However, not everyone will be satisfied with only a promise of better chances of conceiving a girl baby they want – they will seek out medical help and are willing to pay for guaranteed results that gender selection methods can bring.
Gender selection methods of conceiving a baby girl, or – how can science and medicine help you get a gender you want! If you decide to try medical gender selection methods, it is important to make an informed decision on the possibilities of assisted gender selection in fertility clinics! How much will the gender selection procedure cost, and what are the chances for gender selection program working?
You may want a baby of a particular gender hard enough to undergo extensive and sometimes invasive medical procedures, but are you prepared to shell out a good amount of money in the process?
Before you put yourself in the hands of doctors who specialize in gender selection, you has to be familiar with their actual success percentages. How accurate are medical gender selection methods and is success really guaranteed?
There are many medical gender selection methods you can try in a number of fertility clinics in the States and in some countries abroad.
Ericsson method was developed in mid seventies by a geneticist Ronald Ericsson. It is one of the sperm sorting methods and involves in vitro fertilization. It is not so expensive ($2000) in comparison with other gender selection methods, but success rates are also not so high when comparing to others. Chances of Ericsson method working? About 78%-85% if you’re trying for a baby boy, or about 73%-75% if you’re trying for a baby girl.
MicroSort is a brand name for another sperm sorting method of gender selection. Its success rates are higher, but so is the cost ($3000 per treatment, but can go up to $12000 extra). Success rates are higher for conceiving girls (90% success rate), than boys. That means that in 1 case out of 10, you’ll get a boy baby.
Remember that MicroSort involves in vitro fertilization (IVF). Chances of IVF procedure working are only around 35%. Artificial insemination pregnancy success rate is only around 15%.
Pre-implantation genetic diagnosisis (PGD) is the only almost 100% accurate gender selection method. It’s very costly (about $15000) and often results in multiples.
100% gender selection program is reality. It has certainly nothing to do with myths, old wives’ tales and superstitions about baby’s gender. With the help of advanced reproductive science and technology, true gender selection is within the reach for, essentially, all of us – who are ready to pay for it. Getting pregnant using procedures with cryptic sounding acronyms – like IVF and PGD, in a fertility clinic, virtually guarantees you get the gender you wanted nine months later.
The Fertility Institute is an American fertility clinic with its own IVF laboratory based in Los Angeles, and with offices in Las Vegas and Guadalajara, Mexico. They work with many smaller fertility clinics and fertility specialists worldwide.
The clinic is renewed for its gender selection program.
They offer gender selection not only for those couples who suffer from some form of a genetic disorder that strikes only one gender, and therefore are choosing to have a child of a certain gender, but to all couples wishing to balance their family or otherwise strongly feel the need to have a baby of a particular gender.
They offer their services to all, without regard to race, creed, ethnic origin or sexual orientation.
If you’re coming from out of town, they can help you make travel arrangements.
Of course, all procedures are completely confidential, all medical records video monitored 24 hours a day, duplicated on secure servers, and double locked in secure offices.
Financing is also available.
At head at The Fertility Institutes is a pioneer in the field of assisted reproduction and a world renowned fertility specialist, Dr Steinberg. His staff consists of PhD scientists with specializations in embryology.
The Fertility Institutes has provided thousands of successful gender selection services in over 142 countries.
They have the world’s most larger and successful gender selection program. They believe that anyone can get pregnant, and that’s what they are successfully assisting parents to do the world over!
Many gender selection techniques for a girl ask the question: when is the best time to conceive to give birth to a baby girl nine months later?
But, Italian scientists went a step further in discovering there’s one month in a year that – if you conceive in that month – will make you more likely to have a daughter!
Your chances to get pregnant with a girl baby are better if you conceive in one particular month in the year!
Armed with birth data ranging for a decade, Italian researchers studied the sex ratio of babies born in different times of the year.
It turns out, there is uneven number of male and female babies being born depending on the time of season. In summer, more boys than girls were being born meaning that the babies conceived in, particularly, the month of October are more likely to be of male sex.
Scientists speculate that the reason for this is the relative fragility of boys, so nature intended to help their chances of surviving by not being born in harsh winter months.
The winter time is the time girls are born! Note that, however, generally speaking, there are less babies being born in the winter months overall. Conception rates between March and May are lower than they would be in the autumn.
And the answer to the question in the headline? It’s April. Now, isn’t that a great name for a girl?
So you already have boys and want to conceive a baby girl to have a more balanced family, or you want to avoid some hereditary illnesses that strike only baby boys?
Maybe you’ve already tried other baby gender selection methods and they just didn’t work, or you’re planning on having only one child?
While natural gender selection methods are not without their merits, such as being free or low cost, relatively easy and uninvolved, and there’s generally no harm in trying them – they are often without any scientific ground and as such hard to distinguish from simply myths and old wives’ tales. For instance, while eating specific foods to conceive a girl baby might have some grain of truth in it – astrology or Chinese gender calendar have not. At least, science is not admitting it, currently.
