(More customer reviews)I have long owned a Rival can opener but, after some 25 years, the drive wheel had lost its bite, and was not propelling the can. What I particularly liked about it was that the cutter was a wheel, which always left a clean edge to the can. The drive wheel was held in position by a screw and required only a new toothed wheel, easily changed, had it been available. I thought this model(CN738) worked in the same way, but see that its cutter is a blade. It will do, of course, but it's not perfect.

(More customer reviews)I was worried about buying this online without a review but boy am I glad I did. I wanted the stainless steel look first of all and I got more than I wished for.
I know I sound like a geek getting all excited about a can opener but compared to the Black and Decker one I had that took forever to get it to line-up and open a can plus the noise on it, this one is a dream.
The magnet on it searches for the top, you don't have to stand on one foot and hold one arm up at the same time to get it to line-up. Plus one of the nicest features is that it puts crinks in the top of the can, so when you throw away the top it's not sharp. I worry about that since my dog loves to get in the trash can, I'm afraid she'll cut herself.
Plus this can opener is so quiet. For those who have animals who come running when they hear the can opener running this is a nice reprieve. I haven't tried the knife sharpener yet but I have high hopes. This is a must for anyone looking for a can opener!

(More customer reviews)Comments from other reviewers re the locking mechanism are unfortunately on target. The slipping defeats efforts to apply the necessary force to a saw cut -- and even trying to tighten down with big pliers (why should we have to??) will not solve the problem. Sadly, the bad news does not end there. The lopper mechanism employs a bicycle-style chain at the businss end, which would at first glance seem to be a fine idea (robust strength, and no rope chafe to be concerned about). BUT, inexcusably poor engineering of the guides through which the chain runs means that the chain itself can all too easily twist, bind, kink, and jam under load. So the pruning session comes to a complete halt, and we have to make a trip back to the barn for dismantling and clearing of the mechanism, on the workbench. This is designer error, not operator error. After having the same thing happen three and four times a day in regular use, we replaced the chain with spectra line, and thus solved the problem. Buyer beware, and what a shame that there are few other choices in the current marketplace. This could and should be a much better product.

The blade doesn't rust easily if cleaned after use, holds an edge, and doesn't bow out when used for chopping, unlike the thinner, cheaper ones on the market. The best feature is the rubberized handle, which helps reduce shock to the hand and improves grip. The only drawback is that it doesn't come with a sheath, which I had to buy separately. The cardboard packaging will keep the blade safe for a while, in the trunk of your car, for example, but it won't last forever.

(More customer reviews)What can you say - its 2" x 6" coarse one side and fine on the other. Its core is a flattened steel plate nickel plated with the diamond crystals bonded to each side. Because it's steel and not plastic, as long as you hold the tool you're sharpening consistently you will get a straight edge.
It's nice having both the rough and fine grit on the same sharpener. And the only practical way to sharpen modern stainless high-hardness knife steel is with diamond.
My only complaint is that the DMT sharpeners like this used to come in a nice leather holder (which I used for final stropping by hand). This comes in standard plastic shell packaging.
Regarding the other review - This is 2" by 6" as clearly stated - Wishing it were bigger isn't a problem with the sharpener - It's a buyer problem. But it is big enough that if you were to sharpen a sword, for example - You hold the sword still and move the sharpener - Not vice versa.

(More customer reviews)I have used the same three Henckels knives for the past 10 years--a paring knife, a utility knife, and a carving knife in the Pro series--and I have been very happy with all of them. After seeing the Twin Select knives, I decided to get the 8-inch chef's knife to add to my collection. This knife is perfect for chopping and slicing. It has a nice wide blade that is nice for larger vegetables like carrots. The knife is heavier that any of my other knives but not so heavy to make using it a chore. The blade has stayed extremely sharp and the handle is contoured nicely and feels good in my hand when using the knife. My only complaint is that the handle is a bit slippery if you get it wet. Overall I would recommend it to anyone who does a lot of cooking, it makes an excellent addition to any knife collection.
