Some of them enjoy working out while listening to music while some opt to unwind in coffee shops while hearing really relaxing songs. Whatever their purpose is, one thing is certain. Wireless headphones are very portable and you don’t have to worry about all of those nagging wires.  I listen to a lot of audio on my Itunes at home.  Unfortunately, the types of programs that I listen to are in the New Age and Self-Help genre’ and my girlfriend has absolutely no interest in hearing this type of information so this is one of the best uses that I’ve found for using my wireless headphones.  I can just lie in bed without the snaking wires and comfortably listen to my favorite programs without disturbing her which is quite nice.

Battery Life

Also, when buying your portable wireless headphones you want to make sure that it comes with batteries that are rechargeable.  Some wireless headphones drain the battery life very fast so you will need extra batteries or carry the small base station with you wherever you go.  It’s always a good idea to know the estimated battery life per charge.

Wireless headphones can two main ways of transferring signals – infrared signals or radio signals.  If the pair of headphones use infrared signals to connect to your audio device you may periodically experience a disconnect because these types of signals are easily transferred through dense objects such as walls.  On the other hand, radio signals are much more reliable means to communicate between the audio device and the wireless headphones.  The later headphones describe are more expensive but definitely worth the extra bucks.

Lastly, when selecting a pair of wireless headphones you will have to decide on a style that works best for you.  Ear buds are typically cheap but not very comfortable and if you plan on having these in your ears for any length of time I would avoid this style.  Clip on wireless headphones are usually used with cell phones and employ the bluetooth technology.  If comfort and style are important to you then choose the medium ear cup style.  Finally, a full-sized cup wireless headphone will be much heavier and usually come with a nice noise-canceling feature.

Pioneer HDJ 2000 Review

Pioneer HDJ 2000 Review

The Pioneer HDJ-2000 are premium headphones that truly reflects Pioneer true brand image.  The ear cups are made of premium leather that are stuffed with memory foam that was used by NASA as one time and now is used in high end pillows.  The memory foam is designed to mold to the shape of your ears.

Don’t count of these headphones breaking easily as the actual hinge construction is made of a magnesium which is a light-weight alloy.  It has a detachable mini xlr cable so if you misplace or break it all you’ll need to do is replace the cable. The HDJ-2000′s are about as indestructible pair of DJ headphones that you can get your hands on.

The Legendary Performance of the Shure srh840

If you’ve owned a pair of Shure headphones before I don’t have to preach to you about their unprecedented quality.  However, if you are new to the DJ headphone world and haven’t had the pleasure of enjoying the listening quality of these headphones there is no better pair to begin with than the Shure srh840‘s.

With these headphones you get a good sounding base with clean and neutral highs and lows.  The closed over the ear cups blocks out any background noise which you’ll appreciate if you’re a professional.

They come with replaceable ear pads, a quarter inch adapter and nifty headset cord that is removable.  The good thing about the cord is that it locks in place while your mixing your beats and it can easily be replaced if you somehow destroy it.

The removable cord will allow you about 10 feet of movement when plugged into the headset so there’s no fear of not being about to reach other equipment or tools you may need during recording.

These headphones are mainly aimed at the recording professional who’s use to Shure’s legendary performance and sound.  The Srh 840 will give you the consistent sound that you need when your doing your mixing plus they’re collapsible which makes for ease of portability.

If you’ve been searching for a moderately priced set of DJ headphones then you owe it yourself to give the Shure srh440‘s a try.  These are a pair of solid over the ear headphones that have good low’s and highs.  They are a bit bulky and they do come with a removable coiled cord but this is small disadvantage given the sound and durability of the headphones.  These Shure headphones fold up that makes them very portable and compact.  They also come with a nice carrying case.

There’s hardly if any sound leakage with the srh440 and very good noise isolation.  You can upgrade to a more comfortable pair of ear cups for and an additional $20.  The ear cups are not breathable and will begin to sweat after long periods of use.  You can use this set of earphones with your iPod Touch or in professional stereo equipment.

The Beats by Dre Studio Headphones are comes with a cable that allows you to use it with both your iPhone and iPod for an incredible sound.  You’ll also appreciate that cable jack that is tangle free and has an L-shape jack which breaks far less often than those straight jacks.

The headphones come with a heavy case embossed with the beats logo.  It even has a belt clip in case you want to walk around like a dork with a pair of Dj headphones hanging off your waist.

The headphones collapse easily for maximum portability.  You can get them in different colors and it you are picky like some other people you just may opt for them in white as the black glossy pair will show fingerprints and dust when that seem to only be visible when held in the light.

The Beats by Dr Dre Studio have adjustable head gear just in case you need to widen it to accommodate your head.  They also feature active noise canceling which are battery powered so that you can silence out any unwanted noise in your environment.  The battery life is fairly long only if you remember to turn the noise canceling device off when you’re done.

The ear cups can be moved up and down or side to side for easy flexibility but since they are made of plastic you can hear a creaking sound if you move about a lot.  The ear cups are over the ear which means they encompass your entire ear unlike other ear cups on the cheaper DJ headphones.  This is great because oftentimes, depending on what you’re using the headphones for, you will be wearing them for hours and you don’t want your ears to start burning.

Beats by Dre Studio are constructed of a hard plastic that some people complain about breakage but in our experience we haven’t had any problems in this area.  We take care of our DJ equipment and don’t just toss them around like a toy.

Also, there has been some complaints about leakage meaning other people will be able to hear the sound that is supposed to remain inside your ear cups.  The only recommendation to resolve this problem is don’t turn your sound up past 1/4 to 1/2 of the volume alloted.  Although the mids and lows sound quality is awesome with these headphones you don’t want everyone to hear what the artist is saying and this is perhaps the biggest downfall about this pair of DJ headphones.
