(More customer reviews)The Laban Mento Fountain pen is a beautiful, unique pen - it seems that no two are exactly alike in terms of color and pattern. I chose the Purple Tornado and am very pleased with the appearance of the pen. It writes well, however, not as smooth as a Montblanc or Waterman - this is primarily because the pen seems to dry out very quickly. I would recommend storing this pen flat/horizontal instead of upright like you would other fountain pens. That seems to mitigate the drying a little, but you will still have to shake, doodle, etc. to get the pen flowing after a few minutes of non-use.

(More customer reviews)This silver and wood ballpoint feels very comfortable when you're writing. The wood they use is called pernambuco. It's the hard reddish timber of a Brazilian tree, used for making violin bows and as a source of red dye. If you don't use it much the silver gets tarnished a bit. Please do NOT use a silver cleaner. A dry and soft cloth will do.
Why four stars? This is a very expensive ballpoint. It would be nice that a small cloth was added with the ballpoint by the manufacturer.

(More customer reviews)This gun has been difficult to load (the rubber bands are very small--smaller than standard office ones), the gun does not hold onto them well (very easy to slip off and fire on their own), and it shoots one at a time. I would highly recommend spending the extra money on one that is larger (accepts standard office rubberbands--bigger and easier to use) and perhaps being able to try it out before buying--I have one I bought at a local festival that I've enjoyed. The plastic material appears durable, but the tension is weak, does not hold the rubber bands well at all.

(More customer reviews)On a certain level ink is ink - how much more can you say about it? There certainly are questions of durability, strength, permanence (also known as washability), and the tendency to bleed through a typical sheet of paper. On those counts Parker's Quink is very strong in terms of durability and strength; sometimes a little too strong however. Bottled Quink can all too often bleed through less thick paper and even onto the sheet behind it, less than ideal under most circumstances. Quink works fine on heavier stock paper but anything less and you're likely to get a sloppy mess. I'd used Quink for ages, but after trying Sheaffer's Skrip I've made the switch on bottled ink. Yet the weird thing is I've never had this particular problem with the Quink in Parker's cartridges; they just don't demonstrate that tendency. Quink also used to be available in a broader array of colors, but now it's limited to a handful, which again isn't the case with Sheaffer's Skrip. Parker works fine in virtually every fountain pen out there so it really comes down to a matter of preference.

(More customer reviews)HELLO THERE , i have about 15 of these pens , but i watched for sales , deals , ect. ect. it's the only type of pen i use. it writes very well and they come in 6-7 different colors. if u want to pay $ 9.41 plus shpg we are talking about a $ 13.00 or $ 14.00 cost for one. walmart and other stores used to have an abundance of them.
there are actually 2 kind. the one shown is PHD 1 AND THE OTHER ( NOT SHOWN IS CALLED ). PhD ALSO THEY HAVE VERY CHEAP REFILLS YOU CAN BUY. THE 50 YEAR OLD REFILLS THAT ARE PLASTIC and they dont last long. if your interested ,
the pen is excellent and you can buy refills that are " papermate lubriglide. thin or medium point and either black or blue and it holds more ink. it sort of looks like a Parker refill and there are skinny ones also. i
would say keep an eye out for them in amazon because you can find them a lot cheaper then $9.41 plus shpg which
would be in the area of $13.00 -14.00..............don barajas

(More customer reviews)This is a very elegant pen, with a superb nib (made by Namiki).
The metallic body feels smooth but with sufficient grip, rather like snakeskin.
It is a good weight, substantial but not heavy.
It writes beautifully; the nib is firm, but smooth and wet.
The converter screws-in securely and functions effectively ...not much more to say about that.
Now the BUTs :
- the cap does not post securely, due to the tapering barrel....forcing it on would scuff the barrel end, and uncapped the pen is just a little short for anyone with fairly large hands
- if you dip the nib and section into ink to fill it, the ink tends to 'linger' in the crevices around the nib....resulting in inky fingers! This can largely be avoided by filling the converter separately, but it's inconvenient
(- if you opt for cartridges, you have, I believe, to use Cross's own make, as 'international' cartridges don't fit ...I am not sure about this as I've never tried)
It is one of my nicest-writing pens, marred only by the relatively minor faults mentioned.
(PS The RRP/MSRP is ridiculously high ....look for a significant discount)
