cooling ability of the unit. Out of the box, it was simple to set
up and install, although the included window exhaust adapter is not
high quality (easy enough to make a solid one yourself). The unit
has been working nights with outside temperatures between 80 and 85
and easily brings the indoor temperature of our bedroom down to 68
while the rest of the house is set to 78 on the central AC.
Pros: cost; low noise; dual hose essentially eliminates the need to
drain the unit; cooling ability.
Cons: poor window adapter

are you have at least 1 extra button (normally there are buttons
for off, on, panic, and then you run out of things to do). That 4th
button activates this switch which has a normally open / normally
closed output rated at 2A / 28VDC. The switch itself requires 9VAC
or 12VDC to run, so be sure to have voltage present to operate
it.
People often mistake that it can be programmed to operate from the
5800 series transmitter on your panel. IT CAN NOT. It only listens
for unused buttons on the wireless devices (keypad, etc) and can
enroll up to 8 devices to activate its one relay out.
I use it for a keychain mounted controller to my electric gate - it
gives me a handheld way to open the gate in addition to the
pushbutton in car garage door opener design. It is handy if I am
walking into a secure area and wish to open the gate partway to
walk through then close it behind me and engage the 1200 pound mag
locks to secure the gate.
Programming of that 4th button in your panel is an option as well
(you could have it turn on lighs via x11 or some other feature) but
be certain that the panel's receiver can hear your keyfob where you
intend to use it. Consult the ademco vista series programming
manual for further instructions here.

would give it five stars. It is well constructed and looks
fine.
The problem with this light is that its photocell does not allow
the use of compact florescent light bulbs. Outdated circuitry cause
compact florescent bulbs to flicker and burn out in less than 24
hours. The instructions do not warn the unsuspecting buyer of this
problem. I installed this light on my garage and burned out two
compact florescent bulbs before I realized that the lamp is
incompatible with energy efficient bulbs. This is a major design
flaw in a lamp designed to run approximately 10 hours/day and
certainly the manufacturer should warn buyers of this
deficiency.
The operating cost of this lamp is about $36/year using a 100w
incandescent bulb vs. $9/year using a compact florescent bulb
(assuming $.10/kwh and 10 hours/day). The extra $27/year needed to
operate this fixture with incandescent bulbs is almost the price of
purchasing a new fixture every year.
I will be replacing this lamp with one that includes both a motion
sensor and a dawn to dusk setting. Using the dawn to dusk setting
disables the motion sensor. These lamps use more modern circuitry
and work with energy efficient bulbs.

Oct 2008 (from Lowes) and it failed in Sept. 2010, less than two
years later. Not only will this freezer be filling up our landfills
with it's useless body, but it has wasted my hard-earned money,
both the money I spent to buy it and the hundreds of dollars in
expensive foods that spoiled. I do not consider a freezer that
lasts less than two years a quality product.

(More customer

I got this as a starter package along with some other Insteon
devices.
Even though this is called a SmartLinc starter kit the Dimmer
switches a that are included are the ICON Dimmer model ( not the
SwitchLinc Dimmer ). This borderline deceptive and needs to be
added to the description.
You do not save any money getting this package over buying the
parts individually and your ending up with lower quality low end
switches ( 300W instead of 600W, 1/10 the number of scenes, no
Brightness indicator, non-Adjustable Ramp Rate, 1/2 the Warranty
).
The switches have several shortfalls one being only 300W ( 250W if
two are mounted next to each other) they can only be used in small
room with less the three lightbulbs ( incandescent only ).
The included 2412N SmartLinc INSTEON Central Controller has
potential it's short comings out number it's usefulness. The web
interface is frustratingly slow ( over 15 sec delays in loading
most pages ), X10 is not directly supported other then a primitive
menu or cryptic programing commands ( eg: enter
"0263E900P10263E280" just to program a button to turn B6 on ).
I guess I will have reorder SwitchLinc switches and chuck cheap
ICON switches in a drawer or install them in a basement or
closet.

(More customer

handle a 10' ceiling. Considered the A2210 & AL2210. After
calling Werner, learned that the AL2210 is the aluminum version of
what was previously a steel ladder. It includes dampers/spring
return, but is made overseas. A2210 has springs only, but made in
U.S. Ordered the A2210 (U.S. made). The ladder itself is sturdy;
frame is a little light but satisfactory. Instructions have you
install a couple of temporary cleats on the ceiling at the ends of
the rough opening -- nail/screw into headers. They recommended
extending just enough to catch the ladder frame, but not the thin
plywood door. This could easily result in the entire unit falling
while you are attempting to attach the frame to the joists and
headers. I nailed the cleats so they were closer together, ensuring
the unit wouldn't fall during construction. You need to remove the
springs, so that you can open the door while placing on the cleats.
I did it alone -- definitely a handful. Recommend two people
minimum for the setting. When squared up and permanently installed
using screws and shims, the door didn't align properly when closed.
Had to loosen four nuts on the piano hinge, and adjust. Do not
attempt to place the unit on the cleats with the springs attached
and the door open -- it can snap closed and cause significant
damage to you and the unit. This is experience speaking! Now that
unit is installed and adjusted, it is fine. Very stiff unit that is
quite secure. Steps are a little close to the plywood door, making
footing a little dicey. Also, with a ten foot ceiling, you need to
be tall (5' 8" or more) and relatively strong to rotate the second
and third ladder segments after swinging the door down from the
ceiling. One note in summary -- be careful, and use enough people
during installation.

