(More customer

stars. The machine is great, and I found my error on how to get
customer service. Looking again at the product page, I saw an
"other products from HCI Fitness" link. HCI Fitness is in Seattle,
and looks like who I'd contact to resolve any further service
problems. It certainly isn't obvious from what's inside the box,
but now I know and feel much more confident about the machine.
Below is my original review:
There is only one reason I'm not giving this product five stars. On
my first workout on this machine, I got about 2/3 through when
suddenly the computer displayed an "E-2" error. I tried power
cycling the machine, but "E-2" came back. That's when I went to the
manual to look for customer service.
The only contact info of any kind that I found was the company
website. The website URL is shared with "Zeta & Co" auto parts,
and clicking through to Proteus Fitness revealed a pretty basic and
Taiwan-based website. I could either call or email Taiwan. I chose
email. To the company's credit, I received a response in 24 hours,
with a Word doc with pictures on what I might look for to
troubleshoot the E-2 error. As it turns out, in that time my
husband unplugged and plugged the machine back in several times and
the error cleared itself. We think it isn't a computer problem, but
rather perhaps something with the magnetic resistance getting stuck
that aborted the workout program. But what if it hadn't worked out?
What if it's flawed in some way still? How would I get this machine
fixed? They really need a U.S. customer service line or something
that instills a little more confidence.
We've had a couple error-free workouts on the machine since. The
machine itself is fantastic... smooth mechanical operation,
well-constructed. The workout programs are great. We especially
like that they aren't fixed length... you can choose the workout
profile and separately the workout time and one will scale to the
other. So far, we're keeping the machine, but I'm checking Amazon's
return policy so I know what I'm dealing with. If it remains error
free before a return period is up, we'll probably roll the dice and
keep it. We love it that much. If it craps out again, sadly it will
have to go back to Amazon rather than have some reasonable repair
path available.

Proteus PAR-5500 Commercial
Club Series Rowing Machine
Get fit without trudging to the gym day after day with the Proteus
PAR-5500 Club Series rowing machine. The professional-grade
PAR-5500 makes use of both air and magnetic resistance systems to
create a genuine rowing experience. The air resistance system
provides an "on the water" feel, so your body will believe you're
rowing on the Thames even if your mind doesn't. The linear magnetic
resistance system, meanwhile, provides the strength and smoothness
you've come to expect from gym machines.
The machine also includes a comfortable ergo seat with unique seat
rollers located on the underside of the seat rail. This not only
prevents dust and dirt from gathering on the rail, but it also
helps the seat glide exceptionally well with each stroke. And
thanks to the pivoting foot pedals--which offer five adjustable
levels--you can easily optimize your position on the rowing
machine. As a whole, the PAR-5500's ergonomic, high-quality design
makes it perfectly suited for both cardio workouts and endurance
training.
To keep your workouts on track, the PAR-5500 offers an oversized,
easy-to-read LCD display panel and an advanced computer with 16
levels of electronically controlled resistance. Users can also turn
to the 15 preset workout programs, which include six preprogrammed
workouts, four user-controlled workouts, four heart-rate-controlled
workouts, and one watt-control program. During each program, the
computer will automatically increase and decrease the resistance
level according to the profiles shown on the LCD display. Other
features include a built-in cooling fan, transport wheels for easy
transport, and a folding frame for storage.

