Real Wedding ~ Keri and Brian

With so many details packed into Keri and Brian's wedding day, we couldn't wait to share their wedding photographed by Christina Carroll Photography and planned by Creative Consultants. Keri's parents have a beautiful backyard at their Burnet, TX home where Keri and Brian chose to marry, designing an event in a vibrant palette of colorful blooms. Keri wore a stunning strapless fitted gown with unique textured detailing that she paired with a pair of ornate silver sandals, while Brian wore a black three piece suit with black necktie and single white blossom as his boutonniere. The ceremony took place outside where mahogany garden chairs lined the aisleway adorned with cobalt sashes tied in bows with fuchsia and sunkist orange roses tucked into the center. Gorgeous white wrought iron chandeliers hung from the trees above the table of photos that greeted guests as they entered the ceremony space. Colorful floral petals of sunkist orange, fuchsia and poppy decorated the aisleway as a trio of flower girls walked down wearing sweet Champagne dresses and leafy garland halos as they carried baskets covered in greenery. Keri made her way down the aisle carrying an all white bouquet of lush blooms and stood beneath the vine and leaf adorned arbor where she met her groom and exchanged vows.

The spectacular palette of poppy, sunkist orange, fuchsia and fresh green continued into the reception where every surface was covered by gorgeous blooms in the wedding day colors. The reception took place in a large white framed tent on the lawn, which featured sunkist orange draped panels along the outskirts of the tent and an abundance of white Chinese lanterns above the dance floor. A mixture of long family style tables and round guest tables were situated around the tent and dressed in crisp white linens with floral arrangements featuring a variety of blooms including tulips, hydrangea, roses, peonies and orchids, some with beta fish swimming in the vases. Lounge seating was created on one end of the tent with low square couches accented with a punch of color with pillows in pink and a yellow-orange hue. Small cocktail tables sat around the lounge areas covered in deep cobalt blue linens cinched in with fuchsia ties around the middle. Small candle votives adorned the tables and as the night progressed the sea of Chinese lanterns gave off a fuchsia glow around the tent as guests settled in for a night of dancing. Don't miss a single detail of the reception, including the couple's four tier white fondant covered confection and Keri's fabulous little getaway frock! Title: Molly Picon in The Wedding Scene from Yidl Mitn Fidl 1936 Yiddish film

from the 1936 Yiddish film YIDL MITN FIDL.
This was filmed once again in Kazimierz, Poland, using local inhabitants as extras. It took over thirty consecutive hours to film, and the food had to be kosher of course as the locals used were all Orthodox Jews. As the filming went on, they ate, and for the successive shots of the table the food had to be replenished. The poverty stricken guests just couldn't understand what was happening, as they thought they had been invited to a real wedding. When one woman asked why so much food they explained that it wasn't a real wedding - only a film. It is possible she had never seen a film, for she said: "Why didn't you tell me that before? With so much food, I could have brought my daughter to get married for real. She has a chassen (bridegroom) but we have no money for a dowry to make a proper wedding." Molly suspected her husband (Jacob Kalich) may have given the woman the money, as later she smiled at Picon and said "Are you lucky to have such a rich husband."
It's a sobering thought to think what would have happened to these people only a few short years later.

There's a patch of snow on the ground

Hear the salvation army band
Down by the riverside
There's bound to be a better ride

Autum; [original text from Sarah] I recorded 'Autumn' into my mobile phone in my bedroom on the 10th February 2010, the evening my mother, Debbie Phillips, died of cervical cancer. Family friend, Charlie Mole, subsequently added the musical accompaniment. This was played as a tribute at her funeral on 25th February. Cervical cancer has for a long time been the 'poor relation' of other cancers. Debbie Fund has been set up as part of the UCL Cancer Research Trust to fund research into the detection and treatment of cervical cancer. Title: The Strawbs - Autumn (High Quality)

I sense Autumn coming on
The mist has hung low all day
Small birds gather on the wing
Preparing to make their way.

The trees begin to show
A trace of brown among the green
Bringing back the memories
That only you and I have seen.

I sense Autumn coming on
The sun sinking red and deep
The fires burning in the fields
As late Summer falls asleep.

The leaves begin to scatter
As the North wind calls their name
Folding gently back into
The silent earth from which they came.

Still waters flow
Sea breezes blow
Wild flowers grow
Abundant at your feet.

Soft falling snow
Warm candle glow
Flushed faces show
The pleasure when we meet.

Hold on to me, I'll hold on to you
The winter long I will always be with you.
Hold on to me, I'll hold on to you
I will be the one who will always see you through.

