A stumble may prevent a fall.

– English Proverb

There will always be humps and bumps along the way. It is an unavoidable part of human existence. You can choose to accept this idea or just give up every time you meet a roadblock. These little mistakes might just be a reminder for us to tweak our strategy or direction.

The most practical, beautiful, workable philosophy in the world won’t work – if you won’t.

Success is not permanent. The same is also true of failure.

– Dell Crossword

Nothing in this world is actually constant. One day you’re down here the next day you’re up there. The key is to find the way to stay on top as long as you can and acknowledge that defeat is always imminent. Just keep on going and keep on improving.

We can have more than we’ve got because we can become more than we are.

– Anonymous

Choice, not circumstances, determines your success.

– Anonymous

Don’t pass the blame to other factors or situations for it is simply not right. Life is a series of choices and you alone can determine what is right for you. Make up your damn mind and live with the consequences of all your decisions.

Most successful men have not achieved their distinction by having some new talent or opportunity presented to them. They have developed the opportunity that was at hand.

No one ever attains very eminent success by simply doing what is required of him; it is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction.

– Charles Kendall Adams

Don’t feel contented once you reach the top. Try to push your limits, explore new ideas and challenge the conventions. Don’t be afraid to enter the unknown for they may lead you to a better path and greater glory.

Steve Jobs Speech at Standford

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1R-jKKp3NA

At his Stanford University commencement speech, Steve Jobs, CEO and co-founder of Apple and Pixar, urges us to pursue our dreams and see the opportunities in life’s setbacks — including death itself. One of my favorites quotes on success during this speech is this:

Stay hungry. Stay foolish.

As CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs spearheaded a few of the most iconic products in technology, entertainment and design. He’s well known for his iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac and other notable Apple products. His death is a big loss not only to the gadgets industry but to creativity as well.

BE INSPIRED

The very reason why you are reading quotes on success is you’re not satisfied yet with what you have or where you are right now.

AGREE?

When you were young you believe that anything is possible and dreams do come true.

But life is not a fair and every struggle forces you to be “more realistic” and abandon your grandiose aspirations. As you get older and supposed to be “wiser” you try to play things safe and avoid taking huge risks at all cost. You don’t want to rock the boat so to speak.

You are content with being “AVERAGE”.

BUT YOU ARE NOT!

You are meant to shine and achieve your fullest potential. You must realize that.

WAKE UP MY FRIEND! GO OUT AND LIVE AN AMAZING LIFE.

To help you get back on track and achieve great things in life, I have collected some great quotes on success to revitalize your mind and body. And inspire you to TAKE ACTION and DON’T SETTLE for just a GOOD LIFE.

The person who gets the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore

– Dale Carnegie

Be daring my friends. Never be in the comfort zone. Don’t be stagnant and try to learn new things every single day. Or do things differently. Take risks and enjoy the ride.

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.

– Vincent Lombard

Fortune favors not only the brave ones but someone who is willing to go when the going gets tough. You can see it everywhere from small business owners to high-performing athletes. I say to you don’t give up easily and embrace challenges in your life.

The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes.

– Benjamin Disraeli

Every day is an opportunity to improve your skills and abilities. Sharpen your wits and make your body stronger for you will never know what tomorrow holds.

Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got.

– Anonymous

Change is good. Change for the better not for the bitter. There is no such thing as an overnight success and it would take a lot of sacrifices and growing up to reach your ambition. You are where you are right now because of what you have. If you want something more or you want something better you need to find out what you can do to better yourself.

You have achieved success if you have lived well, laughed often and loved much.

Life is not about how much money you made or how powerful you become. It’s all about enjoying your life, building good relationships, sharing love and appreciating everything may they be good or bad.

Success is a journey, not a destination.

– Ben Sweetland

This is a cliché but most people are so into the future and they fail to live the present. Yes, we all have dreams and plans for a better life and we ironically kill ourselves to get it. What you don’t realize is you are probably in one of your destinations or milestones but too busy to notice it.

Don’t necessarily avoid sharp edges. Occasionally they are necessary to leadership. – Donald Rumsfeld

Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out. – Stephen Covey

Men make history and not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better. – Harry S. Truman

The art of leadership… consists in consolidating the attention of the people against a single adversary and taking care that nothing will split up that attention. – Adolf Hitler

One of the true tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency. – Arnold H. Glasow

John Wooden Pyramid of Success

Coach John Wooden is one of the most successful coaches in the world of basketball and infamous for the Pyramid of Success. In fact, he is the first guy to be inducted both as a player and coach into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

ESPN hails him as the greatest coach of all time, across all sports. In his 40 years at UCLA, he mentored legends such as Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

In his TED talk, he said so many great things that helped me understand the true meaning of success. This is the very core of his pyramid.