(More customer
reviews)The bike itself is fabulous. I took a lead from
a recent Consumer Report story, and checked out this and several
similar models.
We settled on the Schwinn because it was the best of its price
range, and we didn't want to spend three times as much on our first
exercise equipment purchase; if we stick with it, and wear this one
down over time, we might go for something more gym-worthy in a few
years.
We went with the recumbent because we figured that it would entice
us to use the thing more than an upright, which is a bit less
comfortable without adding to the lower-body workout, and possibly
more stressful on the back.
We went with the 213 because it was the leading Schwinn recumbent,
highly rated by CR, in stock, and on sale.
The bike itself is great: more comfortable than any other I tried
in the store, with plenty of routine options, sufficient
resistance, and well-placed handles (two sets, one with palm-read
pulse sensors). The book/magazine rack leaves a bit to be desired,
but works okay; the bin under it, which one might use for keys or
change in a gym, works nice for an MP3 player.
Something that I didn't notice in the store, in reviews, or in
online descriptions is that there are two water bottle slots under
the seat. I'm not sure why you'd want two for an in-home stationary
bike, but perhaps other users sit on this thing for much longer
than I do.
The small parts (screws, bolts, and washers, plus three nifty
included tools, the only ones you'll need) come on two pieces of
cardboard, separated into marked boxes which are numbered according
to the steps in the instructions, then shrink-wrapped to hold
things in place. Popping the pieces out of the back of the
cardboard, one step at a time or one screw at a time, was a big
relief over many assemble-from-a-box kits I've done (desks, beds,
shelves, etc.), with no time needed to sort out the various sizes,
compare them to charts, etc.
The instructions themselves, however, were a bit of a quandry. Part
30 is labelled and discussed as part 3. Part 16 is referred to as
Part 13. Additionally, in "stage 2" (the 13 steps are divided into
8 stages), the instructions say to bolt the seat support slide (an
H-shaped piece) to the seat support bar, when they should say to
bolt the support slide to the seat front; they also don't not that
you'll need to place the joined support slide and seat front onto
the support bar before attaching the seat back. Also, the
instructions for attaching the front floor support bar don't make
clear that the wheels should point forward.
Further, some screws are already assembled and have to be removed.
The instructions note that this is true for the four screws in the
back of the "main unit", but not that it also applies to the four
bolts that attach the main unit support bar to the main crank
housing.
The assembly thus took an hour or so. But then I was up and riding
(a 15-min, low intensity "ride in the park" to start) instantly.
The programming is pretty straightforward, and the menu system is
easily navigable. And, finally but perhaps most importantly, the
bike is soooooo quiet that, if i could kill the "beeps" that happen
while surfing the menu, I could otherwise ride while my wife
sleeps.

About Recumbent Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy
new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular
options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of
riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the
comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much
space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can
provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from
beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for
a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise
bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read
a magazine while you work out.
The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a
recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full
ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck
and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an
upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to
quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term
exercise program.

AFG 18.0 AXT Ascent
Trainer
The AFG 18.0 AXT ascent trainer is a revolution in home exercise
equipment, with a unique design that can help any user, at any
level, achieve an effective workout whether they want to simulate a
leisurely walk or an intense stadium climb. The ascent trainer is
built somewhat like an elliptical trainer, but with an entirely new
range of motion. The dynamic design starts with an increased stride
length, which fully engages your glutes, hamstrings, and core
stabilizer muscles. When combined with the dual handles, the
trainer delivers a total-body, low-impact workout no matter how
high you set the incline. In addition, the ascent trainer's pedals
don't ride on the wheels, eliminating the friction common to other
trainers. This helps produce a more comfortable motion, so you'll
feel like working out longer and more often. Third, AFG uses a
heavy-duty flywheel in the ascent trainer to eliminate bounce. This
minimizes the impact on your joints, helping the 18.0 AXT move
beyond the limitations imposed by traditional trainers and
unleashing a powerful new potential.
The 18.0 AXT also offers an electronic incline that simulates true
walking, running, or even stadium-climbing movements for all levels
of users. If you're brand new to fitness training, you can choose
the walking motion to get you up to speed. If you're a seasoned
veteran, however, you can opt instead for interval stadium training
and condition yourself for an upcoming half-marathon. The choice is
in your hands. Other details include 10 preprogrammed workouts, a
built-in iPod/MP3 holder in the console, and a wireless chest strap
for heart rate monitoring.
Specifications:
Resistance range: 1 to 16
Flywheel: 23 pounds
Stride length: 19 to 21 inches

