It's so pretty, I will for sure serve soups and stews right from the pan! The color is a deep graduated cranberry and the inside is a nice cream color . It is cast iron coated with high quality porcelain. You cannot put this in the microwave, but it can do everything else. It's really nice to have a pan (finally) that can be moved frow stovetop to oven and vice versa. Thanks Paula! This is beautiful, useful cookware and the color is just lovely. It also comes with three of Paula's famous recipes.

(More customer reviews)I was very excited to see that several silicone items were being made by kitchen-aid, given their product history. I used to work in the food industry and silicone baking mats were indespensible to us. However, this is NOT the same stuff. As the other reviewer said, it produces a rubbery smell when baking (not appetizing, and not like commercial silicone mats) AND my muffins stuck to the pan like glue. If I have to use nonstick spray to prevent sticking, I'll just use my old metal muffin tin.
Unfortunately I waited til more than 30 days after I purchased it to give it a try, and now I can't even return it. At least it was cheap when I bought it.
If you want some silicone bakeware stick to silpat or matfer baking mats for now. They are great. As for formed bakeware, don't purchase these.
I give the product 2 stars because it makes items in a muffin shape but doesn't live up to product claims of non-stick, and beacause of the icky smell it makes.

(More customer reviews)I just made some banana bread in the silicone rubber loaf pan. It was a really weird experience. The loaf pan is a soft rubber and doesn't feel structural enough to bake anything. There are two main advantages. 1) Nothing sticks to silicone rubber. 2) The silicone rubber loaf pan is so flexible I could probably turn it inside out, and that makes it easy to remove baked items.
My banana bread is usually baked onto the metal non-stick loaf pan when it emerges from the oven. Then I let it cool and it steams in the pan and is essentially glued to the pan. The loaf comes out, but the crust has turned to goo and is stuck in the loaf pan. With the Kitchenaid silicone loaf pan, the loaf just popped right out. It wasn't too browned. It made a beautiful loaf, like a picture in a cookbook. The sides pooched out a little, but not badly.
There was no silicone oil or chemical smell as reported in other reviews. Perhaps that was caused by an earlier batch of bad bakeware, or using the silicone rubber pan under a broiler and overheating it? I baked at 350 F in an electric oven and the loaf pan seemed chemically inert and the banana bread tasted fine.
In addition to seeming weird, there are some functional differences. Compared to metal pans, I'd add some more time or bake at a higher temperature. And no more reaching in with one oven mitt and pulling out the pan. The silicone rubber loaf pan requires two hands and two oven mitts.
Because the silicone loaf pan is so incredibly nonstick, cleanup was extremely easy. My only problem? I just bought some nice metalic Kitchenaid nonstick bakeware. It's very nice, but the silicone rubber pan works so well it's like alien technology.
Did I mention it's *really* non-stick?

(More customer reviews)I used my new Kitchenaid 9" round cake pans today and they work great!! I lightly sprayed them with Pam cooking spray that contained flour. They bake beautifully without any attempt to stick. I placed the silicone pans directly on the oven cooking rack without the use of a baking sheet. They sat perfectly level on the oven rack. Taking them out of the oven is a breeze. The cake pans cool quickly and were easy to handle. They have a wide brim that allows you to hold the pans securely. I love these pans! I have ordered the Heart shaped and Square pans. Get these pans while they are cheap in price. You can not go wrong. Use Pam spray and your cakes will pop out like mine without any trouble. Also, these pans will interlock inside one another for easy storage.

(More customer reviews)Here is the product that started it all. Created originally as an alternative to Melmac, way back in the Nixon administration, it has captured the imagination of America, especially when it was found that one could microwave food on it.
Its siblings, in Butterfly Gold, Spring Green, Snowflake Blue, Old Town Blue, et al, alas, are not longer available. But this set 100% compatible, so it makes for a quick way to restock broken pieces (no, NOTHING is 100% indestructible) at half the price of replacing pieces one (or four) at a time.
No, it doesn't have the stackable (and microwaveable) cup and saucers. It doesn't even have the ceramic (non-microwaveable but matching) mugs. But basic white cups and saucers are available anywhere. This has the basic pieces (minus the dessert bowl) that you probably want, plus some tumblers thrown in for good luck. But be careful, because the tumblers are clear, so they are not really Corelle, and they shouldn't be thrown far...