Never try to be better than someone else, always learn from others. Never cease trying to be the best you can be — that’s under your control.

If you get too engrossed and involved and concerned in regard to the things over which you have no control, it will adversely affect the things over which you have control.

I coined my own definition of success. Which is: peace of mind attained only through self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to do the best of which you’re capable.

If you make the effort to to the best of which you’re capable, try and improve the situation that exists for you, I think that’s success. And I don’t think others can judge that.

I think it’s like character and reputation. Your reputation is what you are perceived to be; your character is what you really are. And I think that character is much more important than what you are perceived to be.

I ran across other things. I love to teach, and it was mentioned by the previous speaker that I enjoy poetry, and I dabble in it a bit, and love it. There are some things that helped me, I think, be better than I would have been. I know I’m not what I ought to be, not what I should be. But I think I’m better than I would have been if I hadn’t run across certain things.

I had three rules, pretty much, that I stuck with practically all the time. I’d learned these prior to coming to UCLA, and I decided they were very important. One was — never be late. Never be late. I belive in time. Very important. I believe you should be on time.

I came up with a pyramid eventually, that I don’t have the time to go on that. But that helped me, I think, become a better teacher. It’s something like this: I had blocks in the pyramid. And the cornerstones being industriousness and enthusiasm, working hard and enjoying what you’re doing.

And I say to you, in whatever you’re doing, you must be patient. You have to have patience to — we want things to happen.
They (the youth) think all change is progress. And we get a little older — we sort of let things go. And we forget there is no progress without change.

And I believe that we must have faith. I believe that we must believe, truly believe. Not just give it word service; believe that things will work out as they should, providing we do what we should.

I think our tendency is to hope that things will turn out the way we want them to, much of the time. But we don’t do the things that are necessary to make those things become reality.

You and I know deeper down, there’s always a chance to win the crown. But when we fail to give our best, we simply haven’t met the test, of giving all and saving none until the game is really won. Of showing what is meant by grit. Of playing through when others quit. Of playing through, not letting up. It’s bearing down that wins the cup. Of dreaming there’s a goal ahead. Of hoping when our dreams are dead. Of praying when our hopes have fled. Yet losing, not afraid to fall, if bravely we have given all. For who can ask more of a man than giving all within his span. Giving all, it seems to me, is not so far from victory. And so the fates are seldom wrong, no matter how they twist and wind. It’s you and I who make our fates — we open up or close the gates on the road ahead or the road behind.”

Don’t whine. Don’t complain. Don’t make excuses. Just get out there, and whatever you’re doing, do it to the best of your ability. And no one can do more than that.

If you make effort to do the best you can regularly, the results will be about what they should be. Not necessary to what you would want them to be, but they will be about what they should, and only you will know whether you can do that.

And that’s what I wanted from them more than anything else. And as time went by, and I learned more about other things, I think it worked a little better, as far as the results.

Why Mind Mapping Software is Important

Mind mapping software is built to assist in the fairly complicated technique of mindmapping. A mind map is a plan employed to depict tips, words, tasks, or other things that are connected to and arranged around a central key phrase, concept or theory. Mind maps are widely-used to shape, categorize, visualize and produce suggestions, and work as a guide in problem solving, making decisions, organization, research, and composing. As you can imagine, creating such a diagram by hand can be overwhelming to the novice mind mapper.

The price of top quality mind mapping software starts at around dollarsignr150, and several mind mapping applications have a free trial version. Two of the most highly regarded and well-liked mind mapping software programs are iMindMap and NovaMind. If you need to get started immediately, one of these 2 will probably fit the bill.

Buzan’s iMindMap is designed by Tony Buzan who many consider the father of mind mapping. An obvious benefit of choosing iMindMap is that you are linked in to Buzan’s techniques and innovations. For those unfamiliar with the process, there is flash movie explaining the concept. There are also a number of flash video tutorials explaining how to use the software. There are three editions of iMindMap: Elements, Professional and Ultimate. The software is compatible with Microsoft Office and OpenOffice.

NovaMind is another excellent example of quality mind mapping software. While you don’t get the Tony Buzan stamp of approval, NovaMind does have some unique features not found in other programs. For instance, NovaMind is one of the only mind mapping software programs with a free layout mode where you can put branches anywhere you like. It also has rainbow coloring, an integrated branch suggestion system, and a special module for screenwriters. NovaMind also comes in three editions: Express, Pro, and Platinum.

The iMindMap and NovaMind mind mapping software both work on the Mac and Windows operating systems. You will find both systems workable and easy to use. The price structure is similar, so your choice will boil down to which features are more important to you as a user.

