Summary: Steam Mop Reviews: General
Steam Mop Reviews
One of the hardest and most dreaded tasks of housekeeping for many
is to mop the floor. This is especially true if you have huge
spaces that need to be cleaned. Steam mops can take the pain out of
keeping your floors clean and the Eureka steam mop, referred to as
the Eureka Enviro Steamer, is a very popular option with
consumers.
The Eureka steam mop is easy to use. It comes with two mop pads
which clip easily to the machine. The pads can be washed and
reused.
The Eureka steam mop is well designed. The water tank holds about
20 ounces of water and it only takes three minutes to reach its
cleaning temperature of 220 degrees. Unlike many other popular
steam mops, the Eureka's water tank is located at it's base instead
of on the handle. This is a much sturdier design. Not every steam
mop on the market gets hot enough to kill germs, bacteria, and dust
mites. The Eureka Enviro Steamer, with it's 220 degree temperature,
does.
Another wonderful feature of the Eureka steam mop is it's
adjustable handle. This feature will be especially appreciated by
consumers who are above average height. No bending over and getting
a sore back while you are mopping!
At about five and half pounds, Eureka's steam mop is lightweight
while at the same time heavy enough to get the job done. The base
water tank puts extra weight on the floor making it easier to scrub
at the grimier spots on your floors.
The Eureka Enviro Steamer is affordably priced and has very high
customer ratings. Most of the reviews rave about the steam mop's
performance and well built design. Of the negative reviews, many
sound as if they could be user error.
A common complaint I seen from unhappy consumers of this mop was
that it left the floor too wet the first time they used it. It
seems that in this case, persistence usually pays off. Many people
mentioned that it might take a few uses to get the mop "broken in"
and working optimally.
There are many advantages to owning and using a steam mop over a
traditional mop. First, it's more eco friendly for your home and
family...no chemicals needed. It is also much easier to use. No
wringing out a mop and lugging a bucket around the house. It also
produces better results. With a traditional mop and bucket
approach, you are often end up pushing the dirt you are trying to
mop up around the floor. Steam mops, with their removable, washable
cloth pads produce much better results.
The Eureka steam mop is definitely one of the top steam mops on the
market but it is a model without many bells and whistles. This
won't bother most people but if you want a steam mop that performs
additional tasks such as cleaning carpet and sanitizing furniture
and rugs, there are some other options that might be a better fit
for you.

If you watch television frequently then you have probably seen the
Shark Steam Mop infomercial at least once or twice. In it they
claim that the Shark Steam Mop can clean your floor 1000 times
better than a traditional mop. While steam mops have certainly
proven themselves to be better than the old mop and bucket, 1000
times better is a pretty bold claim. Overall, this kind of mop is
surely the next level up from traditional mops.
When Shark Steam Mop appeared on the market, people came out in
droves to buy it. Then the reviews on the product started rolling
it. It seems that an overwhelming number of people love the idea of
the Shark Steam Mop, or at least a steam mop in general, but many
were dissatisfied with the performance of the Shark. Some of them
said that the mop lacks a lot of features and a lot of them posted
negative comments.
The common complaints in the Shark Steam Mop reviews are that it
lacks a pivoting head, it has a small tank, and it has a very
flimsy handle. The lack of a pivoting head makes it difficult to
clean around toilets and furniture. The small tank means you will
have to interrupt mopping frequently in order to refill the mop.
And the flimsy handle is perhaps the biggest issue. Not only are
there complaints of it being flimsy, there are also many, many
reports of it breaking.
While Shark does sell a replacement part, who wants to spend
additional money when a poorly designed product fails?
In all fairness, I was able to find some positive
reviews for the Shark
Steam Mop. From what I can tell, it seems to work best on tile
floors. Those with laminate and hardwood often reported streaking
while many with tile floors reported being happy with the
Shark.
Steam mops do have a lot of advantages over a traditional mop. When
you are using a steam mop, you do not need to use detergents or
harsh chemicals on your floors. It uses only water and heat so you
can say goodbye to those harsh chemicals and detergents. It also
uses microfiber pads that helps scrub the dirt, grime and mud from
your floors. The dirt will be trapped in the fibers of the cleaning
pad instead of spreading around the floor like a traditional mop
usually does. The pads can than can be thrown in the washing
machine to be cleaned before being used again. Overall, it is
really convenient to use a steam mop compared with traditional
mop.
I do not however recommend the Shark Steam Mop as the best steam
mop out there. There are much better alternatives if you have your
heart set on purchasing a steam mop.

You may have seen the infomercials for the Haan Steam Mop but we
all know infomercials often don't tell the whole truth about a
product. They are created by marketing geniuses to highlight only
the good points of a product. So setting that aside, lets take a
look at the Haan Steam Mop and evaluate the good and bad points of
its features.
First, lets start out by taking a look at what is good about the
Haan Steam Mop. The Haan really has a lot of positive things going
for it. It heats up to 212 degrees which makes it one of the hotter
steam mops on the market. This is important if you want a steam mop
that sanitizes the floors in addition to cleaning them. Believe it
or not, there are several popular steam mops that don't get hot
enough to actually kill germs, bacteria, and dust mites so this is
actually a really big positive for the Haan.
A couple more things that the Haan Steam Mop has going for it is
it's lightweight style and tall handle. Another advantage the Haan
has over other steam mops is it's deluxe sanitizing tray option.
With this tray, you can sanitize rugs and carpets, upholstery,
mattresses, bedding, drapes, and more. Also, the handle of the Haan
Steam Mop is removable so you can also easily use it to clean and
sanitize showers and other surfaces such as counter tops.
The common complaints about the Haan Steam Mop include the fact
that it's water tank is too small. This can be an especially big
issue if you have large areas to mop. You may find yourself having
to stop and refill it more than once. The tank can hold about 12
ounces of water which will probably give you about 12 13 minutes
of mopping time.
Another common complaint about the Haan Steam Mop is that it feels
a little flimsy. This doesn't seem to be a huge problem though as I
haven't noticed any widespread reports of anyone having problems
with it breaking. That seems to be more of a problem with the Shark
Steam Mop.
None of these issues are truly major though and the Haan Steam Mop
has plenty of glowing reviews from happy consumers. It really does
seem to rank right up there as one of the best steam mops you can
buy on the market today.