(More customer
reviews)We bought this at a local store because they had
a great rebate and let us take one home on the spot. I recommend
trying several different brands and models to find which one you
like. We tried the Nautilus 2000, several of the Life Fitness
models and a Precor. The Precor elliptical was nice with the
adjustable incline, but required more use of your ankles and knees
because of it. I was looking for a good aerobic workout with smooth
motions and found it with the Life Fitness.
The Nautilus 2000 would have been fine, too, however their company
stability is a bit shaky right now. Also their customer service has
been rated poorly.
Life Fitness is a solid company with a great product. My parents
have had the X3 for 9 years and it's still going strong. Our new X3
has the advanced console, quite a step up from 9 years ago. It's
super smooth, very quiet, easy on your joints and has a full range
of options from manual to a variety of preprogrammed modes.
The advantages of it over the X1 would be: covered pinch points in
the back (only important if you have small children), bearings
instead of bushings, making long term maintenance easier, and
cushioned footpads on the X3. With the rebate the prices of the two
got very close together so we went with the X3.
I'm looking forward to a lot of years with this unit. We were
advised that most ellipticals should last you between 8-12 years.
With the free 5 yr warranty we got that should get us most of the
way there. If you find a deal on amazon, great. If not, try
negotiating with your local fitness store for either a price break,
or free warranty, free mat, or all of the above. There is room to
wiggle on price for many of them.
We also got 24 month 0% financing. I advise that also as this unit
isn't cheap.
Overall, I think ALL ellipticals are way overpriced, but this one
does feel like a solid machine.
When considering where to put it in your house, don't forget about
height. We were unable to put it in the basement with our other
equipment because the ceiling is too low. Measure yourself standing
on it at the highest point in the cycle to see if you have enough
head room. This one has a 6 1/2 foot length, but we need over 7 1/2
feet for height.

Life Fitness X3 Elliptical
Cross-Trainer with Advanced Workout Console
Enjoy a total body workout without venturing off to the gym day
after day with the Life Fitness X3 elliptical cross trainer. Life
Fitness trainers are recognized by health club operators across the
country for their smooth, natural performance. Whereas other
elliptical machines often deliver an uneven resistance
transfer--producing an uncomfortable, choppy feeling that
interrupts the rhythm of your workout--the X3's WhisperStride
technology keeps things remarkably quiet while producing a smooth,
fluid motion, a must for low-impact workouts. In addition, the X3
works hard to keep you engaged and focused while you exercise. The
advanced workout console offers a host of challenging workout
programs, including sport-specific training or interactive heart
rate monitoring using the Lifepulse digital hand sensors or Polar
wireless chest strap. You can also save the name, age, weight, and
workout preferences for multiple users in your household, or create
custom workouts for each user.
The X3 accommodates users of all shapes and sizes thanks to its
oversized pedals, which ensure that no matter how big, small, wide,
or narrow your feet are, you can still expect the same club-quality
experience. The pedals are also optimally spaced to minimize the
lateral hip shifting that could put stress on your lower back. Best
of all, the X3 disperses the efforts throughout both your legs and
arms, helping your burn more calories with less perceived exertion.
Other features include an ErgoGrip stationary handlebar that
provides stability during lower-body-only workouts, an oversized
dual accessory tray with a built-in reading rack, a 300-pound
capacity, a 20-inch stride length, and an easy-to-read LCD display
that tracks your distance, speed, calories burned, level, time,
heart rate, target heart rate, METs, and watts. Equipped with a
welded steel frame, the X3 measures 65 by 62 by 27 inches (W x H x
D), weighs 205 pounds, and carries the following warranties:
lifetime on the frame, three years on parts, and one year on
labor.

because of a low basement ceiling. I have to say the quality and
construction seem very sturdy. It was pretty easy to put together
and works as advertised.
On Racks in general, if you are debating between a traditional
weight bench and weights. Don't do it, get yourself a rack, bench
and an Olympic weight set, you'll be glad you did. other setups are
just a waste of money in my opinion.

(More customer

study of this type of equipment and a bang for your buck attitude.
I cannot say I am unhappy at all. I weigh around 200 pounds. I
recived the apparatus and took it home. I also bought a 4x8 rubber
mat for it. It was very easy to assemble and I had already looked
at the engineering of it so I knew it would be stable.
I use it all the time. The dip arms could have been engineered so
they would not move at all but I have it tightened up and it really
isnt an issue. I would have raised the back pad and made the arms
about one or two inches longer but it works fine for me. I would
recommend this item for anyone up to about 220 pounds but not much
more. I have a dip belt which I use to do pullups and I have put
about 70 pounds on the belt and done pullups with no problems
whatsoever. I am very pleased with it especially at the price.
Thank You for asking.
I have used every aspect of it and it is a solid viable home
workout item for people wishing to have something when they cannot
get to the gym. The execises done with it are very important to all
around strength in performance atheletes. So get off your butts and
buy this people and quit fooling yourselves that
pullups, dips, crunches and pushups are not needed to win in todays
competitions of virtually every physical sport.

