How would you like to get
toned, shapely arms, shoulders and chest without having to use
awkward, bulky weights or get a gym membership? Here’s how
- the brand new Flex Shaper Workout; a light, portable
piece of exercise equipment that is incredibly versatile and
takes up no space at all in your home.
Traditionally, toning up your arms, chest, shoulders and back involved working out with dumbbells or being forced to become a member of a gym to use the resistance machines.
But with resistance machines, you need to get on a different one each time for different muscles, so you’d have to spend time using a shoulder press to shape your shoulders, bicep and tricep machines for your arms and a pec deck for your upper body.
You’d probably have to queue up for them as well, meaning going to the gym becomes incredibly time-consuming. And it costs such a lot to become a gym member; hard-earned dollars, which are completely wasted if you don’t have time!
Working out at home has always seemed to me the best solution, but of course you need equipment. Hand weights are useful but are awkward to store and also only work in one direction; the “up” part of the movement, so you need to do more reps of your exercise to work the muscle – more time involved.
But the new FlexShaper Workout will change all that! The Flex Shaper is carefully designed by experts to deliver double the workout in the same amount of time – your muscles have to work both to squeeze the Flex Shaper in and then to control the release - that’s double the workout and double the results in the same amount of time. And as well as your upper body, the Flex Shaper even works your inner thighs, for beautiful legs you will be proud of!
And don’t worry, Ladies; working out with the Flex Shaper will not produce bulky, chunky muscles, but sleek, toned limbs that everyone will envy. Just imagine showing off your shapely shoulders, beautiful back and toned arms in your new strapless dress – the one you didn’t dare wear before because of the batwings hanging from your upper arms!
The Flex Shaper is brand new and it’s on offer at the moment for just two payments of $19.99 (plus shipping and handling) – that’s a third off the usual price – but hurry as this offer is limited to the first 500 people who order.
And as part of this special offer you also get the neat Flex Shaper carry bag – and that’s not all! Order today and you’ll get the Flex Shaper DVD Workout, Exercise Chart and 7-Day Weight Loss Guide as well as a Meal Planner to kick-start your new fitness plan and get you on the way to having the trim, toned body you’ve always longed for.
I love exercise tools like the Flex Shaper that you can use at home or anywhere to get gym-quality results in less time and for a fraction of the price.

Flex Shaper Reviews – Flex Your Way to Shapelier
Arms
Another Christmas has come and gone and if you’re
anything like me you’ve ditched all of the fitness principles you
so carefully worked on for 11 months of last year and done
precious little exercise, along with eating like a pig throughout
December.
And you’re now feeling the pinch – of your pants that is – being slightly too snug round the waist line. And you’ve also hit the awful realisation that It Isn’t Christmas; It’s Monday. But don’t despair, throw yourself off the roof or reach for the cookie jar – read on about how to get the body of your dreams in 2010. After All, Tomorrow Is Another Day.
(You can tell I’ve gone loco when I start quoting from all the old movies I watched over Christmas instead of exercising!)
The one exciting thing about this dull, grey time of the year is that there is usually some new exercise product on the market, and it’s the perfect time to start on your resolution to slim down, tone up and help yourself to a better life.
A very recent product that has just caught my eye and fired me up is the brand new Iso Bo Body Pro System which has been developed and patented by a duo based in Hollywood who specialise in Martial Arts training and Pilates; now there’s an interesting combination!
The Iso Bo looks very straightforward when you first see it, but has hidden depths. I’m always mega-enthusiastic about any product that is portable, durable and has more than one function, and Iso Bo ticks every box and is a realistic price too. Shaped like a flat bar with handle grips at each end, it can be pulled, pushed, held, lifted and bent to target every major muscle group in your body.
At first glance it resembles the former Bullworker which was popular many aeons ago when I was young. At that time the Bullworker was marketed towards hulking men with bulging muscles, but now the benefits of building and toning muscle is known to all, not just male exercisers. Women are now much more educated regarding exercise, and know that they won’t develop bulky muscles if they use strength equipment – on the contrary, they will burn buckets of fat while toning muscles to a sleek and beautiful shape.
