A Little History on Nail Varnish

Nail varnish has been around for a long time. It did not start as we know it now, but the idea was basically the same in the beginning. To take a look at how nail varnish has developed over the centuries, read through the following.

Nail varnish was used in both ancient Egypt and ancient China to show royalty. Both of these cultures used the color red. Those who wore red on their fingers were part of the royalty of the time, and those who were not royalty were not allowed to wear the color red on their fingers. It was a simple way to show ranking and add beauty all at the same time.

In some places only royalty was allowed to wear the nail varnish. Nobody else was allowed to color their fingernails. This was only true for some places though. There were places where the peasants were allowed to wear some coloring on the fingers, but it had to be very pale so that it didn't stand out like the colors that were worn by the royal class.

As this trend continued throughout the coming centuries, it changed a bit here and there. Before long, everyone was allowed to wear colors on their fingers. Not just those that were extremely pale, but all colors. After this, the process of coloring the tips of the fingers became a much more popular one. The addition of more colors meant that each person could color theirs to fit their preference.

During these times,it was not what we know it to be today. Back then the fingernails were colored using berries or other things that had color to them, and the fingernails were stained with the juices. This was a more complicated process, and took more time than painting the fingernails does today.

During the 1970's the idea for the modern nail varnish was inspired by the invention of the new car paint. After the process of creating a paint for cars that was easily applied came about, that concept was taken and transformed into something for the fingernails. At first it was a crude and basic concept of what we have today, but over the last few decades nail varnish has evolved into what it is now. There is even more progresses being made in this area lately as companies are looking for ways to create greener products. They are now starting to create green nail varnish that has less toxic chemicals in it.

In all, nail varnish has been around for a long while throughout history. With the recent changes that are being made by the companies that produce the products so that they can help keep the environment safe and make the world last longer, it doesn't look like the use of it is going to slow down anytime in the near future. Remember the next time that you paint your nails all the history that is behind that little bottle that is sitting in front of you.

A Little Information on French Nails

There are a number of different nail art designs, but French nails seem to be one of the most popular ones. For those who don't spend a lot of time having their nails done, you may still not know exactly what French nails are. After reading through the following, you should understand nail design and French nails a little better.

First of all, nail design has been around for a very long time. In times long ago those women who had theirs adorned with a color of some kind were of higher class, usually royalty. For both ancient Chinese cultures and ancient Egyptian cultures, the color that was worn by royalty on the ends of the fingers was red. Most peasants were not allowed to wear color on their fingers at all, or if they were it was always something that was very pale so that it did not take attention away from the bright color that was worn by those of higher class.

From the colors that were worn on the ends of the fingers developed, and eventually became the polish or varnish that we know today. French nails do not use polish or varnish to obtain their look. They are false tips that are applied using an adhesive, and they are designed to look like a natural nail. The tips of these are while the area that is over the finger itself has a pink color to it. As previously mentioned, they were designed to look like the natural nail.

There are a number of other nail designs and art that can be worn as well. There are always airbrush techniques that can apply color to the tips of the fingers. Using the technique of airbrushing allows for a lot more detail to be added to the designs and artwork that you get. This means that you can turn your hands into something that is similar to a walking mural.

There are also pre-fabricated designs that you can get. Just as you can have French nails applied professionally or purchase them from the store and apply them yourself, there are also ones that you can purchase at the store that have designs similar to airbrushed ones that you can purchase and apply yourself. For those who are interested in having the designs on their fingertips, but are lacking the money to do it this is the way to go.

French nails are only one specific design that is available for consumers to decorate their fingertips with. Nail designs and color have been used for a long time to show status within a society, or to show class. That is still true now. Those who are of a higher class have the ability to go to have a professional decorate more often, and those who have less money have to work harder to get theirs done at all. It seems that this is going to continue to be a way to politely show your income bracket, but not be flaunting it in the faces of those of less fortune.

Nail Salon Web Design Tips

Growing up as a child in suburban New Jersey, I don't remember seeing any nail salons along the local roads and highways. My mother never mentioned having to go to a nail salon; when she had someplace special to go it was to her regular beautician, who would soak her fingers, remove her cuticles and polish her nails. How do I know this? Well...I was often dragged along with her to many a boring appointment. On occasion, I was bribed with the promise of a toy purchase, afterward.

There is Big Money in Long Fingernails

Today, professional nail care is a huge business. U.S. census data place the nail salon and spa service industry at over $35 billion annually. That figure doesn't include the retail sale of related professional beauty products, which at least accounts for another $7 billion annually.

According to "Nails" magazine, following an industry slump immediately after 9/11, the nail salon industry began growing rapidly again in 2002. By that year there were already more than 368,000 licensed nail technicians in the United States and over 51,000 licensed salons offering nail services to women and men. Today, there are at least 500,000 nail technicians in the United States and Canada alone.