(More customer
reviews)I've written a review on the e95 as well - I'll
say go read that rather than have me write a complete novel here.
:-)
After deciding the e95 had some features I didn't like and that the
e35 would suit my needs but I'd like just a little beefier machine
and a computer with a numeric keypad - I ordered this one directly
from Sole. The box came... it was HUGE. The delivery guy helped
slide it down our cellar steps so getting it in the house wasn't
too hard but you might want to spring the extra cash for in-home
delivery if your situation is more complicated. (The box is about
the size of a small-ish fridge... I've turned it in to the best box
house ever for my son. If you have kids, they'll love this)
Once it was in - assembly took maybe 2 hours but we weren't exactly
trying to break any records. Assembly is very straight forward and
the nuts and bolts are packaged in a tray with little compartments
so you have just what you need for steps 1, 2, 3, and 4.
One complaint about assembly - this beast is HEAVY. Which is a good
thing, for when you're working out on it - but I look at this thing
and I think, my god, it's never coming back out of this house. We
bought this house 3 months ago and I am not sure it's our "forever"
house. So I wonder if an elliptical adds to the value of a house.
Not that we're going anywhere any time soon with the market having
just dropped but... I do wonder, will it ever come back out.
Working out on this machine is AWESOME. It compares *very*
favorably to the LifeFitness machines I used at the gym before I
got pregnant with my twins. They're now 8 months and I had to stop
using the elliptical pretty early in my pregnancy so I'm really not
in the best shape now - and this machine kicks my butt. Which is
good! But it's kind of humiliating. I am using resistance level 3
for now and hope to get better soon.
So far I only use the manual setting on the computer and my one
complaint is you can't add time on the fly like you could with the
LifeFitness machines. You have to wait until the program is over
and then you can hit "start" to do it again - but it does keep
going from your current distance and calories burned, at least, so
it's LIKE just adding time - it would just be nice to be able to
add time. (For all I know though maybe you can - and I just haven't
figured it out. Such a small annoyance, though!) (Update - I've
figured out if you want, you can just hit "start" twice when you
get on and it will count up, rather than down, so you can just keep
going as long as you like)
All in all I am very pleased with this machine. I can't help but
wonder if the e35 wouldn't have worked out just as well but I
wanted a little beefier flywheel and I have it.
The only mechanical issue we've had with the machine is you need to
keep the tracks greased or it makes a noise like styrofoam coming
out of a cardboard box. EEEK! Machine comes with a tube of grease
(actually a white tube with "LUBE" written on it in large black
letters, the most generic thing you can imagine... we thought it
was hilarious...)
Great machine, very pleased.

Sole E55 Elliptical Trainer
(2009-2010 Model)
Enjoy an efficient full-body workout without heading to the gym
with the Sole E55 elliptical trainer. Boasting a heavy 30-pound
flywheel, a high gear ratio not found on most comparable models,
and a pair of upper body handles, the E55 delivers an extremely
smooth workout with plenty of top-end resistance. Users will also
appreciate the unique oversize and adjustable foot pedals, which
were designed in collaboration with a leading physical therapist
and sports enthusiast. The pedals are not only extra large, but
also feature a 2-degree inward slope that reduces the ankle and
knee stress that's common in other elliptical machines. The
collaboration also produced a revolutionary foot pedal angle
adjustment not found on any other elliptical. Taking into account
that not everyone walks the same way, Sole engineers made the E55's
pedals adjustable to fit the way you walk. This also reduces the
likelihood of numb toes and sore Achilles tendons.
Workout specifics include 16 resistance levels, 10 total programs
(including two custom and two heart-rate programs), and a 20-inch
stride length. Perhaps the handiest feature from a user
perspective, however, is the easy-to-use electronic console, which
integrates a blue backlit LCD display, a cooling fan, and a water
bottle holder. The E55, which offers a maximum weight capacity of
350 pounds, carries the following warranties: lifetime on the

About Elliptical Trainers Elliptical trainers represent the next
wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines
and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions
experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing,
elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while
building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise
position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing
in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine.
With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot
pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth
and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees,
back, and hips.
Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels
and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline
and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you
to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs,
all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a
magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own

Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment
of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs,
forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a
lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a
monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and
heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and
bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular
training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical
trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower
body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs,
and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive
joints.

