3)    Next stop in the WoW Archaeology quest for titles is the Outlands for Orc and Draenei rare drops.
4)    And then finally Northrend brings epic Vrykul artifacts for the taking.

Something one player commented on is not to focus on Tol’vir or Nerubian rares if you want to “speed” through obtaining the Wow Archaeology titles, and I use the term “speed” loosely here! There aren’t enough Tol’vir and Nerubian dig sites to help earn the title expeditiously and will just eat up even more than WoW archaeology already takes.

Wow Archaeology Title – Plan B

Complete fossils while working on Dwarf and Night Elf. Move on to Draenei and Orcs. Then work on Nerubian and Vrykul together. During all of this archaeology travel, you’ll still find troll dig sites. Don’t pass them by. Once at level 450 you should be much closer to getting the achievement.

Any WoW gamers out there that already maxxed out WoW archaeology to earned the top title? Please comment, and let us know how you obtained the title or if you have any better suggestions for moving through the achievements more quickly.

WoW Archaeology Updates

The latest WoW archaeology updates for World of Warcraft patch 4.1, Rise of the Zandalari, include seven new reward drops from the fossil, troll and Vrykul archaeology branches. The patch will also cause players to be less likely to get dig sites for any races where rare artifacts have already been discovered. The following are the newest rare items available for Wow Archaeology:

Extinct Turtle Shell  WowArchaeology

This epic shield for level 85 has an amazing 11896 armor protection, strength of 180 and stamina of 286. It also boasts a dodge rating of +114 and mastery rating of +134 when equipped. This knobby shield is from the Fossil branch and requires 150 fragments and a bit of luck to find. For enchanters out there, it disenchants into a lovely maelstrom crystal!

Pterrordax Hatchling  WowArchaeology

You’ll love this cute, little green dino baby! The latest rare blue companion pet will cost you 120 fossil fragments. Watch out or he may bite!

Voodoo Figurine  WowArchaeology

The voodoo figurine is one scary dude so don’t mess with his ju ju! Also a companion pet, this rare item needs 100 troll fragments to complete.

Vrykul Drinking Horn  WowArchaeology

One of those strange miscellaneous artifact rewards, the item itself says it can be used as a quaff of the drinking horn. What is a quaff exactly? Well, it’s a swallow or gulp of a beverage. We haven’t yet seen this one so if any reader has earned this WoW archaeology reward, be sure to comment below and send us a pic of this drinking horn in action.

Ancient Amber  WoWArchaeology

Ever wondered how the fossils encased in amber on Jurassic Park feel in their hard, shiny shells? Well, now you can experience it digitally with the Ancient Amber rare item that will have your toon trapped in amber. With a 30 minute cooldown and very short effect, it might not seem that 100 Vrykul fragments are worth the effort. But if you have one, a screen shot of your toon in the thick, golden stuff would be interesting to see.

Haunted War Drum  WowArchaeology

No WoW experience would be complete without the hauntingly rhythmic boom-boom of the beating drums of fate. Now your character can use this rare blue item, place it on the ground and hear its beat any time. Unfortunately with a 30 minute cool down, seeing it one time might be all you need. This novelty item needs 100 troll fragments to complete…if it comes up in the random award generator.

So there you have it, the latest WoW archaeology updates and rare fragments available for digging 24, 7. Send your screenshots and comments when you get these rewards. We’ll be happy to post them here for all WoW lovers to see. Happy Gaming!

WoW Archaeology Rewards

WoW archaeology rewards can take quite a while to earn. While WoW Cataclysm archaeology can certainly give you a little bit more about the story line of the World of Warcraft Universe, most players are leveling this new profession in order to reap available rare and epic rewards.

Generally speaking most promising WoW archaeologists will receive common items after solving an artifact. These gray and white common items can be sold to vendors for silver, and as the profession level increases, sometimes for gold. As with most World of Warcraft professions, higher levels equal greater and more significant rewards although even in archaeology, there are common items at higher levels as well.

Many of the rare and epic items gained through WoW archaeology have no noticeable increase to power or skill, and in some cases, are just plain toys for fun and entertainment. There are some armor and weapon pieces, which when found, will be bound to the account and can be passed to other characters on a player’s account. One thing to note is that rare items can only be granted once while common items can be found again when all race artifacts have been solved.

Keystones in Wow Archaeology

Keystones in Wow Archaeology are randomly discovered while using the survey ability at dig sites. When you use the keystone for a particular race’s artifact, you will find that placing it into the keystone slot will grant the equivalent of 12  fragments.

