width320 height320 app styletextalign justifyThe name Kyocera
probably won8217t be ringing many bells right now, but that could
change with the Echo, the littleknown manufacturer8217s unusual
Android phone launched in the USA this week.pp styletextalign
justifyDescribed as device with 4in1 versatility, the Echo has two
3.58243 touchscreens, earning it the title of the world8217s first
dualscreen Android smartphone. With the phone closed, it looks and
performs exactly like a regular Android phone, but flip it open and
where you8217d normally expect to find a QWERTY keyboard, you8217ll
find another screen instead.pp styletextalign justifyWhile the
screen can be angled towards you, it gets really clever when you
lay it flat and lock it together. Kyocera call this 8216Tablet
Mode8217 as the two screens form one 4.78243 touchscreen with an
800 x 960 pixel resolution. Here, seven apps 8211 such as email,
SMS and the web browser 8211 have been specially configured to make
use of the increased screen real estate. This means the keyboard
could appear on the bottom with your typed words above, or a web
page will spread over the two screens to form one picture.pp
styletextalign justifyThis certainly makes the Echo stand out, as
it looks like a Nintendo DS smartphone, but as to how useful the
two screens will really be, we8217re not sure. Other features
include a 5 megapixel camera with HD video, GPS, WiFi, a microSD
card slot and Bluetooth 2.1. Inside is a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor
and the phone runs Android 2.2.pp styletextalign
justifyUnfortunately, the Echo is being launched exclusively on
Sprint in the USA, meaning it8217s a CDMA phone and isn8217t
compatible with most European networks. Depending on its success
8211 and Kyocera8217s ambitions outside the US 8211 perhaps
they8217ll engineer a GSM version in the future. If they did, would
you want to give this smartphoneDStablet hybrid a trypp