(More customer
reviews)To open this review I would like to explain the
service and process I needed to go thru to get the equipment up and
running, Then a product review.
I purchaced this in the middle of march and it was delivered 4 days
late in a box that looked very torn up. It was only being held
together by the plastic bands, the box had been torn apart at both
ends. Because I received it late I did not have time to assemble it
for a week. When I began to assemble I noticed that I was missing
screws, bolts, and the 'included' tools. So I went online to ask
about this. On the Stamina website a form is provided for serial
number to be included with any request. I went over every part
included and every page of the manual and could not come up with a
number. I found a place in the manual that told me where to look
for the sticker with the number, but I did not have any such
sticker. I sent the request anyway with my explination. After 2
weeks I had no response so I called their support number. A
friendly person told me that she could see my request in the system
but there was a delay getting parts for this item because it was
receiving a lot of orders for parts. A package was eventually
shipped to me and it included almost everything I needed. I tried
to assemble again and got as far as step 6. I needed a carrige bolt
to go thru the beam that was not included. I decided to go around
stamina on this one and purchaced the bolt at Lowes. The
instructions are very plain and would do well to take a page from
IKEA and give a few more pictures.
Now my bike/rower is working and ready. 2 months after
purchace.
A metric socket set is a big help if you want to assemble quickly.
The provided slim flimsy wrench is a pain.
PRODUCT REVIEW.
The bike / rower is completly as described in function. The
computer however is very poor. The handheld heartrate monitor is
like a carnival weight guesser. I am a very in shape 27 year old
and i can check my heart rate before i begin working out and it
will read 95-105. during my workout the numbers jump all over from
70 to 115 with no reason. I have tested this theroy many times
before adding this to my review, it does not measure a good BPM.
The buttons other than MODE do not function and must be for
asthetics. The bike display does turn on when the rower or bike is
used and turns off by itself as it should. The calories burned is
very optomistic compared to the gear at my gym. The other readouts
are good but when taken as a whole I largly disregard the readouts
altogether except for time of workout. Needless to say the computer
here is the large dissappointment of the item.
The magnetic system for bike and rower are good. It provides a good
range of resistance but I don't beleive that the resistance is tied
into the 'calories burned' computer as level 8 registers same as
level 2.
There could be a tougher setting too, as for rowing at maximum
resistance is still a bit soft for the strong arm. I was hoping for
some extra excercise by holding the row bar palm up and pulling for
curls but there isnt enough 'weight' to make this worthwhile for
me.
The rower is very quiet! This is a redeeming quality that the bike
really needed. The bike is quiet too but can get clanky if you
accellerate hard as the weight shifts laterally. This is rare
however.
The rollers and pedals seem up to the task and look and feel
durable. I will update if needed if parts wear out prematurly. The
fold up is quick and very easy. I actually had no intention of ever
folding this away after I assembled it. Now i realize how
effortless and quick it is I have been folding it in the corner.
The seat is adaquate and built for the 20 minute workout. Beyond a
half hour I find the firmness too much to continute to sit,
especially when using as a bike. I have boney hips however and I do
find a lot of workout equipment seats too wide and hard.
I weigh 180 and am 6'3" I can extend fully with the rower and never
hit the rear stopper. Also I have plenty of legroom to lock in the
bike and could actually extend the seat and lock it in a position
for an even loger legged person. I wish cars were this roomy.
The item is easy to handle, lightweight enough to move alone. I am
overall glad to have it and hope it stands up to continued use, it
looks like it will. Well worth the money just for its solid feel
and apparent quality. Apart from getting it up and running I can
definatly reccomend this piece of equipment. ITEM 4/5CUSTOMER
SERVICE 2/5Overall 3.

Stamina Conversion II
Recumbent Bike / Rower
Featuring a battery-operated monitor displaying speed, distance,
time, calories burned, and heart rate, this two-in-one machine
combines a recumbent bicycle and a rower for two types of
low-impact strength and cardio workouts. Moving a pin switches from
one mode to the other. In either bicycle or rower mode, magnetic
resistance provides a quiet, smooth workout, whose intensity can be
varied by turning an eight-position knob without interrupting a
workout. A foam-padded seat glides on a ball-bearing roller system
along an aluminum rail during rowing, and adjusts to fit different
leg lengths for recumbent biking. For bicycling, oversized pedals
and adjustable foot-straps hold feet securely to improve pulling
motion, in addition to pushing motion. For rowing, a heavy-duty
nylon strap and foam grips keep hands stable and comfortable.
Assembled, the machine measures 74-1/4 inches long x 23-1/2 inches
wide x 34 inches high and weighs 108 pounds. Folded for storage, it
measures 34 inches long x 23-1/3 inches wide x 56-1/2 inches
high.