Real Wedding ~ Ashley and Jeff

Ashley and Jeff were married at the Montesano Mountain Lodge in Huntsville, AL in a lovely vintage-inspired wedding photographed by Simply Bloom Photography. A pretty palette of orange, red and yellow was set against a base of neutral tones. The bridesmaids wore coppery brown dresses and carried bouquets in varying hues made of a single type of blossom massed together and created b y florist Belle Fleur. We love their authentic vintage accents, including their typewriter guest book, an industrial wire fan and wooden Pepsi crates. Guests enjoyed a huge spread of delicious homemade pies displayed on a tiered chandelier server for dessert. To see more of Ashley and Jeff's Alabama soiree, visit the inspiring Simply Bloom Photography blog.

Sarah & Neil Taylor's Wedding at St Annes Singleton & The Gibbon Bridge, Fabulous Photographs by Aggie McGuinness (& a secret about photographers too)

This is a fantastically wet wedding day photographed by the indomitable Aggie McGuinness.
~
Now then this is the thing, a kind of secret really, that for whatever reason photographers forget to blow their own trumpet about, well really good professional photographers like Aggie I mean, they can, and do take amazing photographs in the rain, when its dark, with no space, with no time, with lots of pressure, photographs of Bridesmaid's that refuse to look happy and so on and so on, that's why we need to pay the big bucks to hire them, Uncle Fred with his fab camera can't do this, I definitely can't do this and neither can the chap whose driving the cars.
~
So make sure you get yourself a really great photographer any of the photographers I mention on the posts throughout my blog are just the type of Photographers you need; proper ones!!
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)
So welcome to a very beautiful Church St Annes at Singleton, normally a church where the canopy of the trees protects the bridal party from showers of rain, but not on this occasion, the heavens well and truly opened. On days like these the flowers that decorate the interior of the Church are so important, lots more time than usual will be spent within its walls.
Obviously we didn't know it was going to rain so heavily when we planned these designs (We do live in England where rain is quite common so I'm not that clever!) but I'm glad we planned lovely pew end designs of Fantasia Anthuriums & Cream Vendella Roses.Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)Glorious Pedestal Designs with majestic candles in the centre
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)Delicious porch arrangements of Hydrangeas, Roses & Anthuiums
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)We created an arch of flowers around the door which worked perfectly for taking kind of inside out photographs of the bride and groom later
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo) The Lytch Gate too was dressed with lanterns and swags of fresh flowers
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo) Neil & his Best Man arrived early so we could pin their buttonholes on

Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo) The Groom wore a very simple and elegant Akito Rose Buttonhole
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo) The Bridesmaid's looked fabulous in their pewter gowns, I'd made "Marshmellow" bridesmaid's bouquets of Roses, Peonies & Grasses
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo) Sarah didn't even notice the rain, she just looked completely radiant in her exquisite Ian Stuart gown, Sarah's wedding bouquet in pale pink & ivory was perfectly matched to her wedding gown.
Ian Stuart is available from the lovely Sheree at One & Only In Preston

Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)Then to a superb wedding venue Gibbon Bridge, where calmness reigns and organisation is second nature.
The tables were named after cocktails so huge cocktail glasses were used in the centre and two smaller ones at either end, we filled them with a cocktail of Delphiniums, Hydrangeas, Roses & Anthuriums.
Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)

Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)
And now for the really clever stuff, Aggie McGuinness at her best, these gorgeous images really capture the chemistry between these two and I love them!Sarah&NeilTaylor'sWeddingatStAnnesSingleton&TheGibbonBridge,FabulousPhotographsbyAggieMcGuinness(&asecretaboutphotographerstoo)

This was such a memorable day, but with photographs as beautiful as these no detail no matter how small will ever be forgotten, many, many thanks to my lovely friend Aggie McGuiness for sending me these stunning pictures, Aggie & I have been working together for the past ten years and whenever a bride comes into our studio and says she's booked Aggie I just know it's going to be a great wedding!

"Angel" Lyrics:
Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh a beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
oh and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

So tired of the straight life
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lies
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe
in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

Adam Barnes Fine Art Photographers ~ Lynchburg, VA

One thing we noticed about Adam Barnes right from the start, is that we are always so moved by his work. You may remember him from our Valentine's Day blog post, Kisses from Weddings Unveiled. You can visit that post by clicking here. Adam's photograph was listed first in our Top 20 images with good reason. When it arrived, we were all stunned by its breathtaking beauty, its unique perspective, its romantic allure... it was just so, well... good. In fact, we'd love to have an excuse to post it again, so here it is.

Though his talent is amazing, it's certainly not the only thing we love about Adam. He is one of those people whose warm, caring, giving personality shines through, even in an email. We're so blessed to have become friends with him and we can't wait to show you more of his work, which is sure to appear again many times in the future, both here on Completely Unveiled and in the pages of Weddings Unveiled. We hope you enjoy this interview with Adam, where you can get to know him a little better and find inspiration in his photography. We imagine that working with him would be the exerience of a lifetime.