Those who set up shop in the nail salon industry can expect to earn $35,000 in the first year of the business. However, those located in a high-traffic spots can expect to earn up to a six-figure income.

Do More than Just "Scratch" the Surface of Successful Marketing

So what ensures your success as a nail salon operator? Ultimately, it is one's ability to provide excellent services and create high levels of customer satisfaction. Having a good location may even be more critical, though. A high traffic location with good visibility will superbly position you to expose your business to many more new customers.

Please keep in mind that even the best "brick and mortar" location supported by some print ads is only a small part of your overall marketing effort. A quality web presence is also necessary to help with some of the heavy lifting when it comes to gaining significant consumer exposure.

Your website is your 24/7 storefront. It can help you make more sales, generate additional business leads, and display your talent to a much larger audience than you could ever imagine. When customers are looking for a new nail salon close to home, they will probably not find you by searching for your business name. They may not know it yet. But they will almost certainly "Google" you by your business type (nail salon) and location (your town). A search will most likely bring them to your website.

How to Choose an Airbrush and Air Compressor

We call airbrushing a type of art, because in this way you transform your idea and sense of art on whatever material you want. People are getting fascinated by airbrush painting with the fineness and vivid image it presents. But we all know that it's far from easy to create any successful works without regular practice and fine tools. Almost the same as tattoo artists, airbrush artists also need a set of kit and a lot of practice to make themselves a qualified artist, and even a master. But the difference between real tattoo and airbrushing is, there are much more types of applications of airbrushing, and it means more choices of airbrush kit out there, thus more problems for investing an airbrush.

Here we meet a common problem, how to choose an airbrush. Let's start with some simplest questions. What will I airbrush? What medium I need to make that work? How much can I pay for all I need?

You can answer to the first question with no doubt. Airbrushing can be used widely from small personal studios to large workshops. There are various applications of airbrushing. You can use airbrush to put makeup and fake tattoo on human skin, nail art on people's hands, to decorate a cake, paint on a car, or simply draw a picture. They may be entirely different works when they come to practice. So you should choose an airbrush with some specified features that fit the certain work. If you've made sure what you will airbrush, then you can find out or narrow down the choices of the airbrushing kit you want to get.

What are you going to airbrush can also directly effect what medium you want to spray through your airbrush. Let's say, you're airbrushing t shirts, then you can narrow down the choices of medium to airbrush paints. Airbrush paint is usually the most important for craft, textile airbrushing, so it's better to purchase a set of different colors of airbrush paint, separately from an airbrush kit. Most of the paints for textile or craft can be found in craft shops, while the paints for autos should be purchased in automotive stores.

Nail Art Designs - The Endless Possibilities to Get Your Nails Done

The nail art designs of today have come a long way from the one color application of the past. Today the sky's the limit with these accessories that people call fingernails. These can be dazzled up at a salon or even at home. There are plenty of supplies available in stores for home beautification of your own fingernails. They can be designed to match any outfit and for all holidays.

Hand-painted artwork is very simple to do. Most people find they can add flowers to fingernails with little difficulty. The background is best if it is a pale color with the petals on the flower being a much brighter color.

The center can be a lighter shade than the petals and the entire design can be added with the nail polish brush. You may need to have a friend help you out if you can only paint with your dominant hand. Salons will perform this flower creation for you for somewhere between 5 and 10 dollars.

There has been numerous times when you've woken up to find the imprint of your sheets in your nails, but now it is fashionable. Many people are adding texture to damp nails with objects around the house. If it isn't an imprint you are looking for, but a unique design, try adding a swirl with two paints. Paint the brighter color on the nail first and before it dries to add some cream or white drops with a toothpick. Use the toothpick to swirl with the two colors together. This may take a while to dry, due to the thickness.

The technique of airbrushing on designs is available at salons and can be done at home as well, if you own an airbrushing machine. It's a lot easier and cheaper to go to the salon to have this done. It only takes a short amount of time to spray on a design. Some add-ons that are easy to apply are decals, piercing, or rhinestones. These can be added on top of a fresh coat of paint. Rhinestones are either stuck into the wet paint or adhered to the nail with a special glue.

There are two types of decals that can be added to fingernails; decals that use water to stick them on and ones that require rubbing. Both are on a sheet of paper that has many other decals on it.

The decal of choice is cut out of the paper and placed on the nail, decal side down. The back of the decal is then either wet or rubbed, depending on the method needed. After this process, the paper is removed and the decal is stuck into place on the fingernail.

Fingernail piercings aren't painful, since they are only in the tip of the fingernail itself. They can either be a hoop or a stud, but no matter which kind you choose, remember not to get them caught in your hair. Nail art designs can be added for any occasion, holiday, or just for a change of pace. The limits are non-existent with the nail designs of today.