(More customer
reviews)I purchased this item as part of a gold box
promotion. The bike is nearly fully assembled. It took about half
an hour to get it assembled. The instructions for both assembly and
operation are not very good. There is an addendum (at least in
mine) packed in the instruction book. It is very unclear. What I
painfully discovered is that the lever that tightens the seat
position needs to be adjusted before mounting the seat. If you
don't get it in exactly the right place, the seat has to be removed
before you can lock the seat into position.
In terms of operation, the bike has a few issues. The center column
is impossible to keep tight so the console wobbles. The pulse
monitoring sensors almost never work. The eddy current resistence
works very well. The seat and the bike itself are rugged (and heavy
-- 120 lbs 60 kg). Parts do tend to loosen and the connections
between them are not well thought out.
For the money (when it was on sale), this exercise bike is a good
deal. The console display is very similar to the ones I have seen
in gyms. The bike has some good pre-programmed exercise
routines.
Just be aware that this bike will need periodic tightening. This is
a home machine and is not as rugged as the exercise bikes found in
the typical gym.

documentation is great and it was packaged pretty well. However,
once assembled, it would wobble. I tried the washer trick the other
guy suggested, with no luck (actually made it worst)
What I ended up doing was putting on 3 of the 4 rubber feet
(instead of putting all of them on). I was able to resolve the
wobble this way.
Once I fixed the wobble, I've found this bench to be rock solid. I
am 200lbs w/no issues

trainer you will see advertised on infomercials at night. Whats the
.001% difference? Its the name on the product sticker. Thats it.
Also you will not get the iFit cards that the other one comes with
$30 value. It will use those cards if you go buy them. If you have
Amazon Prime the shipping is free.
So about this trainer. I have had it for 2 weeks now and use it
every day. The deck is very forgiving to my obese frame. I use
cross-trainer shoes and the impact on my knees is barely noticeable
compared to running on the road. Honestly the most incline I have
been able to pull off is roughly 20%. After that it feels as though
I am going to slide off the deck, probably wont but it feels that
way and this thing goes another 20% incline over that... can you
say billy goat?
The hand grips do not register my pulse correctly. It was so off I
went to my doctors for an EKG because I thought I had an
arrhythmia. Turns out I didnt, so I ended up buying Polar A4 Pulse
Heart Rate Monitor Watch which now has me squarely in my peak zone
when I am exercising.
When you get it the assembly is pretty straightforward. Keep an eye
on the 5foot coated wires, you will need to use them to pull the
hand sensors and other cables through the arms.
My biggest gripe is with the shipper. The delivery person wanted to
leave it in my driveway or put it in my garage. I needed it in my
house because it was going to rain. My back is in pretty bad shape
and it took some convincing to get him to at least put it in the
doorway for me. They SHOULD have had 2 people to deliver this. I
did not expect it to be set up, just put in the room I was going to
assemble it in. The crate is massive and I guess it weighs in
excess of 300 lbs. DO yourself a favor and disassemble it
completely somewhere and carry in the lighter pieces. I was not
sure of the amount of effort to do this, and that is why I wanted
it brought in my house. Realistically, I could have taken off 50%
of the parts and brought them in and saved my back a little. So,
just take it apart where they drop it and carry it all in.
Pros:
>> Very comfortable deck
>> Varied and interesting workouts without the iFit
cards.
>> Can use iFit cards
>> Fantastic fan that blows directly on your face/neck while
exercising