As soon as you start to use the Iso Bo you will feel it start to work, because as soon as you move any of the handles, it creates tension in your muscles, and your core must also work to maintain your posture. This means you can change the position of the Iso Bo and strengthen your core whilst specifically targeting any part of your body that you want to — think of toning up those floppy underarms, those droopy shoulder and chest muscles, and tightening and trimming your legs, abs and butt.
And that’s before you even try any of the Pilates exercises. And the more muscles you use, the more calories you burn at the same time. Add some cardio workouts like brisk walking, cycling or swimming every week and in just a month you will begin to notice the difference in your body, as your fat melts away to reveal the new shapely you. And you’ll feel so much better — more energised, more alert and more prepared than ever before to face whatever life throws at you.
The ingenious Iso Bo comes complete with a lifetime replacement guarantee, two sets of resistance bands, a neat carry bag and two DVDs featuring Martial Arts expert Harry Mok and celebrity Pilates Trainer Kim Lees. You also get a Simply Slimmer diet guide devised by celebrity nutritionist Christine Avanti, plus an at-a-glance pictorial guide to all the exercises. All this comes to you at a very reasonable price of $99.99 (plus $14.95 S&H) although there is also an optional 30 day Free Trial.
It’s never too late to get the body of your dreams, and the Iso Bo will help you on your way.

After much begging and
pleading from my clients I’m going to bite the bullet and create
my own Pilates product.
After reviewing one Pilates For Beginners program after another I can’t find one that I’d recommend for complete beginners. Sure there are thousands of different books and DVD’s on the market many of them written by some of the current Pilates superstars but none of them really suitable for a complete beginner.
They all assume some Pilates knowledge and aren’t a complete Pilates program. The books are difficult to understand and I don’t know anyone who could learn and apply the correct form from a book alone. The DVD’s are great but how can you perform a Pilates exercise whilst watching the TV?
What’s required is a product that has written instructions, video showing how to perform the exercises and an audio track you can use to sequence the workout.
I’m in the middle of creating such a product which will be a monthly subscription program that month by month will teach you all you need to know to be able to learn Pilates at home and get well known benefits safely and effectively.
If you would like to learn more about my Pilates For Beginners program please click the link and discover for yourself how learning Pilates at home could be easier than you think.

Pilates For Beginners
If you’re
looking for a piece of home equipment that is inexpensive and
easy to store and will help you target your abs, then the
Ab Rocket is a good buy. Costing under
$100, the Ab Rocket will get you up off the floor and give you
some back and neck support while you tone your abs.
I have read mixed reviews about the Ab Rocket, but my own thoughts on the subject are that if you use it properly, you will get results. People have complained that they sat on it and got into a crunch position and it hasn’t helped them on the upward phase of the crunch. Well it’s not supposed to! The padded rollers are there to give your back and neck some support; the crunch itself is to be done by your abdominal muscles.
Let me put it this way: (quick anatomy lesson here). When people refer to their abs, they are usually talking about their six-pack; this is the Rectus Abdominis and is a set of muscles that stretches from your lowest ribs to your pubic bone. To be pedantic, it’s actually the other way round; they start at your pubic bone and finish at your ribs. Call me an anorak!
The function of your six-pack is actually to bend you forward at the waist. Working your six-pack alone will not particularly change your shape; what you need to concentrate on are the other muscles in the core area, most importantly the muscles beneath your six-pack which go around your midriff like a girdle.
It is working these correctly that will flatten your stomach and change your shape; you will only get a visible six-pack if you have hardly any body fat. This girdle of muscles around your waist is called TVA (Transversus Abdominis). I like to refer to this as Nature’s Corset; tone up these muscles and you will pull in your whole midriff creating that lovely hourglass shape that we all desire.
I will get to the point here in a second; please don’t go to sleep just yet! The point in all this is, you need to learn how to do a good abdominal crunch in order to get results and the Ab Rocket will put you in a position where you can get your crunches right. The Ab Rocket supports your neck and back so that you can actually concentrate on your midriff instead of trying to haul your neck and shoulders up as in a conventional crunch, which only makes them ache.
The padded rollers of the Ab Rocket support your back; as you crunch upwards, pull in your belly button as if your pants were too tight and you will feel the crunch in exactly the right area. The Ab Rocket also allows you to lift your knees and do a reverse crunch, thus targeting the lower abdominals as well.
