A little more than a week ago, I noticed that it was beginning to crack and tear around the hole through which I usually fastened it--which is probably a foreseeable design problem for the material in question. I recall buying this one because of a similar all-rubber or all-plastic band from Timex. In any event, this watch band was a complete waste of my money.
My records show that the order went through Amazon.com.
As a replacement, I bought one with leather (less than $10 including shipping) and this might be a better alternative.

I wanted at a minimum to see the time, day and date: wanted a face color that was light so that is was very easy to read while jogging or just at a glance; and wanted a stainless steel band. I preferred a digital read out as well. The issue is that most digital watches are cheap and have a plastic or leather watchband. Several according to the reviews also scratch easily because of a cheap watch lens.
This watch is a sturdy looking and feeling watch. The band is a very nice double clasp. The face is a little large but looks expensive. I think it is very fairly priced. The face color in some pictures looks very turquoise but in most light it is very slightly colored and is near white. I like the color better than a plain white and it adds to easy reading at a glance.
My only minor gripe is that the instructions are at best adequate and come in very tiny print. I had to enlarge them using my all in one home printer. Once you can read them and spend a few minutes trying them out, it is not difficult
I am very pleased with this purchase.

(More customer reviews)I bought this to replace the SS band on a Casio watch Casio Men's WVA320DJ-1E Atomic Tough Solar Waveceptor Sports Watch, and it worked perfectly. The strap came with two spring pins to attach the strap to the watch (I used the ones from the original band, but it's nice that they include them, in case you lose one while switching straps). There were no instructions, but installation is pretty self-explanatory. The color and design are really nice, the clasp works well, and the quality seems good. My only concern is that you need to cut the strap when reducing the length- if you ever needed to increase the strap length again, you'd be out of luck. Overall, highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)This is simply the best, most functional watch I own. I own a couple of "jewelry" type watches, but for the most part, this is the watch I wear day-in and day-out. I have taken the watch diving, into sub-zero temps, alpine environments, and extreme heat. It gets pounded on rocks when climbing; it's been buried in the snow for hours, and it has never missed a beat. I have had this watch about five years, and I use it all day, every day.
My P6506 is slightly different than the picture in that it has military time printed under the main numbers (i.e. there is a small 13 under the 1, a 14 under the 2, etc.). Also, the "traser" is not printed on the dial. Otherwise, this is the same watch: sapphire crystal, titanium case, and carbon fiber bezel make this a lightweight watch that is also tough. It is a quartz movement, so it keeps accurate time, and never really needs to be adjusted. I move time zones a lot, so I am constantly changing the time, but for a non-atomic watch it's accurate.
After five years of hard use, the bezel has started to wear a bit at the edges, and the case has a few scratches. The crystal is perfectly clear, as it is very difficult to scratch sapphire with anything but sapphire or a diamond. I have changed the band a few times, but it takes a standard 22mm band, so it's easy to find them at Walmart or watch store.
Of course, the draw of this watch over others is that the hands and dots glow extremely bright. I find that most watches are useless after several hours in the dark. When you have 12 or more hours of darkness during winter camping, most watches won't let you see the time without a flashlight. This watch glows bright and does not need recharging like other forms of hand and dial illumination.
Overall, this is a great watch and well worth the money. It's it's too pricey, try one of the cheaper trasers. You can get a steel case and mineral coated glass for much less.

(More customer reviews)I have had this watch for 6 month now and really enjoy it. I have taken it on multiple dives in both salt and fresh water and it has worked flawlessly. The light, while somewhat dim, is what can be expected on a watch of this style. The only thing I would add to the watch, that isn't already there, is a stopwatch funtion.
The docking station is another story. Citizen should move into the 20th century and supply a docking station with USB capabilities. The software that is packaged with the watch could also use a make-over. While still useful, I merely dump the info onto the software and manually input it into the digital logbook that I already have.
I really enjoy the watch and would buy another if I had to do it over again, despite the short-comings of the add ons.

The good: Case, strap, and screen all in great shape despite daily wear. Has survived miscellaneous drops and brief immersions in water with no apparent damage or effect.
The annoying: Needs charging daily. The screen is still small! When I ride my bike on a bumpy road, the Palm OS crashes, and if I don't notice quickly and reset it, the battery goes dead (and then I have to re-enter all the setup data, and reload it). Lately it has been crashing badly (total restart) every couple of days, for no apparent reason.

