It is NOT! It is a toy! You cannot learn to play harp on it. It is
cute; but the strings are the wrong spacing for a true harp, the
sound is bad, and it won't hold in tune.
But it is great for a photo or a two year old to pretend. If you
want a true small size harp that plays, check out heartland harps,
harpsicles, or go to any harp online store and type in lever
harp.

(More customer

one Master Key pitchpipe for decades with excellent results. In
spite of the revolution of electronic, then digital, tuners, the
good ol' Master Key is amazingly reliable for such a cheap,
pocket-sized instrument. The one catch is: Yes, it does depend on
how you play it. It is a small reed instrument, like a harmonica,
and reeds bend if you over-blow them. The correct "technique" for
this "pitch instrument" (that's what they call it) is to first
inhale a deep breath, then blow into the selected pitch hole very
evenly and gently out of the smallest opening one can get one's
mouth to make, and it seems to sound better with the silver side
up. May all your melodies be on key.

pedal, which is also easy on the budget. I'm still checking the
features out. I find the settings are pushing me to play in certain
directions hitherto unexplored. Very cool. The drum beats also try
hard to provide variety, and yet, they remain mechanical, acting
almost like a pendulum, keeping me on the beat. Good stuff for
practice and for working leads around the rhythm. I still have a
long way to go before the novelty of this nice piece of engineering
wears off.

(More customer

qualification. That is I've owned everything from a Gibson Lab
Series stack (remember those?)to Trace Elliot to Laney to Hughes
and Kettner to Marshall to Peavey to Vox to Randall to Sunn, and a
couple more I've forgotten. Why am I telling you all this?Very
simple...
This is without question the best sounding amplifier I've ever
owned,bar none!Before I actually recieved my new Hot Rod,I heard a
sound file of David Gilmour playing a Strat through a Hot Rod and I
was absolutely blown away. But the thing is...when I plugged my
Strat into my Hot Rod...bingo...I got the exact same clear, crisp
and powerful tone that I had heard from Gilmour!
This amp,on the clean channel, has more oomphh than a lot of amps on
their dirty channels. It's apparent that Fender takes great care to
match the power tubes, both output and pre-amp.Also,the reverb is
superb. The chicken head knobs and forward facing controls make it a
snap to adust quickly on stage. It also comes with an LED lit
footswitch for switching channels and boosting the drive channel
(drive and more drive).
Some technical stuff...I have the 40 watt version, which drives a
Celestion vintage 12 " speaker @8 ohms.It has a pre-amp out and a
power amp in,which can be used as an effects loop or to to add
another Hot Rod.It has bass, mid and high equalization,as well as
master volume, presence and drive knobs.Easy to see LED's indicate
channel and drive level (both on the amp and the footswitch). It
also has a bright switch (high frequency boost) and a speaker out
jack to power another 8 ohm cabinet.
In closing let me say don't let the 40 watts fool you...this amp is
LOUD!I play onstage at a lot of medium to large size clubs and have
no trouble standing out in the mix, with power to spare!By the way
this amp comes with a five year limited transferable warranty. So
what are the minuses...there are none! This is simply a great and
great sounding amp.If you play blues, rock, pop or country this amp
will do you proud and make your bandmates take notice and the
audience pay attention.Happy Playing!

(More customer
reviews)I bought this amp on clearance at Guitar Center
for $80. (usd). When I got it home and plugged it in, I was less
than impressed. The tone was flat and when cranked the distortion
was harsh and non musical. The next day, I replaced the (worthless)
Sovtek 12ax7 preamp tube and el84 power tube with an Electro
Harmonix 12ax7 ($12.) and JJ el84 ($21.).....instant
difference....the tone was warmer and after a few hours of playing
the cheap plastic coated speaker (almost) sounded ok..still not
satisfied I looked at replacement speakers...I found an AMAZING
sounding speaker from warehouse guitar speakers, a "Veteran 10" 10
inch, seamed paper cone speaker...some think it to be tonally
superior to the Vintage 30....HOLY SMOKES!!! It is like a new
amp...serious tone! I can not stop playing through it....all said,
$80, plus $33 in tubes and $41. for the speaker (yes, only 41.) at
roughly $150...this amp went from a dud to an amazing little tone
monster....I am completely satisfied! (after a little tweeking)