All in all, I think the Ab Rocket is a useful and inexpensive piece of exercise equipment that can and will - if used correctly - give you great tone and bulge reduction in your waist area without putting any strain on your neck and back.
Try The Ab Rocket for 30 days risk-free!
Question:
Will the Malibu Pilates Chair challenge me? I’m
a regular exerciser and consider myself fairly fit.
Answer: Yes the Malibu Pilates Chair will challenge you but how much is entirely up to you. Pilates is all about performing the exercises in good form using controlled and precise movements. Precise movements done correctly and slowly with the right muscles engaged are part of what makes Pilates so effective and challenging.
If you just start throwing yourself about (like I see in a lot of aerobics classes) you will not get the full benefit of the Pilates chair and you will increase your chances of picking up an injury.
If you have already done some basic Pilates Matwork, that is great; if not, the Malibu Pilates Chair is still perfect for you, but take the exercises slowly and concentrate on the correct form - using your muscles properly and always remembering to align your spine. And never hold your breath!
Once you have developed some core, pelvic, shoulder and lower body stability, you can attempt to do the more advanced exercises safely.
Rome was not built in a day; exercise carefully and think about what you are doing, and the Malibu Pilates Chair will help you develop the toned body you desire.

I’m getting a lot of
mail asking me if the Kettleworx workout works.
I’m assuming they mean will it help me lose weight (fat).
Although I’m in danger of repeating myself (it’s my blog so I can
if I want)
the answer would have to be yes, the
Kettleworx system does work.
But - you knew there had to be a but you so could also get results running on the spot while carrying a tin of baked beans in each hand!
The advantage of systems like Kettleworx or The Firm Wave is that they gives your workouts structure. They show you exactly what you need to do at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. You are also shown how to do the exercises safely and in good form which is important if you want to avoid injury.
As a fitness professional I really don’t care what exercise you do (although you can get faster results by picking the right workout) I just want you to do something. Pick a product that you like and use it regularly and I promise you will get results.
Just don’t give up and remember weight loss, getting fit and feeling good requires a lot of small changes over a long period of time. Don’t aim for 4lbs a week instead be happy with 1/2 - 1lb at that rate you’ll be able to live a little and lose a little the best of both worlds.
Good luck and remember if you don’t enjoy your workouts you won’t do them!
All the best,
Robert E Bartram

If you want to
train at home and you’d like it to be able to work your abs to
make the sleek and sexy without hurting either your bank balance
or your back muscles, then look no further than the Ab Rocket which is easy to set up and use, and
convenient enough to quickly store in the closet after your
workout.
The problem with most abdominal exercises is that they are done lying on the floor. This puts your back into a vulnerable position as you have to work against gravity to lift yourself up into a crunch. This can easily cause a vicious circle as, if your abs initially are not strong enough to lift you, the strain will go into your back, and your abs will not get strong enough to lift you unless they can be properly engaged.
To recruit the correct abdominal muscles is not easy and requires separate training in itself. If you are new to exercising it is almost certain that you will not know how to use your muscles correctly and would need an instructor standing over you to tell you exactly which muscle to contract and where you should feel it.
Without a trainer, the list of instructions needed to do an abdominal crunch correctly is almost a page long, and makes performing a safe and effective crunch sound as complicated as learning to drive a double-decker bus!
The problem with ab exercises done on the floor is that most beginners simply try to haul their head and shoulders up using brute force and start tugging on their head and neck. All the strain is promptly absorbed by the long muscles in the lower back, causing back pain and possible injury.
Not tightening the core muscles before you commence will mean that the exercise is performed by other muscles which were not made to work in this way by nature, and there is a distinct possibility that you will pull a muscle in your lower back or maybe even cause damage to your spine.
The Ab Rocket will solve all these problems with one stroke, getting you off the mat and into a comfortable sitting position where your back is supported all the way from the base of your spine right up to the top of your head. The firm, padded rollers support your back and massage your muscles while affording you protection from back injury.
In this position, when you lean back and crunch upwards, your back is carefully supported; not to the extent that the exercise is done for you, but enough to relax the back and put the focus of the exercise squarely back where it belongs - into your abdominals.