Adam Barnes Fine Art Photographers is based in Lynchburg, VA. He accepts commissions all over the world. To contact Adam Barnes Fine Art Photographers, visit the website by clicking here or call 434.845.6292.

ADAM BARNES FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHERS

Weddings Unveiled: Tell us a little bit about you and about Adam Barnes Fine Art Photographers.
AB:
At the moment, my wife Lauren and I live in Lynchburg, Virginia with our Great Dane, Leah (which adds lots of excitement to the Barnes household). However, I grew up on a farm in rural North Carolina, which has added a million aspects to who I am today. I have always been rather quiet and a little introverted but disciplined, tuned to detail and a tough worker. I think those qualities make my business what it is today. My business grew out of a passion for photographs and a deep love for those around me.

WU: How did you become a photographer?
AB:
Beginning in high school with the school newspaper... I found a love for photography. I'll never forget those days of journalism class, bustin' a move in the dark room while developing film. One of my greatest friends, who is also an established photographer herself, Amanda Caldwell of Amanda Caldwell Photography, can attest to the absurdity of those many hours of inhaling developer and fixer under the warm glow of the darkroom light with 20 people all crammed into one tiny room... ahhh the memories. It was during those years that I fell in love with film and what you could capture through a lens.

WU: How did you become a wedding photographer?
AB:
I never dreamed of owning a photography business. I graduated college in 2000 (still hard to believe how quickly time flies) and worked in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for 7 years. I was in the middle of my master's degree in counseling when I withdrew to pursue photography full time in the fall of 2005. My professors thought I was nuts and I did too, but I had been encouraged by so many of my friends to really pursue my love for this art. Wedding photography became more focused over the years due to my fascination with photography and my excitement of working with people. There is no better field to be in.

WU: Digital or film or both? Why?
AB: I continue to shoot both film and digital. I love the simplicity of film and the beauty it easily conveys. Digital has its amazing ways too but film is just so much more full of surprises.

WU: Describe your wedding photography style.
AB:
I really try to focus on emotions and aspects of the wedding that, when captured, will be nostalgic 50, even 100 years from now.

WU: Show us your favorite wedding image and tell us why it represents your style.
AB:
Wow, what a question... there are so many moments I have captured and I love what they all represent. If I had to pick just one, it would be this image of a father putting a necklace on his daughter the day of her wedding. Family and relationships are everything to me and again I hope that 50 years from now this image will evoke such wonderful emotions for the bride and her family.

WU: What inspires you? What inspires your photography?
AB: "[An] author should never conceive of himself as bringing into existence beauty or wisdom that did not exist before, but simply and solely as trying to embody in terms of his own art some reflection of eternal Beauty and Wisdom. " C.S. Lewis

WU: How do you keep your vision fresh?
AB:
It is amazing that with each couple you can find things that are so unique. Each couple brings a different and new aspect to my work that keeps me excited.

WU: Do you do non-wedding photography work? If so, how does it influence your wedding photography?
AB: I like to capture fine art images. When I am overwhelmed and just need a break I head out and look for details that can be missed in everyday life. It is so intriguing to me that the smallest things can be so fascinating. This carries over into my wedding photography by remembering to look for those things throughout a wedding day that may get overlooked by so many.

WU: What makes you different from other wedding photographers?
AB: I think my background in the counseling world adds to my approach to weddings. I love my clients and really enjoy creating lasting friendships with them. Not sure this necessarily sets me apart, but it's one aspect of my business that I put a lot of emphasis on.

WU: What would be your ideal wedding assignment?
AB:
No timelines, no stress for the couple and lots of details.

WU: Tell us three things you can't live without.
AB:
Coffee, music, friends and my wife... not in any particular order of course (coffee is pretty big though...). I can't choose just three.

WU: What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
AB: Just listen with all that you are.

WU: What is the best advice you can give to an engaged couple?
AB:
Enjoy this time of your lives, it goes so quickly.

Inspired by Dr. Zhivago

I just can't help it...I am a romantic at heart.
Let me just say, I was in my early 20's when I finally watched Dr. Zhivago, completely late at night, by myself with massive hormonal p.m.s.
LOL!
Sobbing my eyes out by the end of the movie it remains one of my favorite films to this day!
I haven't watched it since because I literally was so emotional for like 3 days after watching it!
...yeah, hormones can really stick it to you!
;P

Anyway, many years later I remembered this movie and was inspired creating my recent fascinator. Romantic, beautiful, winter like...I named it Larissa after the character Laura.
I used white organic cotton for the 100% hand made flower base and a crown of billowing marabou! Of course, I had to add tiny Swarovski crystals all over the feathers to add
twinkling sparkles!

