What many folks fail to realize is that poor quality jumpers or
pigtails will cost you all the signal you maintain from installing
even the best cable. At some frequencies, badly made or wimpy 18 or
14 inch pigtails or adapters can cost you up to 3 Dbi!

It is difficult to tell when spending a little more on coaxial
cable will get you better wireless reception. Chinese manufacturers
are becoming well known for substituting off brand and substandard
copper alloys and poor quality jacket material in an attempt to
keep profit margins up. Reduction of quality standards for
components used in wire and jackets can produce big savings for the
manufacturers. The Genuine US made Times Micro produced LMR400 coax
sold by MPD Digital and USACOAX is far superior to and should not
be mistaken for the poor or even decent looking counterfeits
calling themselves LMR400 that are offered by many sellers.

Cable Selection for CCTV RG59U is a designator for 75ohm impedance
coaxial cable of which there are several varieties, each having
some slightly different characteristics. There are also other 75
ohm cable types, such as RG6U 18 AWG and RG11U 16 AWG. These have
larger gauge conductors and are for use where longer cable runs are
necessary.

A cable with twice the diameter will have half the signal effect
resistance loss. Assuming cable quality is equal, the larger cable
would halve the dBmeter loss. In designing a system, consider not
only the loss in the cable, but also the loss in the connectors.
Cheap connectors give you as much loss as cheap cable. On a final
note, poorly made LMR600

Cable MUST be precision manufactured with precise standard spacing
between conductors to avoid significant signal loss. Quality

Cable for most all CB, Ham and WiFi installs needs to be 50 ohms
cheaper cable not meeting this standard or cheap mismatched
connectors can significantly increase signal loss. It is more
expensive to manufacture 50 ohm cable than 75 ohm, so many cheaper
producers tend to substitute without telling or use cable with
variable dielectric thickness and copper a
