Allison Iraheta Does It Again!

Allison Iraheta proved once again that there is at least one girl in the competition. American Idol 8 is being dominated by the boys and that may play to Iraheta’s advantage.

Lil Rounds once again failed to live up to her potential. She does appear to have a huge voice, but she doesn’t know how to use it.

The two frontrunners, Danny and Adam, again had solid performances. It is only a matter of time to see if anyone can challenge them in the final weeks.

Best of luck to Allison Iraheta though. I guess she is the only female who even has a slim chance to make it to the end.

Jesse James Dirty With Midget

Celebrity Apprentice tonight is really going out on a limb. Melissa Rivers and her team produced a viral video: Jesse James Dirty With Midget. Now this may offend some people…ok it will offend some people, but it is kind of funny.

Clint Black is totally being a self absorbed star “project manager”. His idea is stupid and he won’t listen to the people on his team.

I guess one team has to win, at least Melissa’s team was able to work together. Clint forced all his people to be subservient or cause a mutiny.

I’m not sure either team should win. Can’t wait to see the boardroom.

Taking Solar Panels Home

Anyone who considers themselves going green and who owns a home has at least considered creating their own energy. The two most common ways of generating your own energy for home use are through solar panels or with a wind generator.

Both options seem to be a huge project, and in truth they are. But there are many cost effective ways to build your own solar panels to use in your home.

The time you spend pales in comparison to the reward you will feel when you know that your home is running on eco-friendly power. And when you get your electric bill every month you will actually see the reward of your labors.

Megan Joy Corkrey Is Back On American Idol

I am so psyched that Megan Corkrey is back and has a chance to make the final 12 on American Idol. She is one of the judges favorites and if she has a solid performance on Thursday there is no doubt they will put her through.

Another results night — complete with Wild Card contender announcements — and yet another opportunity to ask: “Is American Idol taking cues from The Bachelor’s Jason Mesnick? Is the show determined to throw away my love, to leave me glowering and muttering the word ‘bastard’ under my breath?” Yes, folks, there are spoilers ahead, so if you’ve DVR’d Idol or are waiting for the west coast telecast, stop reading now.

Lambert, Iraheta and Allen are American Idols

So much for my favorite, Megan Joy Corkrey. She will have to claim one of the judge’s wild cards to get into the final 12 of American Idol’s Season 8.

Allison Iraheta advanced after performing Heart’s “Alone” last night. The 16 year old redhead from Los Angeles did rock the house, but I’m not convinced she can make it very far.

Kris Allen had a mediocre performance last night, singing Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror”, but he impressed the judges in the Hollywood round. Apparently America agreed with the judges. The 23 year old from Conway, Arkansas will need to pick better songs but he does have the voice to carry him to the end if all goes well.

Adam Lambert is definitely a crowd favorite. He has the look of a rocker and he did a great rendition of The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction”. If he keeps it up, the 26 year old, also from Los Angeles, might just give Danny Gokey a run for his money over the coming months.

I will still hold out hope that Simon and Randy can convince the girls to let Megan Joy Corkrey through to the finals…can’t wait to see what happens next week!

Megan Joy Corkrey…American Idol?

American Idol may have just showed us its newest star tonight. Though she is very raw, she has talent and more importantly, Megan Joy Corkrey has the look of an American pop star.

The cute little blonde from Sandy, Utah has massive potential, and a massive full arm tattoo. The judges liked her tonight as they did in Hollywood. She just needs to make gradual improvement every week and she could go a long way.

Of course, if America doesn’t vote for her tonight I guess it won’t matter. That brings me to a question. If the judges are going to pick the final 3 “wild card” contestants after America votes, will there be 6 men and 6 women again this year?

In years past there have always been an equal number but it is possible that this year could be a different story. We’ll see.

Discount Wii Systems Few & Far Between

My son has been searching the net for discount wii systems but he’s not found it that easy to locate any consoles which are significantly cheaper than the brand new product. The console has been so overwhelmingly popular that it seems demand is still outstripping supply to a large degree.

There are some places online where it’s possible to find discount wii systems but they’re few and far between currently. Wholesale sources are one place to look and used items can be found on eBay. In fact there are thousands of Wiis on eBay daily. It’s probably one of the best places to pick up a bargain on a Wii at the moment.

Michael, my boy, actually gave up trying to find a Wii system that he could afford (he’s been saving up for weeks now) so it looks like I’m going to have to dig into my pocket (trying to avoid all the fluff and receipts) so that he can be the proud owner of the games console which is revolutionising the market.

Some of the games which I’ve seen for this toy are really amazing. We visited my brother for Christmas and his kids got hold of a used Wii before the holidays. We played tennis which was actually really tiring and the ten pin bowling kept us entertained for hours. Hopefully I’ll find a discounted Wii soon!

Renting DVDs Has Changed

It’s almost impossible to go to the movies for $2 anymore. Occasionally, you can still find a few budget theaters, but they’re few and far between. When I got to college I couldn’t afford going to the movies every weekend, so I started watching movies at home. DVD rental stores(like Blockbuster) are more popular than ever, and their selections are better than most of the films showing in the theater these days anyway. They’re also a lot cheaper, a blessing for a poor college student.

Netflix, a by-mail DVD rental company, will send you as many DVDs you can watch in a month. They are the pioneers of DVD rental by mail, and for a $20/month subscription fee you can compile a list of DVDs you want sent to your home. They’ll send them in batches, and when you’re done watching the DVDs you can mail them back in the supplied envelopes. When Netflix receives your DVDs they’ll send out the next few on your list, letting you order the DVDs by phone or online. Blockbuster, a longtime leader in both VHS and DVD rental, picked up on Netflix’s lead and now offers a similar program, allowing you to either order their DVDs through the mail or to pick them up in their brick and mortar stores; as many as you want for a monthly fee.

Though I miss my local movie theatre, it’s tough to beat the current DVD rental options. I can watch more movies for less money than the cheap seats, and I can even have the movies delivered to my home. If only I had a bigger TV and a stickier floor I could edge out the local theatre in every respect.

I’m Convinced: Stun Guns Work

My Aunt Louise lives in a high crime area in a small city. She’s lived their all her life, and sadly, things have gone down hill recently. Being on a fixed income, she really can’t afford to move to a better neighborhood, so she’s taken some steps to protect herself. To help her out, I bought her a stun gun. I wasn’t sure if it would be any use, but she was dead-set against getting a real gun.

Anyway, one day, she was walking home from the local bank, having just got her check cashed, when this little thug tried to snatch her purse.  Aunt Louise is a feisty one, lol, and put up a fight. During the struggle she managed to get the stun gun out of her purse, and next thing you know…ZZZAAAPP!! The little punk let go of her purse, I can tell you that. He didn’t stick around either as she stepped towards him with that stun gun crackling.

I hope she gets her an attack dog soon, but for now, I’m glad she has that stun gun.