FreeMotion X3 Treadmill
Incline Trainer
Take your treadmill workout to the next level with the FreeMotion
X3 interactive treadmill, which offers an incline of up to 30
percent. When set at its maximum incline, the X3 treadmill burns up
to three times the calories as compared to walking on a flat
surface. This means you can burn a ton of calories without having
to run, reducing the impact on your joints with every workout. The
X3 is powered by a DurX 2.8-horsepower motor, which employs an
axial fan to reduce noise as it cools the treadmill's internal
components. The fan not only extends the motor's life, but it also
enhances your workout environment, letting you watch TV or listen
to music without upping the volume. The DuraSoft cushioning system,
meanwhile, reduces joint impact by 15 percent compared to road
running, delivering the perfect balance of comfort and safety. And
with easy-to-use one-touch controls for both speed (0 to 10 miles
per hour) and incline (0 to 30 percent), you can increase or
decrease the intensity of your workout at a moment's notice.
The X3 also offers a number of interactive features to amplify your
workout experience. The Graffix Hi-Altitude 3D display, for
instance, lets you view your workout like never before. Now you can
view your progress as you climb a virtual mountainside, change
angles to a different perspective, or zoom in close enough to view
an animated figure running up the trail with you. At the same time,
the display still tracks all the standard workout metrics, such as
speed, time, distance, vertical feet, and calories burned. In
addition, the treadmill includes a Random Trail Generator, which
takes parts of the nine built-in workouts and rearranges them into
a totally new workout experience. And if that's not enough
customization, the treadmill is compatible with iFit workout cards.
Each card is designed by a certified personal trainer and plugs
directly into the treadmill's console, automatically adjusting your
resistance. All told, iFit workouts can help you lose weight, feel
great, and improve your overall performance in just eight
weeks.
Other features include a roomy, non-slip climbing deck with
20-by-51-inch treadbelt; an iPod-compatible music port; a built-in
sound system that produces a broad range of frequencies; a
CardioGrip heart rate monitor with sensors built into the
handlebars; a CoolAire workout fan that helps you work out longer
and more comfortably; and a 250-pound weight capacity. The X3
treadmill measures 36 by 58 by 67 inches (W x H x D), weighs 215
pounds, and carries a lifetime warranty on the motor and a one-year
warranty on parts and labor.

(More customer
reviews)I was somewhat disheartened by the two earlier
reviews, sounds like the first person didn't even have one but felt
compelled to share I guess . . . I purchased one anyway and have
been using it for a few weeks. My first run with it was the Country
Music Marathon in Nashville. 26.08 miles was the final reading. Not
too bad for right out of the box. Pace did seem to jump around but
I have changed the record rate to 3 seconds and it seemed to fix
the problem. I wore the receiver on the back of my shorts (where I
usually wear my ipod) - probably not the best location and maybe
why the marathon distance was off, but I haven't got around to
trying the arm band yet. The receiver is only slightly bulkier than
my Nano, not really noticeable when clipped to shorts. Takes 20-40
seconds to lock.
I had an rs200 that really worked well so I was familiar with the
menu structure. It does take a while to get used to but with all of
the display and measurement options, I was able to find a setup
that gives me exactly what I am looking for. I was using the web
based software for recording my data from the rs 200 and haven't
used the PC based software that came with this new watch yet. Too
bad Polar doesn't support Mac . . . The WIND heart rate strap is
coded so it doesn't interfere with other monitors but as mentioned
before, it doesn't work with most gym equipment either but you can
still just wear the watch to check your HR. I am thinking about
getting the footpod for gym workouts. Once every other day or so, I
will accidentally hit the start button but I always hear the beep
and turn it off. Has a function where you can identify the shoe (up
to 3) you are running in that day - great if you alternate between
shoes and want to track mileage on each.
All in all a good system. I wear the watch daily - it's not nearly
as large as the Garmin 405 (the other option I considered). I would
have gone with the Garmin if it was able to be worn as a regular
watch and you didn't have to recharge the battery periodically. 4
stars for lack of Mac support.
Hope this helps.