In order to use the tablet keystone, you will need to open your professions tab and click on archaeology. Then you’ll click on the race to which the tablet belongs. That will take you to the solve page, and on that page, is where you place the tablet keystone.

The only time you can use these tablets is when they will complete missing fragments so you’ll need to keep an eye out as you’re surveying so that you can solve for artifacts quicker with the keystone.

Important point for Wow archaeology users, it would be a good idea to hold onto these tablets as they are discovered. Save them to use for rare and epic items that require more fragments to solve. That way you’re not wasting the keystone on common items that are easy to solve by just digging sites. Also later on when you’re archaeology skill is higher, keystones can be used in dungeons to grant buffs to your dungeon group.

Wow Archaeology keystones include:

Trolls – Troll Tablet
WowArchaeology

Night Elf – the Highborne Scroll
WoWArchaeology

Dwarves – Rune Stone
WoWArchaeology

Orcs – Blood Text
WoWArchaeology

Draenai – Tome
WoWArchaeology

Nerubians – Obelisk
WoWArchaeology

Vrykuls – Rune Stick
WoWArchaeology

Tol’vir – Hieroglyphic
WoWArchaeology

Wow Archaeology Five Things to Like About This Profession

WoW archaeology as the newest profession in WoW Cataclysm is receiving widespread interest from World of Warcraft gamers. The Internet is abuzz with story after story about this profession, and of course, everyone trying to sell the latest gaming guide.

When Cataclysm released on December 7th, the archaeology trainers of Azeroth were quite busy as every interested gamer dropped 8 silver on learning this latest profession. As soon as I logged on, I definitely trained both my 80 mage and 80 priest in WoW archaeology. Then I made a quick stop at the flight trainer to obtain the flight master license so I could fly in the old world. Next, it was off to begin the grind.

So after hours and hours of traveling the continent of Azeroth to level the profession, I discovered five things to like about WoW Archaeology.

Worldwide Travel

WoW Archaeology requires extensive travel in order to level the profession. So if you want to really get to know the World of Warcraft Universe, it will definitely be a great addition to your gaming style. When you train in archaeology, your big map will show dig sites represented by a shovel that you must fly to in order to find artifacts. At each dig site, you find 3 artifacts and then must travel to the next site usually in another country in order to proceed further. With the ability to fly in Azeroth and Kalimdor, it is certainly easier to get around!

Involvement in the Storyline

Finding artifacts is only part of WoW archaeology. As you complete the digs and find artifacts you learn more and more about all the characters and creatures that are part of the story line of the game. Each artifact gives you a little bit of the lore and legend of each of the finds whether it be troll, fossil, dwarf or night elf.

Good Loot

At the beginning of working on the profession, you will mainly get common, gray items for the reward when completing artifacts, however, as you progress you will be rewarded with rare and epic items and buffs.

No Competing for Resources

Wow Archaeology is rare in that you do not compete with fellow players for the artifacts you find. Each dig site is uniquely your own unlike professions such as fishing where someone can snag the fish right out of the area you’re fishing.

Gathering Bonus

Another positive aspect of archaeology is that as you’re working in the field it also compliments any other gathering professions you may have. Often when you’re digging for artifacts there are lots of mining nodes and herbs for gathering. Also, there are usually monsters and beasts you can kill while on the archaeology path that give money, loot to sell, an occasional green item and cloth for tailors.

Overall, Wow archaeology just feels different from any other profession in the game. It truly does give a new experience. It is definitely a profession to train in and try out for yourself!

WoW Cataclysm Shattering is Now

In preparation for the release of WoW Cataclysm, The Shattering occurred in today’s update. The entire level 1-60 experience has now changed with brand new content. It is so awesome, and the game runs more smoothly. It promises to add much more enjoyment to World of Warcraft gameplay.

There will now be many paths to help you get from level one to level 60. No longer will there be one single best path. Now you will have the option to take multiple paths to reach the higher levels. Paths that you choose to make for a more personal gaming experience.

Check out the new leveling here:

alt

With the latest WoW Cataclysm update, you can go from levels 1 to 60 without ever leaving the continent you started out on. If you start in the eastern Kingdom, you can stay there. If you start in Kalimdor, you can stay in Kalimdor until level 60.

So there will now essentially be several best leveling paths for each continent. If you want to blaze through your leveling in the new WoW Cataclysm, you need a leveling guide that will cover all continents for levels one to 60.

So far in my experience with leveling guides, there is only one guide that covers both continents with the best and quickest leveling paths available.

Go here for more information and to download your guides:

Once you use the guides, let me know what you think! Please post in our comments section below.