sweeter, the wonderful tenor and bass brilliant, and the ornaments
by the instrument soloists, choir, and director alike, a wonderful
performance. Comparing it with my experience in a student's chorus
and another recording I almost listened to, it is extremely good (I
didn't listen to the other recording because it was no match -with
the Puccinni soprani and alti- for this one); when listening to it,
and getting excited, and depressed and joyful in each piece, I rate
it as magnificent, almost unreachable and touching - perhaps almost
as much as it would be, directed by Johann Sebastian Bach himself.
Note that the booklet is nearly as exciting (e.g. my noteheads and
Joh. Seb. Bach's are, since when I read it, alike). The cover is
also very good with a(n invisible to internet-surfers) silver
cross. An extraordinarilly perfect performance.

(More customer

blues harp MS. They dropped right in and had no issues at all with
fit. Playability was another issue. The 9 draw wouldn't sound and
the 2draw was out of tune and rattled. I manually adjusted the gaps
by very carefully bending the reeds outward in very small
increments. After adjusting the gaps, the 9 draw worked fine and
the 2 draw was more in tune but it still had a rattle. I think it
was machined too close to the length of the cutout in the plate and
so the tip buzzed against the plate. This might also be why it was
out of tune--the reed was too long. This is easy to fix with a file
and the harmonica sounds awesome now--better than it did with the
old plates.
Overall, the replacement worked with a little bit of tinkering, and
the replacement plates are probably marketed to tinkerers anyway.
If you've got an old harp that needs new life and you aren't afraid
of fifteen minutes of adjustment, then don't be afraid to get
these. If you've never seen a reed plate, you might want to spend
$10 more and just buy a new harp.

weeks one of the keys went bad (sounded like a bleating goat). I
returned it to J&R with no problems and they replaced it. I
have had my new replacement for a week and several keys are already
flat. I am going to now have to send it to Hohner for
repair/tuning. No charge to me but it is a hassle. I don't know
what the problem is, but they should look into why this is
happening. Otherwise, this is a beautiful sounding accordion, easy
to play/learn. The straps that come with it are extremely
uncomfortable. I bought Hohner straps for $27 from Amazon - huge
difference!

(More customer
reviews)We all know Wes Borland, Black Light Burns'
guitarist/vocalist, best for his shape shifting days as Limp
Bizkit's lead guitarist. But he left that gig in late 2001.
After a couple of failed attempts at reviving his career with Big
Dumb Face and Eat The Day (and also reportedly turning down spots
in Nine Inch Nails and A Perfect Circle), then rejoining and
leaving Limp Bizkit again, here he is with what initially appears
to be a successful return in 2007 with Black Light Burns.
Since 2001 Borland has clearly been influenced by Nine Inch Nails
and his pal Trent Reznor, because the sounds of Nine Inch Nails
clearly come through in Black Light Burns. Adding to this is
familiarity would be current NIN drummer Josh Freese and NIN
bassist Danny Lohner both backing up Borland on Black Light Burns
debut Cruel Melody. Rounding out the studio recording is--according
to Cruel Melody's liner notes--some dude named Josh Eustis who did
some keyboard work and programmed a lot of the 5th member of the
band into the CD.
"Programmed a lot of the 5th member?" you ask? Well according to
the liner notes the 5th member is Borland's own Macbook Pro. And
the Macbbok Pro, again according to Black Light Burns, will be the
only member of the CD recording that you'll see (hear) on the road;
the rest of the touring band has been replaced by mostly
unknowns.
As I said earlier, NIN's influence on Black Light Burns' Cruel
Melody rings through loud and clear. I wouldn't be surprised if
tracks 2, 8, 9 & 10 were written with Reznor back when Borland
was contemplating joining NIN.
Track 3 is the radio-played Lie, and it's a rocker. In my opinion
it's the best track on the CD, and the track that drew me in and
got me to make the purchase (the video is pretty cool too). Mark is
the name of the 6th track...another unique rocker and my bet for
the next radio-rotation release.
The rest of the disk has that "sounds like" quality of...you
know...sounds like NIN; or sounds like Marilyn Manson; or sounds
like Mushroomhead. However, one thing's for sure, you never hear
yourself saying, "sounds like Limp Bizkit."
What Borland does bring from Limp Bizkit is his guitar playing
talent that separates him from the clutter of generic sounding Nu
Metal bands that for whatever reason won't throw a guitar solo on a
CD. I wouldn't go so far as to say that guitar solos are back,
alive and well on Cruel Melody, but the guitarwork is very cool and
helps separate Black Light Burns from being classified as a clone
of some of the bands that I compared them to earlier.
So with Black Light Burns your expectations should be set for a
sort of supergroup with a familiar sound. They are a supergroup
less because all of the studio players are relatively well
established names in modern rock, and more because those names
brought the best of their talent to Cruel Melody. But you can also
expect to hear a CD of songs that mostly just don't sound entirely
new.
Fans of Goth Rock should certainly give it a spin.

