That being said, my husband has enjoyed latte's 5-7 times a week now for over a month and the machine works great each time. The one thing you just have to make sure you do is release the pressure in the machine after you've let the machine cool down for some time. If you don't I think the seal would have issues.
Also, the milk steamer should be cleaned periodically with hot water or else you get junk built up on it.
Anyway, it's a great little machine and I love it.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these for my mother for Christmas. Years ago I had gotten her a Black&Decker cup-at-a-time coffeemaker and it finally gave up last year. The only cup-at-a-time coffeemaker at a reasonable price I could find locally was by Toastess. The Toastess paled in comparison to the Black&Decker, not only in build quality but in ease of use. My mother suffers from a neurological disorder which makes it difficult to coordinate the use of her hands; she is okay with general tasks, but nothing which requires fine manipulation. This Black&Decker coffeemaker, like the model before, is easy to use. The power switch is on the front and a little larger than several coffeemakers switches; you just have to push down on it. There is nothing to move out of the way when filling the reservoir; just lift the lid. The reservoir is also a little wider than the Toastess making it easier to fill. Of course, one of the safety features, which the Toastess model also lacks, is the automatic shut-off. When it is finished making a cup of coffee, and it is fast, it just shuts off, which is great for someone who keeps forgetting to turn off their coffeemaker. The only issue I can see that someone may have, and niggling at that, is that this unit cannot hold tall coffee mugs. All of my mother's coffee mugs fit, which is a lesser concern for me, however, than its ease of use and safety, at which this Black&Decker excels.--Bob

The extra 5 minutes that it takes to boil the water and wait for the coffee to brew in this press are so worth it that the old machine is gone for good. There is so much flavor using this press, and the coffee is deliciously rich and dark. The frother works in seconds (I warm up my milk first for an easy, kind-of-cheating cappuccino). The carafe is supposed to be unbreakable and the pieces are easy to throw in the dishwasher.

(More customer reviews)This is a really nice machine for the price point. I've been using mine for about a month and I'm just starting to dail it in. The case comes off pretty easily (5 screws) so you can access to OPV for group pressure adjustment and boiler pressure. Mine came with the boiler set at .8 bar, I upped it to the green zone of the gauge about .9 bar. I also turned down the group pressure to 9 bar (it came set a 10). I have about a 2 minute recovery time and consistent shots. The biggest downside is the heat exchanger and group need pretty large flushes +-8 oz before pulling a shot. Get Eric's thermometer ($100) plugged into the group and flush to about 207 degrees. After 10 seconds, you can pull a shot at 200 degrees at the puck.
The machine is pretty big - it looks large on my counter and I have a very big, modern kitchen. My wife made me move it to a less obvious location because it seemed a little oversized for the spot my Gaggia Classic used to reside. The design is nice - completely stainless. The lever seems so much better that pushing a button to pull a shot. You'll get the same results, but it feels more "classic". The hot-water wand competes with the lever for space so you'll neet to orient it out to the side when pulling shots, but it doesn't drip so no worries. The drip tray is very large - it'll take the entire water resevoir. BTW, the resevoir has no indicator when it is low, and you have to take the cup warmer off to fill it. Get a funnel.
I'd prefer to have a group pressure gauge, easy access to OPV and boiler pressure controls. But you'd pay an additional $300 for a machine with those features.
Note, the boiler is 1.8 liters (60 oz), not 12 oz as the description says.

(More customer reviews)Well, I don't usually review products...cause some people who do are either way too passionate about their foam, or their kitchen or their whatever....and I don't care to be lumped into the whole lot.
Anyway, I just got the machine. I'm a darn tough person to please, and I'm fairly pleased. No hassles really. Made good n' hot lattes etc. no problem frothing milk etc. My only hangup is that there is no little lever or something to hold down the filter when cleaning the coffee out of it. I used to hold my old one down with my thumb and hit it against something to jar out the used coffee grounds.
The unit is really heavy, which tells me there is something inside...not just a $100 piece of plastic. Compared to my old Krups pump model, it is much more solid, heats everything more quickly and is easier to use than expected.
Let's face it. Anyone taking time to go through the hassle to actually make cappucinos at home is too spoiled for their own good anyway. I'm just thankful to be able to whip up a fantastic espresso or latte or whatever with this machine.
Now someone who really, really knows everything there is to know about crema and the oxygen content of "perfect" foam and whatnot...can write a review more helpful than mine. Enjoy.