Ab Rocket Reviews - Avoiding Injury
When I am
asked if the Ab Rocket Exercise will work in taking inches
off the stomach, then my answer is always yes. It will help
you if you use it. Not on its own, but combine it with
other regular exercise and sensible eating plan, and it will
certainly help. The Ab Rocket claims to tone your abs and waist,
while taking all the strain off your back, and this can only be a
good thing, as working your abs incorrectly will definitely
result in back strain.
The Ab Rocket looks like a low deckchair with padded rollers at the back; the idea is that you sit on it, lean backwards and then crunch upwards to get the flexion needed to work the main abdominal muscles. The back of the Ab Rocket will support your spine and your neck, which means that you aren’t likely to hurt them like you would do if you were lying on the floor performing crunches.
Doing crunches correctly to target the six-pack seems to be the Holy Grail of exercises for most people, but the quality of ab exercises that I see people doing every day makes me cringe. The most important part in any abdominal exercise is to engage all your deep core muscles before you perform your crunch, otherwise you will simply teach your abs to poke outwards; they will get strong all right but they will bulge even worse than before!
The Ab Rocket gets you up off the floor and makes it easy for you to engage the right muscles, and as you become more proficient, you can increase the resistance and you can also turn onto your side and target your love handles and your waist -again, the Ab Rocket will support your neck.
Unlike the lot of other personal trainers, I quite like the Ab Rocket; I am of the school of thought that maintains that anything that is more likely to make you exercise without hurting you is a good thing. The Ab Rocket is compact and easily folded — easy to set up and equally easy to store away, saving precious time during your day. So although you may not get the visible, chiselled abs that the models in the infomercial have, by using the Ab Rocket regularly and combining it with other exercises and a reduced calorie diet, you can indeed make a big difference, both to your waistline and to your general fitness levels.
Used regularly, as detailed above, your Ab Rocket results should start to show within a month; even if your weight doesn’t not drop significantly - remember, muscle is heavier than fat - your waistband should be less tight and you’ll be starting to see results in other parts of your body also. And you’ll feel a lot better, too.
Try The Ab Rocket for 30 days risk-free!

The Ab Rocket Review – Does it work?
I’m
always on the lookout for innovative exercise equipment which
enables you to keep up your fitness anywhere without having to go
to the gym or even leave the house, and recently I’ve come across
the TRX Suspension System. Like all the
best home fitness equipment this is simple and non-gimmicky and
can be fitted easily to a door frame, and you can also get a kit
along with it so you can even fix it up to a ceiling or wall in
your home.
What piqued my interest with the TRX fitness trainer is the latest fitness idea that seems to be sweeping the nation at present - learning circus skills. This may seem ridiculous and way out of the reach of everyday exercisers, but circus performers rank among the fittest and best conditioned athletes in the world.
All you have to do is go and watch the Cirque Du Soleil to marvel at what these athletes can do - especially the trapeze performers. Working with trapezes works your entire body; your core strength needs to be absolutely gobsmacking, and the strength of your arms, shoulders, back and chest need to be pretty spectacular too! Legs, thighs and butts are not forgotten either, making any kind of circus-based workout perfect for your whole body.
Now, I’m not saying we should all start swinging around on trapezes - not practical to the vast majority of us - but the TRX fitness programme takes in a lot of these principles and makes them possible for everyday exercise. With TRX fitness exercises you use heavy duty elasticated straps with handles to add resistance to exercises, and the accompanying video shows you how to do around 300 exercises encompassing all parts of the body. You can hold the straps with your hands and do resisted bicep curls, rows and similar leaning backwards; lean forwards and you can use the straps like a pec deck - you try it – it’s really challenging!
As the length of the straps is adjustable, you can bring them close to floor level and put your feet in the handles to do press ups. As your weight is balanced mainly on your hands, your core has to work much harder than it usually does. The harder the whole body works, the more calories you burn, the more muscles you tone at one time, and the shorter your workouts need to be. So using the TRX Suspension System means you’ll get great full-body results and have time to go to the circus as well!
Another
Infomercial has caught my attention The
Ketleworx. As I love reviewing this type of
equipment I’ve ordered one and when I receive it I’ll be posting
a complete review.