Cruel Melody
He's been a) an underground metal mercenary, abetting the likes of
brainy young upstarts From First to Last and He Is Legend, b) a
fearless visual artist whose unsettling images will appear on his
forthcoming CD, and most famously c) the chameleonic lead guitarist
for Limp Bizkit, who have sold over 30 million records worldwide.
Now, for Wes Borlands next trick, hes putting on the guise of
frontman, leading both a studio and live supergroup to even darker
depths as Black Light Burns. And the new look suits him well.
Borland has flirted with his big post-LB breakthrough on and off
over the last five years, first with the idiosyncratic Big Dumb
Face, then with his brother Scott in Eat the Day before hooking up
with bassist Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails) and drummer Josh Freese
(A Perfect Circle) in proto-industrial powerhouse the Damning Well,
whose crushing Underworld soundtrack contribution "Awakening"
featured Richard Patrick (Filter, Army of Anyone) on vocals. Now
Borland has taken Lohner, Freese and sound designer Josh Eustis
(Telefon Tel Aviv) to super-producer Ross Robinsons upstart I AM:
WOLFPACK label and delivered Black Light Burns harrowing debut,
Cruel Melody, 180 degrees from what you think you know about the
eccentric axeman. From the post-Ramones surf rock freakout of
opener "Mesopotamia" and the slow-build confessional spit of "I
Have a Need" to the introspective, epic closing tandem "New Hunger"
and "I Am Where It Takes Me" (the latter featuring the smoky siren
call of Concrete Blondes Johnette Napolitano), Cruel Melody is one
hell of a curveball. "For the most part, [the records] more about
melody," Borland says. "Its a big drums record, because Josh
Freese goes bananas. A lot of it was thought about in terms of
beats and attacking the songs beatwise. And the riff kind of
followed second to that, if it was appropriate. "The record starts
real aggressively, but toward the middle it gets a little more
hurtful and hurting, lyrically, trying to express painful feelings,
but still in an aggressive way. Then it kind of opens up in the
end. And that was the purpose: to attack, then explain, then
release and be done with it." Cruel Melody was originally going to
be an esoteric, dirge-heavy solo project with a variety of singers,
but as Borland started writing heavier material, he finally decided
to take the reins behind the mike. It didnt hurt that he got
inspiration not only from Lohner, who doubled as the albums
producer, but Lohners famous former employer. "I was talking to
Trent Reznor, playing him these tracks in their infancy," Borland
remembers. "And he said, Youre singing like somebodys sleeping
in the next room. You should try to open that up. You know, its
really easy to do cool electronic music thats instrumental and put
soft vocals over it, but its a lot harder to write actual songs
and have them hit people." With Cruel Melody locked and loaded,
Borlands planning an evocative new onstage persona for Black
Lights maiden voyage, boasting a live band with guitarist Nick
Annis (Seether), drummer Marshal Kirpatric (Today Is the Day, the
Esoteric) and, for now, a laptop to wreak ambient havoc. ("Screw
it," he laughs, "theres a computer in the band.") In the interim,
hes just striving to perfect his unique approach to making art.
"The paintings and the music kind of chase one another, trying to
keep up with some other third element thats the idea," Borland
considers. "Its almost like when you see a little flash in the
corner of your eye and youre not sure what it was. My music and
visual art is me trying to look really fast to see what that third
thing was. Im always trying to hit this place that gives me some
satisfaction."