If you don’t want to – or can’t – use natural (read: unreliable) methods of conceiving a baby girl, today’s reproductive science has a lot to offer.
Scientific methods to conceive a baby girl have been tested for years now, and they are your best shot for having the gender you want for your baby, guaranteed.
Scientific medical baby gender selection techniques include:
Microsort and Ericsson method of gender selection are sperm sorting methods.
Microsort is the brand name for Flow cytometry technique that allows gender selection by separating the boy and girl sperm.
Since X chromosome in sperm that makes girls is bigger and heavier because it contains more DNA material, when colored with the fluorescent dye and observed under the laser, it glows brighter than its counterpart.
To conceive a baby girl, mostly girl sperm is collected and subsequently injected into the mother in the hopes of conception.
Why “mostly”?
It’s because boy and girl sperm cannot be sorted out completely.
The only gender selection method that is 100% accurate is PGH – Preimplantation Genetic Haplotyping.
With this gender selection method, you are virtually guaranteed to have a baby girl!
But… only if you do become pregnant, because it is used only in IVF procedures. And, it is very pricey.
With PGD – Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis ( Preimplantation Genetic Testing) method, you also have high chances (99%) of conceiving the baby gender of your choice.
How this works?
They take an egg (from a mother) and the sperm (from a father) and they study them in a laboratory to tell which gender their embryo is.
When they determine the gender, the embryo of the selected gender is implanted into the mother’s uterus.
It’s surely a gender selection method that’s invasive, expensive and – effective.
We have already talked about the other sperm sorting method, the Ericsson method.
The sperm is spun in a centrifuge at a high speed to separate the
two kinds of sperm, using the fact that the X chromosome is
heavier than Y chromosome, so it tends to fall at the bottom of
the test tube. The “girl sperm” is then collected, and inserted
into the mother’s uterus via intra uterine insemination. This
gives you a chance to conceive only a baby
girl.
While this gender selection method is in use since the 1970′s, some say there’s no clinical proof that spin (gradient) method can separate the two kinds of sperm enough to allow results that are any more accurate than conceiving the natural way.
Some companies using the spin (gradient) method claim however an 80 percent success rate.
Old wives’ tales about baby gender aside, there actually exists some official data regarding your chances to get pregnant with a girl baby.
And it’s nothing less authoritative than the document issued by the USA Census Bureau!
Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been examining the ratio of boys and girls born in the USA for the last sixty years. Its findings are published in a report Trend Analysis of the Sex Ratio at Birth in the United States, bringing some surprising facts and conclusions about what may influence the gender being born.
Since 1940, there were more baby boys being born every year than baby girls, with the sex birth ratio being the highest in 1946 and the lowest in 1991 and 2001. It was already noticed that after wars there were more boys being born than in the periods of peace. In recent times, there are fewer boys than girls being born throughout the western world.
But generally talking, for every 100 baby girls, there are about 105 baby boys.
What the data about the age structure of the mothers is telling us? The older the mother is, the more likely she will give birth to a daughter. 15-19 year old mothers have the highest sex birth ratio.
What about the nationally of mothers in regards to sex ratio? The highest differences between the number of boys and girl being born were noticed in Chinese and Filipino mothers. Non-Hispanic black and American Indian mothers had the lowest sex ratios.
First time mothers and mothers with other children? The more children a woman has, the more likely she is going to give birth to an equal number of boys and girls.
We know how the gender is chosen (in 1959 the sex chromosomes are discovered) but still don’t know exactly how it is done.
P.S. I’ve found an online test that predicts your probability of getting pregnant with a boy or a girl baby in percentages. According to this test, I’ve got a 20% chance of conceiving a boy in the following months, and, consequently – a 80% chance of getting pregnant with a girl baby.
It looks like the test is based on scientific facts about female dominance as measured by testosterone levels and the resulting sex ratio. I have already posted about the scientific findings that show how low testosterone women have more girls. You’re supposed to self assess your temperament – and then, that personal characteristics somehow translate in having a low or high testosterone. A (prospective) father can complete this test, too.

This morning, media are abuzz with the news of France first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy (43), giving birth to a daughter!
Nicolas Sarkozy allegedly had flown back from euro talks in Germany to see his newborn daughter, only spending half an hour with his wife at the hospital before heading back to Angela Merkel.
The baby girl was delivered Wednesday night at the private clinic in the chic 16th arrondissement of Paris. The whole area is packed with police and paparazzi.
The first child for the couple, this baby girl is also the first infant born to a serving French president.
The baby arrived three weeks late. Rumor are spreading via Twitter that she is to be named Dhalia.
Former supermodel, now equally successful as a folk singer/songwriter, Carla already has a son from a former relationship. For the French president, this is the forth child, after having three almost grown up sons.
The Elysee Palace has said it will not make any announcement because the pregnancy is a private family matter.