Below is the original Nov. 2005 review:
I bought the Abacus PDA a couple of weeks ago, mainly to replace the shredded memo pad I'd been trying to keep in my pocket, and to synchronize smoothly with my Microsoft Outlook system at work. Overall, it's everything I expected and it has become my almost-constant companion. A few specific comments:
- Battery life: The biggest problem with it. The battery life bar shows empty after two days, even though I only use the PDA function a couple minutes a day. Maybe it's like a gas gauge, and you really have another day before it dies? If you set it so the LCD display turns off when not in PDA mode (instead of showing the watch face), the life goes to about 4 days. By having the watch application running, you can see the time by simply pressing the enter button. Charging seems very fast, however, and it doesn't seem like you have to have it plugged into a computer to charge. Sadly, it did not charge from my laptop; it had to be plugged into AC.
- The watch is pretty big. Notice that nowhere are the dimensions shown in the specs? The actual size (ignoring the band) is 2.25" long x 1.88" wide by 0.50" thick, more or less. It's also quite heavy, with the stainless case. Display is 1" square. It looks kind of bulky on my fairly large wrist; it would look absurd on my wife's slender wrist. But those of you who carry purses everywhere can get a normal-size PDA.
- Entering data is hard with the tiny screen. Amazingly, the keyboard works pretty well, though I had to run the digitizer calibration option a couple times before the letters I hit lined up with the ones on the screen. However, they're hard to see in dim light, and the touch screen doesn't respond as predictably as I'd like, sometimes giving a letter and sometimes not. I tried Jot briefly, with moderate success, and may try it more later.
- You can look things up entirely with the buttons (no stylus), which is great.
- I wish it was waterproof; I have to take it off at the health club, etc. But I've dropped it on concrete, banged it into a bunch of things (it's a lot bigger than my old watch, after all), and washed my hands while wearing it (oops!), getting it wet, all with no apparent damage.
- Syncronization with Outlook was a breeze to set up, and takes only a couple of seconds. Now I have about 500 contacts, my schedule, and a dozen lists on my wrist. Plus a calculator. Cool!

This watch is awesome, first off it plays any MP3 file, up to 320kpbs (not 256 as stated). The watch shows up as a 'thumb drive' and you can add any type of file to it, the order you add the files is the order they play in, which is really cool, as most mp3 players do them alphabetical or some other stupid way. Any file thats not playable, (eg photo, text doc, etc) it just skipps over it, which makes it equally valuable for storing all sorts of docs in addition to your music.
Its very easy to use while working out, cuz you don't have to hold it and if wearing long sleeves, the earphones go up your sleeve and most people don't even know your listening to music.
I recommend this to anybody who wants to listen to a full CDs (3-6) of music, the battery lasts about 9.5hrs.
however, the watch is heavy (50g), and while nobody has even guessed that it was an mp3 watch, it is a bit thick so very skinny people may not look right wearing it, but overall, i can't think of a better implimentation of this, seriously, this is just perfect, the only thing i could ask for is more storage space, but honestly, with a device like this, more then 256mb is just overkill cuz you have to skip each song manually, there is not playlists or lcd.

I has 3 time zones, stopwatch, countdown, hydration count down, occasion alarm and 3 daily alarms. you can HIDE the functions you don't use. I replaced the watch because the plastic band cracked, and broke. I couldn't find a genaric replacement because of its odd shape. It lasted three years of heavy use. I'm a janitor so it was exposed to some tough chemicals from time to time which might have accelerated the breakage.

(More customer reviews)I bought this watch a few weeks ago and so far it has been performing flawlessly. I was able to set up the time and my personalized settings in just a few quick minutes. It is small enough to be unobtrusive but substantial enough to feel like a watch. It also comes loaded with a bunch of handy features such as a stopwatch, timer, three alarms, three time settings, indiglo watch illumination with Night Mode, and a thirty lap memory with splits.
A very nice feature of this watch is night mode, in which you hold down the indiglo button for a few seconds, and the watch beeps and enters night mode. Then the watch, whenever you press a button in the next eight hours, will automatically illuminate for a few seconds. Also, you can flick your wrist to illuminate the watch rather than pressing the button. You can also exit night mode by holding the button down again, or it will automatically turn off in eight hours. This feature comes in handy at various times.
One odd thing about the watch is the "occasions" feature. This feature seems a little useless to me. I mean if you really are bad with these things, you can program your sister's birthday into your watch, but honestly it comes off as a feature that Timex added to increase the watch's asking price. The other issue one might have with this watch is that the color of blue of the watch is actually somewhat lighter than the display picture of the watch, and this might be a reason for some guys not to buy this watch- not too macho.
However, it's a good price from Amazon and seeing as competing watches with a few more features run anywhere from $75 to over $100, I am more than satisfied with my price/features ratio in this watch. If you don't like the light-ish blue on the watch, this same watch in darker or just plain different colors is available, too. In conclusion, this watch comes with plenty of features for any type of casual athlete and serves its timekeeping purpose very well. Timex-brand quality for a low price is a deal you can't beat.
