seasoned pastor, "Accept no mediocre life" provides refreshing
biblical views that will challenge the way you live your life. This
motivational book follows on the heels of Foster's recent and
highly acclaimed work entitled "The power to prevail: turning your
adversities into advantages (2003)." Although Foster's writing
style is largely down-to-earth, he interjects countless quotes and
stories throughout the book, resulting in an approach that
satisfies both the curious reader and the academic. If you enjoy
books by John Ortberg (eg, "If you want to walk on water, you have
to get out of the boat"), you will also enjoy David Foster. "Accept
no mediocre life" is highly recommended for anyone who has a desire
to strive for the best; it is also excellent for small group
discussions.

Accept No Mediocre Life:
Living Beyond Labels, Libels, and Limitations
Now available in trade paperback, David Foster urges us to break
free from other peoples mediocre expectations and accept the
excellence of Gods plan for our lives. The biggest mistake people
make is to accept the opinions of others as the truth about
themselves. David Foster says labels limit our capacity to dream,
aspire to greatness, or even feel worthy enough to know God. The
deadliest label of them all is mediocre, which satisfies too many.
But we dont have to settle for mediocre. Foster encourages and
equips readers to excel at all aspects of their lives: WHO they
are, Where they are, WHAT they have, WHILE they can. The perfect
conditions and timing for achieving excellence will never come.
Foster beckons us to seize today, and realize our full potentials
in the present circumstances, whatever they may be.

Handmade cards, over 50 original designs for all occasions. All
kinds of papercrafts are explored. Very colorful photos, of
projects and steps to make them. This covers stencilling
pin-pricking, making windows. Many kinds of paper are
painted, folded & glued to make all kinds of cards. Wire, beads,
silk & wood, tho most cards are stunning not "weird". A very
creative book (from England) to inspire you like it did me. It let
me try new ways of making cards. It took time, but the cards were
just like pictured when I was done. Then I could run with my
imagination, & make variations on the technique I learned. I am
very impressed by this lovely book. Concertina notecards, pop-ups-
sun/moon, paper cutting, collage, paint resist and MORE - one
project of each to learn new things.

City. I thought the book was a good companion to the knowledge I
prevoiusly had. I like the combination of real experience by season
as written.
I especially liked the fly tying section. Bill explains how and
when those flies are used.
Bottom line; this is the only book I use for catching fish on the
Arkansas river in Colorado.

terp (raised settlement)in Northern Holland in the province of
Friesland. Their findings are dated from Roman times through the
10th century AD, focusing mainly on the Frisian people.
It is an extremely detailed and concise report of exactly what they
uncovered, including pencil illustrations of the settlements,
topography of the area during the various centuries, and black and
white photos of some of the artefacts.
Remember that this is a report; as such, the authors do not attempt
to expound opinions but merely state the facts and draw logical
conclusions as to landscape, use of resources, agrarian production
and so on. This book is useful to all scholars researching Frisian
history, particularly as so many of the resources in this area are
rarely printed in English.
It is a shame that the impetus behind this excavation, The Frisia
Project, is now at a standstill. Let me encourage the professors
and participants to take up their fine work once again in hopes
that more volumes such as this one be produced.

Excavation Near
Wijnaldum
This volume contains the first results from the excavation of a
terp at Wijnaldum in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands.
The excavation was carried out as a joint venture between the
University of Groningen and the University of Amsterdam from 1991
until 1993, and was the starting point of an interdisciplinary
project on Frisia Magna in the first millennium AD: a time when
Frisia became an important influence on the international trade and
political stage in Northwest Europe. This volume describes
Wijnaldum, how it was once a cradle of political and economic
growth, and how the cultural heritage of the great days of Frisian
history is now severely threatened in parts of the terp region.

(More customer
reviews)As the previous reviewer points out, this is not
a book for those who are new to Inventor. I originally bought this
book to help my new engineer, but quickly realized that the
intended reader is someone with some Inventor time under their
belt.
In going through it for my own benefit as an experienced user, I'm
pleased to have found a reference for the Inventor tools I don't
use all the time. It's certainly not a good book for the beginner,
but if you've used Inventor for a while and have the basics down,
then this book has some hard to find information in it. The
chapters on large assemblies, the design accelerator wizards, and
weldments will all be a big help.
I picked up a lot of things from just flipping through the tips
from Sean Dotson that are sprinkled throughout all of the chapters
as well. These tell you things about how stuff really works from a
user's point of view. There is also a chapter called Inventor Tools
Overview, that has information explaining several utilities and
functions that I wish I'd known about last year.
If you're looking for a book to learn the basics this is a poor
choice, but if you're looking for a reference that goes beyond the
basics you'll want this on your shelf.