Larissa

Can't you imagine a winter wonderland?!

Real Wedding ~ Emily Foley, WU Writer Extraordinaire

There's no doubt that here at Weddings Unveiled, we see a lot of weddings. However, it's not every day that we can share the wedding of one of our own. Emily Foley has been writing for Weddings Unveiled now for a couple of years and has interviewed many newlyweds for our real wedding features. We have always loved Emily's style and brilliant personality and when she recently married in Atlanta, GA, we couldn't wait to share her with you. She's given us a little bit of insight on some of her decisions. If you'd like to know more, leave a comment!

Emily: I knew I wanted Joshua John (http://www.joshuajohncakes.com/) to create my wedding cake. His bold, energetic style is completely unique and exactly what I wanted. Plus, he’s inspired by fashion, making us two peas in a pod. People literally gasped when they saw the finished product. It also tasted like dessert (his M.O.) which meant that even though I don’t typically like cake, I thought it was delicious!

Emily: Purple and apple green have been my “signature colors” for a while, as evinced by my last three bedrooms. As soon as I started thinking about my wedding (read: before I was actually engaged), I knew those were the colors I would use. I chose a deep plum for an element of elegance alongside the cheerfulness of apple green. There was a point on my wedding day when my bridesmaids and I were taking pictures that I stepped back and looked at them, and my heart skipped a little as I realized that the colors were exactly what I’d pictured.

Emily: I used Vines & Roses florist in Dacula (way outside of Atlanta), where my best friend’s mother works. I don’t know a lot about types of flowers, but knew the colors and overall shape for the bouquets that I wanted. I also knew that I wanted a collar of black boa on mine, which was met with resistance by a lot of my advisors (the florist was nervous about the black element, and my mother was afraid the feathery texture would look gothic). I stood my ground and literally started jumping up and down and cheering when I saw the finished product. Perfection.

Flower Design Staff Training with New York Florist Mentor Tim Huckerbee

We had a fantastic day last week with the amazing Tim Huckerbee, directly from New York via Glasgow where he'd done a seminar for Metz, if you are a florist reading this blog, believe me you need him in your life!
~
The main thrust of our training was really about realising & managing customer expectation.
~
Our much valued customers regularly ask for a fantastic amazing, huge and showy hand tied bouquet for £20 the same £20 they've paid for the past 20 years, which to be fair used to buy them a big showy hand tie but now buys a very beautiful small handtie great for a desk or side table but not a design that could be described as showy. So Tim taught us how to describe simply and to sell appropriately resulting in much, much happier customers, who could ask for more?
~
So we hand picked from our Flower Design team our more senior florists for this very special training day; Emma, Nigel (From Metz), Gemma, Jason, Vicki, Rachel, Olivia, Shirl & Tim HuckerbeeFlowerDesignStaffTrainingwithNewYorkFloristMentorTimHuckerbee Oh yes and there's no show without punch!
FlowerDesignStaffTrainingwithNewYorkFloristMentorTimHuckerbee Nigel from Metz organized the day for us acting as "go between", picking him up from the train station and delivering him back afterwards, Metz very generously covered Tim's travel expenses which really helped us to be able manage the cost of the training (there are many hidden benefits to buying from Metz!)
FlowerDesignStaffTrainingwithNewYorkFloristMentorTimHuckerbee Following a fabulous days training we all went to Jali for a delicious Indian Banquet
FlowerDesignStaffTrainingwithNewYorkFloristMentorTimHuckerbeeFlowerDesignStaffTrainingwithNewYorkFloristMentorTimHuckerbee We had lots of time to discuss the days events in a very relaxed environment which really helped us all to remember the process.

The results have been incredible, we've had more calls, emails and cards from super satisfied clients that we ever had done before, so huge thanks to Tim, Nigel and all the team at Metz and roll on September when Tim's back with us.

Should any one want information about booking Tim Huckerbee, just email Nigel, nigelb@metz.com

Real Wedding ~ Emily and Jason

Emily and Jason's lovely Raleigh, NC wedding was sent to us by our longtime friend, photographer Abigail Seymour. Their November nuptials took place at the beautiful Saint Mary's School Chapel with their reception at the NC State University Club. Emily carried a soft white bouquet created by Tre Bella while her bridesmaids carried similar smaller versions. For a pretty, romantic feel, the wedding palette was a mixture of muted green and white with accents of latte. The garland hung over the chapel doors was created with hydrangea and lilies in remembrance of Emily's grandparents. Visit Abigail Seymour's blog to see more of Emily and Jason's wedding and their romantic engagement session.