(More customer reviews)Either my machine is a lemon or there are some serious design flaws. In short, ours' clogs up very easily. I finally bought Lavazza beans at the recommendation of a Saeco retailer who said that the beans are that much more important with conical burr grinders. At first the lavazza beans seemed to solve the clogging issue but after about 8-10 coffees it happened again. I can't imagine Saeco would intend consumer to clean the brew unit every couple days and not everyone buys the "perfect" gucci italian coffee bean. Also, when my wife set the dial to 7 to make basically a full cup of regular coffee, part of it leaked out the bottom of the machine (it's happened twice now). It's amazing how quickly coffee will stain a countertop if yr not aware the leak is there at first. Needless to say, for marital harmony the machine is going back and I'm going to pop more $ for a gaggia or Jura Capresso. We had a Saeco Royal previous to this one and honestly we abused that machine with oily beans, we didn't clean it often and it just kept on ticking. When the Rondo did brew a shot in the last few weeks of use the coffee was very good with a nice crema. Saeco customer service blamed the clogging on the coffee beans I was using previously (Cafe Vivace - seattle) which I found hard to believe. We have not called them about the leaking as we've just given up at this point. It CAN make good coffee but either there is a serious design flaw, or again, we got the lemon. Just be advised since many of you know how poorly a day can start at 0530 when yr denied coffee.....

I had to call repeatedly to get help, including numerous messages with the Customer Service Supervisor, who never called me back at all. This machine is also very high-maintenance - if you're buying it for milk drinks, be prepared for an extremely rigid cleaning procedure, which is an enormous hassle. I strongly encourage people to avoid this machine. I would suggest the Jura Z5, which does cost about $400 more, but at this price point, save yourself the aggravation.

The carafe pours nicely and fits in the machine easily. The filter holder has a nice handle that makes it easy to remove.
After going through 2 bad coffee makers (Pillsbury and Black & Decker) I was going to shell out the money for a Bunn. Then I thought I could buy 5 Proctor Silex makers for the price of one Bunn. It was a good choice.

(More customer reviews)This is a heavier mixer than the "Artisan" model, and the bowl raises and lowers on a lever rather than the head of the mixer lifting up. If you make heavy breads or a lot of bread for your family, this may be a better choice mixer with the stronger motor.
You can also add a grain grinder to the front of the device--there's a lid that flips up and you insert it into a hole with a positioning pin. The motor then turns the grinder, sausage stuffer or vegetable grater. The grinders work terrific; the vegetable grater/slicer is a variation on those cone slicers and not my favorite attachment. But for a one-stop heavy-duty device that mashes potatoes, kneads bread, whips egg whites, stirs cake batter or grinds wheat flour or rye flour, this can't be beat.

I wouldn't use any other brand than KitchenAid especially for a mixer. I just used the bread dough hook this week to make cinnamon rolls and it worked marvelous - the rolls came out light and tender and delicious. I'm 71 years old and KitchenAid Mixers are fairly heavy, but I have mine stored close to the counter so I don't have to lift it very far. My mother gave me hers when I was first starting house and I have had one every since. This model is great if you are a heavy baker. Some models are more for just cakes mixes and mashing potatoes, but this one will do it all!

It is unbelievably hard to crank, he always had to do it because I literally could not turn the crank more than a couple of inches either way. It broke off internal plastic pieces the very first time we used it, and more pieces broke off each time, until after using it about six times, it was completely unusable. This is a very expensive ice crusher that looks like it is quality because it appears to be all metal. Do not be fooled. Many interior pieces are plastic, and break immediately. This was a complete waste of money.

(More customer reviews)I LOVE this mixer!! I have wanted a Kitchenaid for so long and I don't know why I waited! (Well perhaps the cost, but it puts what I used for years to shame) It certainly makes baking more fun... and in half the time!
I purchased this mixer at COSTCO 4 months ago. What got my attention then was the great rebate from KitchenAid - so watch for those. I used it ALOT during the holidays. Made great cookie dough and I am amazed at how fast egg whites whip up. I have mixed meat loaf in it also.(No more gross hands!!) I will be honest and say I have not made any bread dough with it yet, but that's next.
I do recommend getting a second bowl for the mixer so when you have to mix 2 different parts of a recipe you can just switch out the bowls.
The only CON I see is that you have to stop and scrap the bowl a couple times. You can't do it while mixing as the way the beater moves and completely mixes throughout the bowl. It mixes ingredients well and none left on the bottom, just the sides.
All in all this is a great mixer and I highly recommend it.

I was looking for a salt and pepper mill that were small in size, functional and decorative (for I have a french country style theme in my kitchen). These mills served all my needs. I had read reviews about this product, and all seemed very positive. Although my husband (and I) had trouble accepting the overall cost for the purchase of a simple salt and pepper mill, we are both delighted with our purchase. It is very simple to add your salt and peppercorns to the mills. It can feel a bit awkward when initially using the mills because of the small size as well as the "crank" on top of the mill, but you get over that quickly. We previously had used a Banton wooden salt and pepper mill, but this product takes the cake.

The coffee maker takes forever to brew and the pot and its lid are kind of cheap.