Prior to deciding to buy any mind mapping software program, just remember to first determine your needs. You should also think about your capacity to pay, and whether you are able to upgrade for a discount within the same group of programs. Once you have recognized your needs you can begin evaluating the different mind mapping systems. Many programs come with a free trial which will significantly aid you in making an educated decision.

Many people who spend the time needed to understand the mind mapping procedure turn out to be lifetime converts. Attempting to try and do the task on paper can be very difficult and time-consuming. Great mind mapping software program will pay for itself in a short time when it comes to saved time and stress.

John Maxwell Quotes

John Calvin Maxwell is a world renown evangelical Christian author, speaker, and pastor with more than 50 books under his name that tackles mainly leadership. His most popular books include The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader: Becoming the Person Others Will Want to Follow.

A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.

A man must be big enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them, and strong enough to correct them.

Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.

Educators take something simple and make it complicated.

Communicators take something complicated and make it simple.

Good executives never put off until tomorrow what they can get someone else to do today.

Leaders must be close enough to relate to others, but far enough ahead to motivate them.

Leadership is influence.

Leadership is not about titles, positions or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.

Learn to say ‘no’ to the good so you can say ‘yes’ to the best.

Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.

If you start today to do the right thing, you are already a success even if it doesn’t show yet.

People buy into the leader before they buy into the vision.

Stay focused instead of getting offended or off track by others.

Policies are many, Principles are few, Policies will change, Principles never do.

Remember, man does not live on bread alone: sometimes he needs a little buttering up.

The greatest day in your life and mine is when we take total responsibility for our attitudes. That’s the day we truly grow up.

The greatest mistake we make is living in constant fear that we will make one.

We choose what attitudes we have right now. And it’s a continuing choice.

Everything begins with a decision. Then, we have to manage that decision for the rest of your life.

Success is…
knowing your purpose in life,
growing to reach your maximum potential, and
sowing seeds that benefit others.

Peter Drucker Quotes

Today I’ve decided to add Peter Drucker quotes to help business leaders succeed. He was a writer, management consultant, and one of the best-known and most widely influential thinkers and writers on the subject of management theory and practice.

Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things.

Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes.

A manager is responsible for the application and performance of knowledge.

Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.

Follow effective action with quiet reflection. From the quiet reflection will come even more effective action.

Knowledge has to be improved, challenged, and increased constantly, or it vanishes.

Accept the fact that we have to treat almost anybody as a volunteer.

Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes… but no plans.

Time is the scarcest resource and unless it is managed nothing else can be managed.

We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.

Checking the results of a decision against its expectations shows executives what their strengths are, where they need to improve, and where they lack knowledge or information.

Company cultures are like country cultures. Never try to change one. Try, instead, to work with what you’ve got.

Innovation is the specific instrument of entrepreneurship. The act that endows resources with a new capacity to create wealth.

Making good decisions is a crucial skill at every level.

Management by objective works – if you know the objectives. Ninety percent of the time you don’t.

Most discussions of decision making assume that only senior executives make decisions or that only senior executives’ decisions matter. This is a dangerous mistake.

The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said.

Most of what we call management consists of making it difficult for people to get their work done.

My greatest strength as a consultant is to be ignorant and ask a few questions.

No institution can possibly survive if it needs geniuses or supermen to manage it. It must be organized in such a way as to be able to get along under a leadership composed of average human beings.

When a subject becomes totally obsolete we make it a required course.

People who don’t take risks generally make about two big mistakes a year. People who do take risks generally make about two big mistakes a year.

Plans are only good intentions unless they immediately degenerate into hard work.

Rank does not confer privilege or give power. It imposes responsibility.

So much of what we call management consists in making it difficult for people to work.

The purpose of a business is to create a customer.

There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.

Suppliers and especially manufacturers have market power because they have information about a product or a service that the customer does not and cannot have, and does not need if he can trust the brand. This explains the profitability of brands.

The productivity of work is not the responsibility of the worker but of the manager.

Executives owe it to the organization and to their fellow workers not to tolerate nonperforming individuals in important jobs.

Few companies that installed computers to reduce the employment of clerks have realized their expectations… They now need more, and more expensive clerks even though they call them ‘operators’ or ‘programmers.’

The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself.

The best way to predict the future is to create it.

The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it, and exploits it as an opportunity.

The most efficient way to produce anything is to bring together under one management as many as possible of the activities needed to turn out the product.

The new information technology… Internet and e-mail… have practically eliminated the physical costs of communications.

The only thing we know about the future is that it will be different.

Today knowledge has power. It controls access to opportunity and advancement.

Trying to predict the future is like trying to drive down a country road at night with no lights while looking out the back window.

Teaching is the only major occupation of man for which we have not yet developed tools that make an average person capable of competence and performance. In teaching we rely on the “naturals,” the ones who somehow know how to teach.