Polar RS800G3 Multisport GPS
Computer Heart Rate Monitor Watch with FREE USB 2.0
Interface
Boost your training regimen with Polar's RS800G3 multisport
training system, the most comprehensive planning and analysis tool
for athletes who train across multiple _disciplines. The RS800G3
bundle includes a wristwatch, a heart rate transmitter, a software
CD, and a GPS sensor, and is ideal for multisport athletes who want
the ability to track speed and distance measurements in a variety
of active pursuits, such as running, cycling, hiking, kayaking,
cross-country skiing, and inline skating. By employing the
RS800G3's integrated information setup, athletes can plan their
routines, measure their bodies' response, and analyze their
performance against personal goals. And because the RS800G3
provides the data that helps athletes avoid over- and
under-training, users can train in the most efficient manner
possible to achieve peak performance and fitness.
Although all of the items are important, it's the wristwatch that
acts as the heart of the system, with such features as a highly
accurate wireless heart rate gauge, a built-in fitness test, an
interval trainer, a host of calculating options (including average
and maximum heart rate, altitude and ascent details, and a
countdown timer), and the ability to record 99 exercise files. In
effect, the watch serves as a digital personal trainer, helping
guide an athlete through detailed workouts of his or her own
design.
When combined with the G3 GPS sensor, however, the system is even
more robust. Incorporating the SiRFstarIII chipset, the G3 GPS
sensor talks wirelessly to the RS800 watch to let athletes easily
measure speed and distance for a variety of outdoor sports. The G3
GPS sensor is also water-resistant and weighs only 80 grams, making
it tough and light enough to withstand training in the harshest of
conditions. Simply strap the GPS sensor to your arm, a belt, or the
top of a backpack and you're set.
Finally, Polar's ProTrainer 5 software--a Windows-based application
for training planning and analysis--lets athletes and coaches
easily create and share specific training plans and analyze
recorded data. Users simply transfer the data between the computer
and the wristwatch via a wireless infrared signal. The software can
upload as many as 21 planned training sessions to the wristwatch,
along with insightful graphs to track performance.
About Polar The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was
invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish
National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity
training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties.
By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not
only for performance training needs, but also for achieving
everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate
training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday
people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among
consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company
is committed to not only producing the best products, but also
being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based
exercise.

The adjustable dipping bars are fantastic! rock solid and sturdy
due to turn knobs that hold the uprights firmly in place unlike the
wobbly and potentially dangerous uprights of ironmind's vulcan

Ideal for benching, squats and seated presses. One can also

(More customer
reviews)FYI the picture shown here on Amazon is of an
older revision of the bench - every other website I have found that
sells it has a picture of the current version. From what I've read,
there have been three versions of this bench over the years.
The bench is very adjustable and made up of good quality components
- thick sheet metal tubes, solid fasteners, comfortable padding. It
is definitely solid and can clearly handle a lot of weight, but the
bench is a little wobbly side to side due to the play in the pivot
points in the frame. But in practice it really isn't bad, I don't
even notice it when my weight is on the bench and I'm doing presses
or any of the exercises that I do.
Assembly instructions are just diagrams, and to do it right, you'll
need to spend a few minutes matching up the fasteners with the
numbers in the legend. It's not difficult, just don't skip this
step and jump right into putting it together. If you're used to
working on cars and reading factory service manuals, it's really
easy. Took me about 15 minutes.
This bench combined with the power rack makes for a versatile home
gym. You can use them together for presses, or move the bench out
to do squats in the rack, or use the bench by itself for lots of
exercises. Much better than a fixed rack/bench combo.
In addition to the incline adjustments on the seat and back pads,
the base of the frame has an adjustment with two positions that
moves the whole bench forward or rearward. This is for use in the
rack, where you use the forward position with the bench flat or
declined for normal bench press, or the rearward position with the
bench inclined for shoulder/military press. The bench needs to be
in the forward position to be stable for normal flat bench press.
If you don't put the frame in the rearward position for military
press, you won't be able to move the bench far enough back in the
rack to reach the bar (too far behind your head).

(More customer

write one for the Freemotion f5.6 and its manufacturer, ICON Health
& Fitness Inc. due to the awful experience I am having with
this "lemon" of a machine. I purchased it in September 2010 from
FitnessBlowout and it took a month to get delivered. In the two
months that I have had it, it has not worked properly once. First
it was the track Shield would not align properly, causing the wheel
to scrape along the track shield. This apparently is a known issue
because they had a replacement kit to send out. Next it was a screw
on the handlebar that would not stay tightened. The solution for
this was to glue it in place...how long do they expect that to
work??? Incidentally, the same thing is happening on the opposite
side. Last but not least, the power cord is faulty. The display
turns on and off randomly. ICON is going to send a replacement per
the warranty but will not expedite shipping unless I pay for it.
According to customer service, that's the company's policy - no
exceptions.
So to recap, I paid $1200 for a piece of exercise equipment that
has not worked properly once in 2 months and rather than spend $15
to overnight the part to me and resolve the issue ICON Health &
Fitness has decided to further agitate an already severely agitated
customer. It boggles my mind how incredibly short-sighted some
companies can be.
My advice would be to keep looking for a piece of equipment with a
better (and longer) track record and a manufacturer that actually
believes the customer comes first...I wish I did.
