by Flight Zone. Instead they sent me the WRONG item, a case that can only hold a 10" Mixer. After contacting the company to send me the correct item, they have been completely Nonchalant and telling me that I have to cover the cost to ship them back the item and they won't cover my duty or anything.
Turns out I would pay $700 PLUS to get the correct item I have already paid for almost a month now AND the incorrect item is still being hekd up in Customs because they dont respect the customer enough to follow through on this. I haven't recieved email in weeks and NEVER a phone call even AFTER asking to escalate this to a MANAGER.
Will recommend you NEVER to use MSX ever through Amazon.
I will let you know if this situation changes.

(More customer reviews)This little unit is great for a beginner or someone on the go because it uses software as your music and effects source. I just hook it up to my laptop, pick some songs, and I'm good to go. The keys are map able so you can customize the controller, which is something you may wish to do when choosing effects. It comes with virtual dj LE edition, which is good, but you're probably going to want to upgrade to pro edition, which is about $50. Virtual dj has great functionality and is controllable by the unit. It also comes with a headphone piece so you can just use normal headphones instead of having to by dj ones if you're just going to use this at home. You'll probably want speakers; I just hook it up to my home Hi-Fi system. Great for anyone who wants to be a bedroom dj, do gigs at places like weddings, bars, house parties. However if you're working a club you should probably have more advanced gear. I would say the only drawback is the limited functionality on the effects side of things. No sample buttons, no kill switches, ect. However there are four effects specific buttons and you can map things to them, otherwise you can still control all this via the mouse/keyboard/software. Also the unit is quite light in weight, seems pretty sturdy, and comes with a hard plastic cover, which is great. In the end I think it's a great buy for someone on the go or a beginner, I know I'll probably bring it to parties and have some fun.

The DJM-400 is hands down one of the best mixers an amateur can get a hold of. It has most of the features of the higher end DJMs, but with a lot less confusion.
It's very simple to start with the 400. 2 channels, cross fader, eq...
It even comes with several effects, all of which are processed at a high quality and sound amazing, even when you crank the effect level up all the way.
It's built like a tank, but it sure is a lovely sight to look at.
For the dj on the rise, i recomend you get one of these, and a pair of CDJ-400 and you will be all set to rock out a killer set.

The entry-level Pioneer DJM-400 mixer with an all-digital mixing bus (24bit/96kHz) features seven onboard effects, including the all new In-Loop Sampler. It matches Pioneer's CDJ-200 CD turntable in both function and design, allowing DJs to expand the range of DJing and remixing. And its symmetrical design is the same size as a CDJ-200, enabling an easy fit in a compact DJ coffin.

An intelligent 24bit/96kHz sampler automatically detects the tempo of a song during playback, sampling it for a length of 4 beats then loops the sample. Since the sampled sound is in sync with the beat of the tune being played, no matter the tempo, it enables live remixing like never before. Samples are automatically stretched and compressed to match the beat. The DJM-400 stores five samples onboard for a total of 12 seconds of sample time.

Onboard effects automatically detect the beats per minute of the music and sync to the beats. The DJM-400 includes seven onboard effects: Delay, Echo, Filter, Flanger, Phaser, Robot and Roll. All effects are processed at 24bits for the highest quality sound. A new Beat Select button allows more intuitive and aggressive DJ playing and remixing. Each channel has 3-band isolator EQ with full cut capability. The EQ ranges from +9dB to -∞ (infinity) for total control of the sound.

It is perfect for my need of being a mobile dj and moving from house to house party to party. It is light but not too small. It's super easy to use and its great for new and experienced dj's. You can sync speed and beats as long as you are using the TRAKTOR software that comes with it. It is so versitile and practical because it can play off of CD's, thumb drives and your computer.
Another thing i love about it is that you can play right off your ipod. The only downside is that you cannot control the highs, mids and lows on the ipod, the only options you have are the fading.
The effects are great, built right into the deck for when you are mixing with CD's.
All around it is a great system, and for the price, it gets the job done.

(More customer reviews)I am a professional mobile DJ and I used the CD-Mix1 for about a year at least once a week on professional gigs (weddings, parties, etc.) and would definitely recommend it either for the beginning mobile DJ or as a reliable backup system. It does not have any of the features of most advanced CD players today, but it always got the job done and never faultered in operation. I would not recommend this to the club DJ who requires lots of effects and "toys", but it is a solid cd player/mixer at a reasonable price.

(More customer reviews)I use this for my portable DJ set up.I run a Windows based Laptop with Virtual DJ Pro. It separates each virtual decks into a right and left channel that I plug into a mixer via RCA cables. It provides full, clean sound with absolutely no lag. I have used this card for a couple of parties, it's small and runs off the USB port on my computer, so all I have to do plug it in and I am ready to go.
I wish it had XLR outputs though, so I could connect it directly to my JBL IONs without an external mixer. It's still a great value for the price.

(More customer reviews)I recieved this item in December 0f 2008. Within a year it was malfunctioning. Right cd player skips, shuts down, and dies without warning. According to the manual it is within warranty, but MARATHON equipment has not responded to my multiple e-mails, and they do not provide a phone number or address for support. Seems very shady to me.
I was attracted to this player for the sleek look and low price, but I won't be buying a MARATHON machine again.

(More customer reviews)I love my Hercules RMX, but as my shows are getting bigger I'm starting to produce some of my music and using more effects so I switched to the Steel. I love this mixer as I can program up to 12 effects and works great as a video mixer without paying the $6 grand for the pioneer. If I get that big, maybe I will cough up the money for the pioneer, for now this is under $250 and works great. I may one day get an effects controller to plug into my denon, for now this is the best of both worlds.

(More customer reviews)This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Although it comes with Traktor 3 LE, you can also use it with Traktor 3 Pro as well as Torq and Virtual DJ. When using with Traktor 3 Pro, all you need to do is use the .tks midi configuration file from the LE version and all of the controls will be configured for you. Check out the Traktor site for more information on how to do that.
On a PC you have some more advanced options for the sound driver than on a Mac. I use this on both systems with Traktor 3 Pro and have not had any issues. If you are thinking of getting this, do it. You won't regret it!

(More customer reviews)I have only been mixing now for a few months. This mixer is a great value. It has the essential features for any DJ to practice scratching on: variable crossfader slope, hampster switch, 3-channel EQ.
There are only two problems I have had with it. The first is that I needed to spray some of that magical electrical contact cleaner into the crossfader within the first couple of weeks. Without that the crossfader made quite a bit of noise while traveling. The other problem is that the crossfader slope is not continuously variable. You only have two settings: sharp and....not sharp. The not-so-sharp setting fades out by the center of travel. The sharp setting fades out by the first tick mark on the mixer's face. The fact that there are only two settings keeps you from making a more fine-tune customization.
Even mentioning these problems emphasizes them too much. This thing works beautifully and I am having a ton of fun with it.