On the face of it it looks like a fantastic idea. Kettlebells have been around for a number of years and do give great results if you stick with them.
My only reservation on this type of exercise is that for the average out of condition person it can be not only challenging but down right dangerous. If the exercises are not done in good form it’s easy to injure yourself.
I would say it all depends on the quality of the instruction in the supplied DVDs. As long as they are progressive and start at a fairly basic level it should be perfectly safe.
I’m excited about this product because I think it has the potential to be a great fat burner and will enable you to get great results in a short space of time.
If you were to combine this workout with the Firm Wave or T-Bow your results could be even faster!
Watch this space as soon as it arrives I’ll give you my opinion.
All the best,
Carol J Bartram
(Personal Trainer & Pilates Instructor
The Total Gym has
been around for many years and always was a first class piece of
home exercise equipment. Most people will have seen it advertised
on the infomercial channels being used by Chuck Norris and Christie
Brinkley.
The Ab Circle
Pro, like all other pieces of home fitness equipment, will work
for you if you use it on a regular basis and as part of a
lifestyle change. For optimum health, weight loss and
toning, you will need to do other exercise as well as using the
Ab Circle Pro and, very importantly, you will
need to take a long hard look at what you are eating and how much
of it you are eating. Remember, it is perfectly possible to
get fat on healthy food if you’re eating mammoth portions of it.
For my clients who love to snack, I recommend healthy snacks such
as Brazil nuts, full of minerals and high in protein but also
high in calories - a handful day is quite enough!
The Ab Circle Pro is billed as a treadmill for your abs and combines cardio exercise with abdominal toning. This is a good addition to any exercise schedule, but must be combined with other types of exercise such as walking, swimming or cycling and also muscle toning exercises like lunges and squats. The more toned muscle you have on your body, the better it will look and the more calories you will burn, even when you’re watching the TV or lying in bed.
Like most other people in the 40 plus age group I have to watch my weight and make an effort to get enough exercise, so as well as exercising at home I go to a Step class at the gym once a week. I’ve been going to this class for around three months now and am still only at a beginner level in Step because I’m absolutely hopeless when it comes to left and right; unless the instructor points out the direction, you can guarantee that I will step with the wrong leg, or go the opposite way and be facing in the opposite direction from the rest of the class.
The instructor, having known me and my peculiarities for years, adds loads of arm waving, just for me. She looks like she’s guiding a fighter plane in to land while yelling “Knee lift, left! Not that left, Carol – your other left!” The first time I attended this class, I really felt the burn and my legs ached for two days afterwards.
Now, after three months, I still get the benefits of a good toning and cardio workout, but the burn is far less and I don’t get the muscle soreness. My muscles have adapted and become capable of coping. Ideally I should change classes to challenge my body further – maybe I should try something like Latino-American Salsa HipHop. Oh help.
These days, I
think the major obstacle to exercising regularly is lack of time.
So if I ever see good workout ideas that can be done in a short
space of time, I jump on them. One of these is the new
KettleworX exercise system, which offers varied
workouts done using a kettlebell.
Looking like a metal ball with a handle, the kettlebell can be held in one or both hands for swinging, squatting and lifting exercises. A 5lb kettlebell comes with the package – perfect for women. You men go and get your own! (10lb and 20lb kettlebells are also available).
In our modern world there is no lack of ideas and facilities for getting enough exercise. Joining a gym or health club is a great idea, but by the time you’ve got there, got changed, done your cardio on the treadmill, full body workout on all the fixed machines, cooled down, stretched, showered and changed, you’re looking at around two hours. Now, I don’t know about you, but I haven’t got that much time to spare!
And for maximum calorie burn and shaping your body, you have to combine cardio (pulse-raising exercise) with strength exercises. In the gym, these are separate; you do your cardio on the treadmill or the cross trainer or the rower and then move on to individual machines for each body part – thighs, chest shoulders, arms and so on. Even just doing 2 sets of 15 reps on each machine takes forever, and the worst thing is that it’s not the best way to exercise. Machines lock you into position and isolate the muscle to be used, which means the rest of the body doesn’t have to work at all, so you waste time and don’t get as good results as you would if you worked your muscles freestanding.
