It is a hard BACK cover - i.e. a piece of plastic that goes on the back of your iPad. No snap on front part, tension is the only thing keeping the iPad in there. NO PROTECTION WHERE THE IPAD IS FRAGILE.
If I knew that beforehand and saw it in a store, I wouldn't pay > $1.50 for it.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this product from iRuleStore via amazon to charge my iPad on 24V vehicle, which the above description suggests it should do. However, the product packaging names only 3G iPhone and early iPod applications - which do not require a 2.1 amp charger like iPad. What's more, there's no indication that this can safely be used with the 24V vehicle I bought it for. (Don't want to blow out my new device!) In fact there are no other specs or documentation included with this product, whatsoever. Worst of all, I wrote the seller, iRuleStore, to request either getting the correct product as described above, or that they provide specs confirming that the one they sent will safely work with my application, and as of a week later they've never bothered to answer.

I was originally geared more toward the transparent, thin keyboard skin but the price deterred me. This particular product was way cheaper, and the quality is great! I really like the fact that the keys are black, because at first glance, people don't even realize I had a keyboard skin on! The fit is perfect, and I actually like the fact that it is slightly thicker than the clear transparent ones because the edges don't curl or lift up at all (however its thin enough that the laptop opens/closes without any issues). It comes in the mail in just a plastic USPS bag, with no filler material, so I was scared that it would be bent or have fold marks, but it was just fine!
I purchased this keyboard for my MacBook Pro 13" Aluminum Unibody.

(More customer reviews)I got this for my iPad, and it works well, easy to travel with, easy to access contents. no complaints at all. But I do have a couple of wish list items. The pocket for the iPad is too small IMHO. It holds the iPad, but just, and it can't be in any case, or skin. I'd rather it large enough for at least apple's case, and maybe a bit of stretch in the pocket.
Also I'd like a pocket on the outside large enough to put my iPhone, or whatever. Not a form fitting iPhone pocket, but one large enough, some padding maybe where I can drop something like the phone, or a camera into when I strip down to go through airport security.
Am I going to keep using this bag, yes indeed. -JD-

Portable power, the ability to charge my iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, etc - all while still in the car. And then quickly plug in at night in the hotel room and recharge. Sounds perfect! The problem was - it simply did not work. I charged it fully after opening the package. It works fine when plugged in - but has no mobile battery power. And the flashlight (which I really didn't care about) didn't work at all.

(More customer reviews)If you're looking for an elegant way to transport your iPad, this is the best option I've found yet.
Basically the pictures provided by Amazon tell you pretty much what you need to know. It's a very nice leather case. Mine is a bit darker and more uniform brown than the picture (and probably not quite as shiny), and there are some slight natural variations across the surface as one would expect from a natural hide product.
The inside surface is a smooth fabric as you might find in the lining of a suit jacket. No worries about scratches from it.
The padding is relatively thick so with the iPad in it the whole thing is about 1.5" thick at its thickest point (but you could pinch it down to an inch or so with resistance). It's still well proportioned and looks and feels very nice.
There's no rigid screen shield, so if you sit or drop a big rock on it, you're probably in trouble, but it will provide much better protection (especially from drops) than the standard Apple case or most of the other available cases today.
The tab that goes in the slot to act as a closure has a magnet on it that helps hold it in place when closed, but you have to insert the tab into the slot for the magnets to come into proximity and the effect is rather subtle. the closure is not primarily magnetic, the magnet just helps hold the tab in place.
It has a relatively strong "newly tanned leather" smell out of the package which I'm sure will dissipate before too long. It's a bit harsher and more chemical than what you might associate with the "smell of leather", but not bothersome.
It should be obvious, but this is basically an envelope from which you have to remove the bare iPad in order to use it. There's no way to use it in the case, and the case does not act as a stand for it, etc. Since you remove the iPad from the case for use, it won't have any additional protection from drops or other mishaps while it's in your hands.
I think it's unlikely that you would be able to insert the iPad into this case while it was in another case like a form-fitting skin. Maybe if the second case was very thin and smooth. I definitely could not get it in while in the standard black rubber apple case.
Some people may really like being able to have direct access to the bare device when using it, without any bulky/floppy case attached, but others may prefer one of the other case options which allow you to use it without removing it.
There are no additional pockets or space for other accessories, but there is a business card slot so you can have some ID with your iPad if it goes astray.
Anyhow, this case is everything I hoped it would be when I ordered it, and if you like the idea of this style of case, then you probably won't be disappointed either.