(More customer reviews)These are well-designed, durable dishes, but the darker colors do tend to show scratches. When stacked, the rough bottom of one plate can scratch the plate beneath it. This is a problem with the newer style Fiesta more than the "vintage" Fiesta which had more glaze on the bottom, and a problem with new dishes more than those which have been through the wash many times. When stacking these dishes in the cupboard, especially when they are brand new, you might want to put coffee filters between the plates to minimize scratching.

(More customer reviews)The original "French White" Corningware was made of their famous pyroceramic glass, which could be used on the gas stove, put directly in the freezer, put under the broiler right from the freezer, and oh yes, also used in a microwave. And it was very unlikely to shatter if dropped. If you pounded on it with a hammer and nail you might have gotten it to break.
When World Kitchens bought the license from Corning, they decided to halt production of a line of cookware that would take anything and last forever, and dupe customers, especially brides, into thinking the stoneware "French White" was the same thing as the wonderful French White pyroceramic cookware previously available.
The pattern is attractive and can be used with any decor, but this stuff is not, repeat, really not, what people mean when they say "Corningware."
Le Creuset can do most of the above mentioned, but it being metal you cannot use it in the microwave. Stoneware cannot go on top of the stove, and repeated trips from the freezer to the oven will eventually cause it to craze and crack. And being stoneware, it will also chip, and break if dropped, etc. Pyrex glassware cannot go on the gas stove although you can take it from the freezer to the oven, and also microwave it.
The only product which could do anything was pyroceramic, and World Kitchens has chosen to remove it from the market because it is "too good."
They have recently brought back a few of the old square shapes, with the Cornflower, or plain white, calling it "vintage," but the French White shape is not making an appearance yet. If you want it, email them and ask for it!
Meanwhile, don't buy this stuff. Get Le Creuset for cooking and roasting (yes it is expensive but it lasts forever and cooks beautifully), and reheat things in Pyrex in the microwave.

Con: Price (what affected rating) - but you get what you pay for and will provide many years of use. These are glass so breakable. Not as wide a selection as the plastic Snapware or Pyrix.
Pro:Excellent product. I purchased the 8 cup, 4.6 cup, and 1.7 cup rectagles and they stack together nicely, but will mostly be in use rather than stacked away. I was looking at Pyrix but found the lid on Snapware were much easier to use and fit tightly. The glass is more stout than Pyrix. Pyrix is now has some silicone on high end products and but not lids yet- I will hold off on Pyrix until they offer Silicone lids. The clear see- thru Silicone lids provide a much better fit and easier to use than plastic. Anyone can easily manage these lids. Attempting to do away with old plastic storage for everyday use. Purchased at BB&B. The 4.6 cup size will get the most use and is a good size if you want just one. I hope this review is helpful! :)

They are pretty thin (not much thicker or heavier than dinner plates, really), so don't inspire a lot of confidence when you hold them. So really they should get zero stars. (More customer reviews)A friend told me about clay pots, so I decided to try this one. I normally cook for 2 people. This is a medium sized pot and you could easily cook enough meat for 4+ adults, but if you want to cook the veggies at the same time (highly recommended!), you will need a bigger pot. Last night I roasted a game hen - my first attempt. I adapted a recipe from the Chicken Boulangere in Bridget Jones' "Complete Guide to Claypot Cooking". It was incredibly easy. I soaked the pot while I prepared the veggies. Just put some sliced potatoes, onion, lemon and herbs in the lower half of the pot and season with salt and pepper. Put the game hen in the middle, and then I put some baby carrots and another layer of potato slices around the bird and brushed everything with melted butter. I put the pot in a cold oven, and turned the heat to 450. It was done in less than an hour. As this was my first time, I checked the hen temperature with a meat thermometer - it was a perfect 180F.
One thing to realize is that the pot releases steam. This means that the veggies will not be crisp, unless you take the lid off for the last 10-15mins of cooking to crisp up the top layer. The result was truly delicious, by far the most moist poultry I have eaten for a long time. The potatoes were fabulous too, they absorbed the juice from the meat, giving them a wonderful flavor. Cooking everything in one pot tied all the tastes of the different components together very nicely. My husband loved it too. I will certainly use this pot on a regular basis, and can't wait to try it on chicken, duck, beef and lamb. It is a whole new adventure in the kitchen, which makes it fun! I may even buy the bigger 4 quart model, as it will make entertaining much easier - you can put the whole meal in one pot, put it in the oven and then forget about it until the timer buzzes! From my experience last night, I know I would be serving a tasty meal I could be happy to entertain with.