(More customer
reviews)The unit has a nice feature of being able to
store white and red wines at your selected temp. The size is very
good and was perfect for the area we wanted to place it. It holds
the selected temp just fine but if the power is interupted you will
need to reset your settings. It does have a few shortcomings... It
is much louder than a standard fridge given it's size. The shelves
that you must use to remove a bottle don't fit very well at all and
they will drop out of their slots while in use. These wood shelves
are all very cheaply made. The LED lights inside are all but
useless. The door must be opened fully (180 degrees) in order to
slide out a shelf to remove the bottle. We have a GE unit in
another location that is a much better unit but only has single
selected temp. It did cost nearly twice what this unit did.
If/when it dies I will not replace it with this brand or model. It
proved to point that you get what you pay for.

Thermo-Electric Digital Dual-Zone 21-Bottle Wine Chiller, Black and

Accommodating up to 21 bottles, this freestanding wine chiller
features two zones that can be individually set for accurately
controlling the temperature of both red and white wine. Its
innovative thermo-electric cooling system, which involves very few
moving parts, delivers ultra-quiet, energy-efficient operation and
protects wine from unnecessary vibration. More importantly,
thermo-electric cooling does not use ozone-depleting chemicals such
as CFC's or HCFC's, which means it's better for the environment. In
addition, the wine-cooling unit's dual-paned glass door provides
better UV protection and better insulation properties for enhanced
energy efficiency. Other highlights include a digital display with
push-button operation, wood pull-out shelves, and an easy-to-clean
design. Attractively housed in a black cabinet with stainless-steel
trim, the wine chiller measures 21-1/2 by 13-1/2 by 32-1/8 inches
and carries a one-year limited warranty.

(More customer
reviews)First, let me start by addressing the other
reviews that have been critical of the quality of the Haier
Tabletop Wine Cellar. I've used mine for over a month with no
issues, and I believe I may have an explanation for others'
perceived problems. The unit works by cycling a cooling fan on and
off as needed, so it doesn't continuously run like most
refrigerators do. Also, its thermostat is extremely particular,
i.e. if it senses that it's cold enough, you can't turn it down low
enough to force the fan to kick on. Finally, remember that this is
a wine cooler, not a mini-fridge, and that wine isn't meant to be
kept as cold as other beverages. We have our unit stored in a
pantry on the coldest corner of our house and it keeps the wine
right while barely running the fan. These circumstances could lead
to a misperception that the unit has completely stopped working
when in fact, it's just accurately having an "off" cycle. If my
Wine Cellar ever does truly stop working, I'll certainly update
this review.
Potential dependability issues aside, there are still critical
problems with the Tabletop Wine Cellar that keep it from being a
realistic solution for most people. The most immediate one is size
- when you pull it out of the box, you'll scratch your head
wondering whether or not you really picked up the model for
"Tabletop" use. Somewhere in the world, counters must be much
deeper than where I live! I can't verify the dimensions that are
quoted above, but the depth seems suspiciously small. Plus, the
instructions for the unit specify that it needs several inches of
clearance on the back and sides for ventilation. Taking this
additional space into consideration, the Cellar is about the size
of a microwave oven but much deeper. Our solution was to put it
sideways on a microwave cart in a separate room; however, having to
do so is a pretty big deviation from the way that it's advertised.
In case you're planning on building it into a cabinet or bar as a
workaround, the instructions prohibit that as well (again for
ventilation concerns).
The second issue is that even as big as the Wine Cellar is on the
outside, it's ironically cramped on the inside. Any bottle bigger
than 750 mL will not fit unless you remove one of the wire racks,
thus reducing it to an eight-bottle capacity (four 750 and four
larger ones). Even if you stick with the standard bottle volume,
some unusually-shaped bottles will still not fit. For instance, we
found that the extra tall, skinny bottles of Chateau Ste. Michel
have to be put in diagonally so that basically only one bottle fits
per shelf and then you've got to be careful that it doesn't roll
out when you open the door.
On the positive side, the unit is very quiet - even when the fan is
running, it's no louder than the fan on a new PC. It's also
attractively styled in black with the appearance of a brushed
pewter frame for the glass door. The door seal and hinge both feel
solid and sturdy. The thermostat actually does result in a range of
temperatures, but this of course precludes storing white and red
together.
To sum up, the Haier Wine Cellar attempts to do the impossible -
providing a chiller spacious enough for a case of wine yet compact
enough to fit neatly on a kitchen countertop - but ultimately can't
quite do it. I haven't experienced any of the motor failure
problems that others have described (yet); mine has been a reliable
performer. Unfortunately, the additional workaround of where to
keep the unit and what to do about the bottles that won't fit in it
reduce the Wine Cellar to much less than a hassle-free
solution.
PROS
* Cooling fan is very quiet when running
* Accurate thermostat provides a range of temperatures for whites
vs. reds
CONS
* Way too large to realistically sit on any countertop
* Can't accommodate large or unusually-shaped wine bottles