(about the Franklin expedition lost in the arctic) and "Alive"
(about a 1972 plane crash in the Andes), both terrible and true
tales of people forced to fight death and starvation.
This book is as stunning as the other two!
The book is well researched. Dramatic. Brings to light details and
hypothesis of how these people coped in the face of death.

The Archaeology Of The
Donner Party (Wilbur S. Shepperson Series in History and

The tragic saga of the Donner Party has inspired both legend and
scholarship ever since the survivors were rescued from the High
Sierra snows in the spring of 1847. When archaeologist Donald L.
Hardesty and four colleaguesa historian and three other
archaeologists--turned their collective attention to the ordeal of
the Donner Party, the result was an original and sometimes
surprising new study of this pioneer group and their place in the
history of overland migration. Now available for the first time in
paperback, The Archaeology of the Donner Party combines the fruits
of meticulous investigation of the Sierra Nevada sites with
scientific analysis of artifacts discovered there and
interpretation of the documents of the party and the memoirs of
survivors. Through this interdisciplinary approach, Hardesty and
his colleagues offer new insight into the ordeal of these ill-fated
emigrants and demonstrate the vital role that archaeology can play
in illuminating and expanding our understanding of historical
events.Contributions by Michael Brodhead, Donald K. Grayson, Susan
Lindstrom, and George L. Miller.

(More customer
reviews)This book is definitely not what I thought it
would be. To me, felting was taking fibers of wool and "punching"
it (like the threadless sewing machines are made for). Not this
felting. Yes, you still use the wool roving but instead of
punching, you lay it out and crisscross it with another layer of
wool roving. Then you work soapy water through the material. Of
course, there is more to the actual process but you can read that
for yourself in the book.
Once, the felt is created, you can follow some of the projects just
as you would a regular sewing project. Others are created using
more soapy water. Either way, you have cute objects for baby.
Create a mobile for over the crib or soft blocks or balls for the
new member of your family to play with. Soft sided toy boxes, cubes
or totes are always welcome as a shower gift as well as a toy bus
or pony. Hair pins, wastebaskets or even a pair of slippers can be
created with this process. For the more grown up child, you can
create pillows or candle covers or a make up bag and even a desk
set for the young teen in your life.
For those of us that don't wish to make our own felt, some of the
projects can be created with purchased felt. The instructions are
clearly written with graphics to show the way to cut the felt. 44
projects in 4 collections (baby, princess, love and cool), there is
sure to be several that appeal to you.

(More customer

books, and I was excited to see one devoted to fabric books. I
subscribe to Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine and was looking for
some construction ideas on putting the books together. This book
has 5 techiques: a tag book, a book put together with twill tape
and buckles, folded fabric book, altering a board book and a book
constructed using the cover of a another book. The latter 3 use the
same construction methods used in paper books; I can't quite
envision using buckles on the back cover of a book and there were
no surprises in the tag book (covering a paper tag with
fabric.)
There are pages upon pages of photos of finished works. The
pictures often are taken in such close detail that it is hard to
see the overall construction of the page or the book as a whole.
Some of the work is truly beautiful but other pages are primitive,
awkward and simply not of the caliber that is found in my "book"
books.
There are some interesting pocket patterns and ways of using
pockets. None of the fabric techniques are original, i.e., binding
the edges with bias tape or stitching/zigzagging around the edges.
Unless you are a sewing novice looking for ways to incorporate
fabric into altered books, I would recommend that you go with some
of the other books out there, Making and Keeping Creative Journals,
Creating Handmade Books or my favorite, Making Journals by Hand,
and adapt the techniques to fabric on your own. I would not have
bought this book had I seen it before I purchased it.

(More customer
reviews)The book begins with several wonderful tips on
the basics of punchneedle work. It shows pictures of the different
types of punchneedle and talks about the various types of cloth.
Scissors, frames or hoops, beads and how to transfer the patterns
are also included in this section.
Extra tips are given in light green boxes throughout the book.
Don't forget, you are not limited to a small design to hang on a
wall or put on a pillow. These can also be used on table runners or
toppers.
The ten projects are shown in somber colors but that doesn't mean
you have to use the same colors the book suggests. If your room is
bright and light, make the Daisy, Daisy round Pillow in colors to
match your room. The materials list tells you what you will need to
create the pillow itself. The color chart is separate and lists
three different thread manufacturers.
All the templates are included and are at full size. Some may need
to be joined to another half. If you have never done punchneedle,
try your hand at it by using just three daisies or one quail or a
set of three small trees. Once you have the knack, you will be
punching merrily away on the full pattern with confidence.