The thing about
machines is that, even if you are an absolute novice and you
don’t know what you’re doing, you can’t get it wrong. You sit on
the seat and follow the pictures on the front of the machine – so
you’re safe and you will get some exercise. People feel
happy with that; most people I know don’t like exercising with
free weights because they’ve no idea what they’re doing. In fact,
some of them are downright dangerous to themselves and to others!
The idea behind KettleworX is to change all that. With the KettleworX package you get 10 - yes 10 - DVDs with lots of short workouts on them. Some of the DVDs are for cardio and general toning combined, and some are specifically aimed at toning your chest, back and so on. You are shown how to use your kettlebell safely and effectively for maximum inch loss and calorie burn — it’s like having a Personal Trainer standing over you while you exercise.
Compared with most exercise systems, KettleworX is amazing value. For $89.95 you get the 10 DVDs, a healthy eating guide (of course) and a five pound kettlebell — all you need to get started straight away in your own home. The course promises results in six weeks; if you do these workouts I think you will definitely get great results.
The infomercial burbles happily about how good you will look naked (rather odd selling point, but hey, there you go.) I’ll settle for looking good fully clothed! But I agree with the KettleworX team that the changes to your body will amaze you, no matter how out of condition you are, and age doesn’t matter, although it’s always wise to get a check-up from your health professional before embarking on any course of exercise.
Working with a kettlebell, with no gym machine to support you,
every muscle in your entire body has to start doing its job
properly! The more muscles you use, the more calories you
burn. The more muscles you use, the more you tone in a
quicker time. So try KettleWorx for great results -
fast!

Every now and again I come across piece of
exercise equipment that is so good that it makes me do a little
dance of delight. Well today is the day!
It’s the day of the The Ab Circle Pro
This piece of equipment is brand new on the market and I believe it’s going to be a real hit! The Ab Circle Pro combines Cardio exercise with abdominal exercise to burn fat and toned sleek trimmed abs - all at the same time! Imagine being able to work your abs at the same time as burning lots of calories - that is every exerciser’s dream, certainly among all the clients that I have come across.
The problem with traditional Ab exercises is that they don’t combine a fat-burning element. Also, most Ab exercises are done lying on the floor which isn’t ideal. Traditional Ab Crunches, if they are not done absolutely correctly, will only hurt your back and will not help your abs. I seem to spend my life trying to teach people to do Crunches correctly!
The main problem with Ab Crunches happens when people push their abdominals outwards during the Crunch instead of sucking them in. Pushing your abs out when you crunch will indeed make them stronger, but will make them bulge outwards instead of flatten — exactly the opposite of what we want to happen! And if I tell my novice clients to pull their tummy button down as they crunch up they hold their breath and start to go blue!
The Ab Circle Pro deals with these problems in a very clever way. The Ab Circle Pro can be set up in seconds, getting you off the floor and putting your abdominals in a perfect position to be toned - there is no question of your abdominals being pushed outwards as the Ab Circle Pro works your abs as you swing from side to side. Think of the Ab Circle Pro as a treadmill for your abs!
The makers of the Ab Circle Pro claim that you can lose 10lbs in two weeks, guaranteed, or they will refund your money. Usually, I fall off my chair laughing when I read these claims, but in this case I really believe it could be true — this is a fast-track way to sculpt great abs, banish the pooch and get a fantastic trim waistline. You are up off the floor and your neck and back are in a perfect position — no more neck pain from doing crunches!
The Ab Circle Pro is made of gym quality steel to last a lifetime. There are three levels of resistance to make your workouts tougher as you get stronger and trimmer. The unique, patented friction-free track means that you glide smoothly from side to side working those abs and burning as many calories as jogging on a treadmill.
Your spine and neck are in line (every Pilates Instructor’s
dream) and the handgrips are sturdy and padded making you feel
safe and secure. In this position you also get the benefits of a
chest, shoulder and arm workout - an added bonus! You can try the
Ab Circle Pro for 30 days in the comfort of your own home for
just $14.95, or buy outright at the great value price of just
$199.75 (plus shipping and handling). So if you want to lose
those love handles, banish those bulges and send that pooch
packing, try
The Ab Circle Pro today.
